Concord bombs on Steam with less than 1k players on launch day

Concord became available in early access for deluxe edition owners on August 20, but today, Firewalk Studios and Sony’s multiplayer hero shooter has gone live for all players on all platforms. A launch trailer has also been released to commemorate its release- check it out below.

Sadly, Concord doesn’t seem to be getting too much traction, as far as player numbers are concerned. As per SteamDB, as of the time of writing, the game’s peak concurrent player count on Steam stands at just 697, a surprisingly low number for a major first-party release, and lower even than the less-than-stellar numbers it saw during its beta period.

Firewalk Studios and Sony announced earlier in the month that Concord’s first post-launch season will kick off in October, adding a new Freegunner, a new map, and more, with the second season scheduled for January next year. Head on over here for more details on the game’s roadmap.

Concord is available on PS5 and PC.

8years of dev time, western salaries since studio is located in washington state, 100+ppl in the team, easily 100m usd+ but who really knows, maybe it even broke 150m? :messenger_dizzy:

Pushing 170 heads, in Seattle WA. The last 2 years alone have exceeded $100,000,000. Total spend is probably close to, if not exceeding, $200,000,000. That 5 minute Marvel style CG shortfilm they did had to be $15,000,000+. They were likely expecting 10 million+ sales lifetime, forecasting it to out earn their premier first party Lesbian Simulators.

Sony really going after GAAS as hard as possible. So itching for GAAS, they bought this studio last year to add Concord to their GAAS strategy. And I dont think Firewalk and Concord were even part of their powerpoint slides recap in 2022. So it was an incremental game count to their GAAS tally.

They probably realized some of their internal GAAS games were fizzling out. So they needed a quick fix GAAS game they can launch soon, which Concord fit the bill.

Alright GAF, I didn't want to make a new thread for this poll, so I just made one on Strawpoll. Let's see it.

What are the 3 biggest reasons you DIDN'T you buy Concord?
