Kipp

but I am taking tiny steps forward
Deluxe Edition is out next month :p

Man, I need a Kelly Jones Batnibus

Pfft. Deluxe Edition. That's nothing compared to the Gallery Edition.
That deluxe edition is tempting. Especially since it has DKSA as well, which I still haven't read. I'll probably end up getting it even though I have the DKR TPB already.

And regarding the Kelley Jones Batnibus, you are aware that this exists, right? http://www.instocktrades.com/TP/DC/BATMAN-BY-DOUG-MOENCH-AND-KELLEY-JONES-HC-VOL-01/NOV130238

Don't think I've ever read Ronin is it something you'd recommend Kipp?

I'm a massive Frank Miller fanboy, so I'm a bit biased, but it's an excellent dystopian story. I'd highly recommend it. If you like Frank Miller's art, then you'll love the art too, because it's pretty standard Miller art.
All in all, I feel like it's pretty comparable to Dark Knight Returns in terms of mood and quality, so if you've read that and enjoyed it, you'll very likely enjoy Ronin.
I've been wanting to re-read it recently actually. I might do that today.

I'm almost at the end of Remender's UNcanny X Force Vol 2...next up is UNcanny Avengers Omnibus but...am I going to need to read AXIS at the end of it all? I have heard no good things about axis....

I would like to start a Miles Morales Bookclub when the final Complete Collection arrives, would anyone participate?

Edit: How about a Uncanny X-Force Bookclub?

That sounds cool I like Miller, I like samurai and I like sci-fi settings so this should be right up my street. Going to buy the deluxe edition so I can read it tomorrow.

I'd rather reread Peters time as Ultimate Spider-man but maybe going through Miles stuff again would change my mind about him being dull as dishwater.

Oh, nice! That sounds like a no-brainer then. Haha
Let me know how you end up liking it!

Oh man, got back to reading AXIS on MU after a long break of doing other stuff and not really using the service I had paid for (I had read #1 before).

I read issues 2 and 3, plus #1 of Hobgoblin and Carnage, as well as Revolutions. And... 2 and 3 were actually... decent. Nothing exciting, and some weird pop culture-y dialogue and quips from characters that probably shouldn't have had them, but I didn't mind reading them. And Hobgoblin and Carnage were decent. What really caught me off guard, though, was Revolutions. Didn't know what I was getting with that, but... it turned out to be a nice little Spidey story
loved Jameson just coming out of nowhere wielding a golf club!
, and then a Doctor Strange story that straight up read like one of those Seanbaby edits of old comics. That was a really nice, fun little book. Huh.

But yeah, definitely expecting AXIS to start going downhill in a big way from here on out. Hoping the tie-ins can hold up okay, though.

EVERYONE HURRY BEFORE THEY RUN OUT!

:D

i'm going to buy two in case they go up in value.

last day to get the Deluxe Hardcover half off at IST and i still have doubts. I liked it enough when i bought the flops but i have a feeling if i get it will just sit on the shelf without me caring that much.

Also, Ben Carson is now the front-runner in the Republican side. O________O How. Why. How.

youre ok if you skip Axis and the 3 issues that lead up to it. there will be some dangling plot threads before Axis but its best to leave them dangling. UA is incredibly satisfying prior to Axis

So, just wrapped up the Prometheus Unbound arc from Morrison's JLA... thought it was a real step down from Rock of Ages. The league's struggle against Prometheus felt like what they'd have to deal with fighting the Bat-god; not the one that occasionally turns up in the comics, but the one that people who hate Batman but never read comics thinks exists. Really annoying to read.

Plus, since it's a JL book, it's getting jerked around a bit by other series. All-New Wondy being the prime example of "what on earth is going on here."

I agree with this. The whole Remender Uncanny saga is much better off without the legacy of Axis.

I'll be watching the Cavs/Ghost of the Bulls tonight to start the season off.

Same

Shame tomorrow's thunder vs spurs is on at the same time as rockets vs nuggets.

Today I was feeling burnt out on comics as I've been trying to read all of Marvels Secret Wars tie ins to clear them before starting the new universe. So I took a break and read the most recent Rumble issue. My God I love comics sometimes. Just fantastic work all round.

It's up against Crazy Ex Girlfriend. No choice at all.

I have no idea what that is. Hopefully it does well though having a female led show that pushes that fact as a strength is something I can endorse even if it goes about it in the most on the nose way I can imagine.

The whole "he" and "him" stuff every 5 minutes was really grating. They really should have ditched Clark altogether.

Just finished reading through #12 of Morrison's Batman & Robin, now time for the Return of Bruce Wayne. This run is so good.

It's an amazing and delightful hour of television musical comedy

It's been a long ass time since I read Morrison's JLA, do the trades include the story where the
League joins up with everyone to fight a universal threat? I think it's the one where captain marvel is turned inside out, but i'ts no big deal because he's fucking captain marvel.

Anyway, yeah Morrison's JLA run is probably overrated, but they're still solid league stories that any fan should own. My favorite DC team book is still John's JSA but I haven't had the chance to check out Secret Six.

I really want the new printings of Secret Six, probably my favourite DC book. They're not as big as I hoped though, the last one only seems to be nine issues and the Blackest Night issue of Suicide Squad.

World War III? It's Volume 4, his last storyline, IIRC

Haha. Finally caught up with skimming the thread after my computer issues made me fall behind...and then falling further behind not catching up sooner.

DC has sometimes been pretty weird with their recent TPB collections of old material. I understand that stories don't always collect in the nicest of manner, but often this seems to just be an excuse to make the collections smaller.

Um... wow. Read AXIS #4 and... huh. I'd seen/heard the "Kluh" thing before but... man, in addition to being dumb, it literally comes out of nowhere and serves no purpose but some really bad dialogue. Like, has Hulk apparently never gotten sad/felt betrayed before? Really? Like, it's written such that it seems to have nothing with what's going on, it's just something that happened to occur for no damn reason. Huh.

I guess I'll see if that "plot point" actually goes anywhere as I read the rest of it?

Edit: And 5 claims it was indeed the "inversion" which... still doesn't make sense but it's better than nothing. I honestly didn't know if Hulk was there or not because I believe he literally did nothing, but yeah. Whatever.

Ok. Ordered Multiversity right before the 50% discount ended. After all the glowing reviews, I have to see what it is about.

And then when you read it you'll have to google what it's about.

Watching Sony's Paris Games Week conference, I don't like where Sony is at right now. Where's my Legend of Dragoon 2?

That Dreams game looks like it was made on the strongest of drugs.

Zero Dawn looks rad, I'd be wary of anything from the Killzone dudes though.

Dhalsim is a waste of an SFV roster slot, but they'll add all the World Warriors eventually, might as well get them out of the way. Similar feeling of disappointment to when they added Johnny Cage, Sonya and Jax to MKX, though Johnny's dad jokes were the best part of the whole game.

Sony's strategy seemed to be indie games in between larger releases but the indie games that were announced never came out so it's all a bunch of waiting.

So be it. I was hoping my Library would get a copy, looks like they are not.

Also added the Damage Control tpb to the order.

After you read it go back to the end of the April thread or the beginning of the May thread, Narez and I did a pretty solid job of breaking it all down.
