Okay, now I'm mad.
I was just about to place my order on CGN and I was SUPER excited about it, mostly because I saw that Strangers in Paradise was 50% off, making it $50, and I was already really excited that it was only $62.50 on Amazon and was planning to order it soon. And also obviously the super good deal on Hellboy Library Edition 3 (which is the next one I needed anyways) and BPRD: Plague of Frogs HC 1. And Batman 66 volume 2, and Hawkworld, and Stray Bullets Uber Alles edition.
ANYWAYS, was just about to place that order when I saw that not only was there a $7 shipping fee (which I was anticipating), but there was $12 in taxes as well. I did a quick calculation and realized that ordering from IST would only be marginally more expensive, so I might as well place the order from there when I'm more inclined to spend money.
I was really excited to do a massive impulse buy, too... I wasn't necessarily planning to get any of those books anytime soon, but they were all books I really wanted so it would've been great to have an excuse to get them.
Oooh well.

I'm really hoping IST has a similar sale too. And I really hope it also includes 50% off Strangers in Paradise, because CGN's massive tease got me really, really wanting to buy that very soon.
I read one issue. Then didn't hear/see much buzz and stopped
Also I'm ashamed to admit it but I get excited for the CMX sale updates. Especially the DC Tuesday since they've been known to go all out. I wonder if one happens or is it all tied to a Black Friday deal. Well see!
Just finished Pax Americana. I feel like I did the first time I watched Donnie Darko. I loved it, but I'm not entirely too sure what just happened. Any good websites or breakdowns? Going to do a reread tomorrow.
Also - it is listed as issue 1 on comixology. I thought this was a single issue? Is this going to be a mini?

Well strictly TT related (I don't know why infinite crisis is in the sale) it's the wolf man/Perez issues but they only have 6 issues of their run. So really it's johns TT run that's worth a look.
Stay away from all the N52 issues they have on sale
Completely unrelated to anything recent but with the upcoming Hawkeye omni I really hope they do a OHC vol 2 otherwise they are going to burn a lot of people. Pretty much means I'll stop buying collections til they are all done or there are multiple volumes out.

I thought the Dustin Nguyen and Cliff Chiang stories were excellent. Also really liked the Rafael Grampa story. I don't remember them all, but there are a few totally solid short stories, and a whole lot of great fucking art throughout the series.

I absolutely love this crossover. Both recent solo titles for Hawkeye and Deadpool have been fantastic, and this crossover is... equally fantastic! I still don't understand why
Black Cat
is a murderous villain, but fuck it, I'll run with it. The art is bold and energetic. The writing captures all the characters' really well. Love how Clint, Kate, Wade, and Adsit all interact with each other. Just a ton of fun!
Special shout out to Jock. Christ, the perfect choice for this book. His scratchy but clean but fucking surreal work is amazing. One bit at the ending heavily echoed David Lynch for me. Really creepy stuff.
I'm still really liking the sinisterly charming world that Olive and Maps inhabit (even despite the CWness of some of the conflict and romance), but I'm not a huge fan of that ending. Loved the build up, but the reveal that
it's just Olive's bitchy classmate and not a legit creepy cult and then Olive has pyrokinetic powers? Was a little disappointing
Guest-starring Anderson Cooper! For some reason! Lol!? Good issue. At least Nat finally seems to be having fun before the next hilariously dour tragedy happens to hear speaking of which, what the hell, Edmondson!? But honestly? I saw that ending coming and was not surprised. But seriously: Why is Anderson Cooper in this? It's like they could have just filmed this issue and had it as a bonus for the Captain America: Winter Soldier blu-ray.
Okay, so I spent the previous four months shitting on Brian Wood, and for good reason. His previous two issues sucked. This one? Shows promise. It's hilariously preachy and overly wordy in its dialogue, but that end twist? Pretty goddamn fantastic. I didn't see that one coming. The art is really good, Smallwood's doing his damn best to think out of the box and experiment, and it's appreciated.
Wood's no Ellis, but this is pretty decent. The one issue is... he writes Moon Knight as a hypocritical man (but does rightly call him out on it) but Ellis wrote him as a genuinely cracked specter. It's hard to put into words, but I find the Ellis interpretation more fascinating. Still, I'll stick with Moon Knight. I'm intrigued to see where it goes.
That said, with this issue, Wood's basically ditched the one shot structure of the series.
While I never would have imagined in a million years Frank Castle saying he made something his bitch, that last shot made me giddy as fuck. NEXT ISSUE IS GONNA BE OFF THE FUCKING CHAIN! This series to date has been a great action series, and it looks like they're building up to a bloody climax here. I think 13 will be a bit of a breather before 14 sets LA ablaze.
Basically, this issue is How Frank Castle Got His Groove Back. Gerad's art is great (I don't think he traced this time? LOL, I dunno). I hope after Issue 18, Edmondson and Gerad stick around.
One interesting thing though is the reference to the gangsters trying to take over the city as the "have nots". It's very, very easy for people to interpret this in dark socially conscious ways.
But then again all the bad guys are douchebag gangbangers throwing molotov cocktails at people and murdering reporters, so fuck them.
Reading some back issues of the JMS/JRJR Amazing Spider-Man run and can't help but wonder why they haven't made it into an omnibus yet. It works pretty perfectly if they just do the John Romita JR issues. Seriously some of the best representation of the Peter/MJ marriage and Peter as a teacher works incredibly well. Also damn at these feel good moments.

