Nope never played it. I come to these games for setting and story, rather than action.

If I loved Alan Wake and wanted more I wouldn't think to go to Super Hot tbh.

That may be your preference but I highly doubt you would be incapable of loving something that flies in the face of this preference.

Also pretty bad time to launch for the game i guess, as most people will start vanilla when it releases. Should have launched it a week or two earlier.

I know what you mean this type of game needs a strong story and a real sense of location. It looks strange and weird but also nonsensical.

If it's just a load of random tripy rooms without much story/great characters it won't be as exciting for me.

I'm waiting on reviews because it's so hard to weigh it all up. From a marketing standpoint that's not ideal.
From the introductory bit I watched, Jesse already has some history with the FBI and the kind of anamolous events seen in the game — relating to her brother. So to me it seems like the overarching story is kind of unending battle between order and corruption/chaos, in which Jesse is a permanent and unwitting participant.

I agree that weirdness for the sake of weirdness achieves little. However I think weirdness that reflects a breakdown in our understanding of reality is interesting. For me, series like Twin Peaks or even Alan Wake are on the right side of that line. They are often highly surreal and unsettling without being completely incomprehensible. As if they lie just on the edge of comprehension.

Collecting steel book on Tuesday, have a bad feeling on reviews but I think it looks fun and I want to support it.

Man you guys scared me for a second. I have it pre-ordered and loaded on my X, and I thought I was getting jipped on the DLC. Apparently its timed exclusive lol. Says we can get it after the first dlc drops on PS4. CoD I can imagine, but Control? Weird.

Dreamcastguy has a review up, very positive. Don’t have time to link or watch right now...

Some Indian site BGR gave it 3.5 out of 5 apparently...

It's 1pm UK time and the game is out tomorrow. It's a short single player game, and no multiplayer... yet one YouTube review. Between this and the higher up selling shares it's not giving a good impression at all regardless of the quality of the final product lol.

Performance is a POS on PC. They literally did nothing to optimise their engine after Quantum Break. And DX12 performance is also POS, just like in Quantum Break. And just like I've predicted after testing Quantum Break on my new Z390 build, 1080Ti requirement were for 1080p 60 all maxed (except RTX). 1440p is not an option untill there'l be $400-500 GPU with performance of 2080Ti or better.

This is my biggest issue with Remedy's games. Why does it have to be like this...

I'll hold off buying until they fix the performance and I have an RTX card.

Reviews are much better than I expected so it's great news on that front. Looking forward to playing it eventually.

whelp, guess I'll go the Pro route.

Here are a couple of other sites reviews I've stumbled upon on N4G.

IGN - 8.8 https://www.ign.com/articles/2019/08/26/control-review-2

Gaming Instincts - 8/10

Noobsfeed - 90/100

Gaminglyf - 8.0

Since the embargo is now up. I'll say that if you enjoy a good 3rd person action with impressive visual effects and interesting storytelling and cool concepts then I highly recommend it. Biggest issue I have with this game is the performance but that about it.

The only thing I have a slight question mark over is the rooms seem 'large' and empty except for little pockets of enemies. Is that the case all the way through? Massive open office environments?

The reviews seem good enough, caved in and ordered from PSN (about 6 and a half hours to go until it unlocks here). And besides, I like to support the local studios (unless they're Rovio or Supercell).

24.45GB seems quite tiny for an AAA game though. Not that I'm necessarily complaining though, my SSD is full enough as it is.

82 MC, not incredible but a solid game.

I dont' want to offense anyone but I'm reading a lot of uncertainty in the lower rate reviews. Near the end of the Game I don't see how this could be rated less than 80%. But well, feel free to reduce the game to the subjective number some people feel comfortable with.

If you like SciFi, Mystery and ever wanted to play a game with X-Files feeling, you are right. Yes, the game has less story sequences than older Remedy games. The animations are clunkier than in Quantum Break and there are some minor bugs. Performance issues on consoles have to be patched out and this game needs HDR! But to be honest, the biggest issue of the past games - mediocre gameplay - was enhanced greatly. Control feels good, plays nice and makes a lot of fun.

It isn't perfect but far away from "solid". For me one of the best games I played the last years. And well, that's the point any review still stays a subjective opinion. No more or less.

Really good scores, happy I preordered the steel book now.

Interested to see them build on this solid base in the future.

“We got this covered “ gave it 40..... I really hate clickbait scores like that. What a disgrace.

Nothing feels empty, in large part because your reach is huge. Enemies come in many forms and from everywhere, both vertically and horisontally, and the way the appear is pretty organic. It doesn't feel like the same fight over again, every one ends up being rather unique because some shit might happen.

The biggest areas were some of the best ones since it gave me great oportunities to just jump into the air to glide away and catch my breath, and then literally dive back in armed with slabs of concrete to pummel the enemies.

I'd really like to get this as a workout for my 2080 but I just know I won't be happy running it at 1080p on my 4K monitor just to have a chance of hitting 60fp. TBH, I'd rather wait until I've upgraded to the next gen of cards to do it justice and not to mention the game will be on sale, cheap as chips by then.

30 fps with rtx on on a 2080 at 1440p? I mean, I know most shill reviews don;t take performance into consideration but that is straight up bullshit. I had twice the performance in Metro Exodus lmao. No wonder they went with Epic, steam reviews would've destroyed the game for this performance.

Just purchased on the Epic store.

Am I correct in thinking there is no preload? Or am I doing something wrong?

Well, that's a bit shit.

Whats weird is that it does support file preloading but they wouldnt do it for BL3 because it was too large scale....

When asked why this was the case, Sweeney clarified that while EGS has support for file preloading, they're not sure that their system is "up to the demands of a blockbuster like Borderlands." This means that those who have preordered the game will still need to wait until the game is live before they can start downloading it.