I was up late watching the rioting in Ferguson before starting Pax, I didn't get to bed until like 2:30. Fell deep down the rabbit hole. Read the issue, front to back, and back to front where it made sense piecing together past, present, and future. 38 pages packed with detail. Then I read a page by page breakdown of the issue and picked up some nice hidden details I missed.
Kudos to Me. Potato head because that was master class of sequential art. I'd say more but I got a toddler to feed.

It's sillymonkey guys. Really, though, I read them all and already forgot those stories. The only Batman short story that has stuck with me was Rafael Albuquerque's Legends of the Dark Knight story. It was amazing. I just can't recomment $5 books for a few short stories.
Picked up the stuff below from the Cheap Graphic Novels sale:
Batman Vol 1: Court of Owls
Stray Bullets: Uber Allies Edition
Daredevil Vol 1: Devil at the Bay
Ultimate Comics Spiderman: Death of Spiderman Fallout
Ellis' Moon Knight
War of Kings

So Michelle MacLaren is officially developing/directing the upcoming Wonder Woman film. I'm glad DC/WB is making a point to go with diversity regarding their super hero movies, but when you have Gal Gadot as Diana, I can't help but feel like this is all hollow marketing to show they're doing something better than Marvel. Wonder Woman shouldn't look like a skinny supermodel...

I'm reading this as well, and I would buy the hell out of that omnibus. As much as I enjoyed Brand New Day, I do love the maturing of the cast. The issue where
Aunt May discovers that Peter is Spider-Man and they talk about it

Alright, what should I get for a guy that's all caught up with the Marvel film universe and wants a preview of the next stuff that's going to come out?
We just watched Guardians of the Galaxy and he's ready for more.
Please help me, GAF. You're my only hope.

Avengers: Ultron Unlimited
Thor: God of Thunder - The God Butcher (not very related to Ragnarok, but I read it last night and it's awesome)
Black Panther: Secret Invasion
Captain Marvel: In Pursuit of Flight
Silent War (Inhumans)
The Infinity Gauntlet (I really hope they fit in the "As long as one man stands against you, Thanos...." line into the film)

instrocktrades.com and cheapgraphicnovels.com are your best bet for ordering hardcovers and trade paperbacks online.
For Inhumans I would recommend starting with the 1998 series by Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee. If you like it, then read Decimation: Son of M and Silent War.
