Yeah game crashed on me only once in my whole journey
No crashes so far, but there definitely can be some clipping issues. Once I was able to walk through a table. Once, I got stuck in a table - it was quite hilarious really, I ended up playing for several minutes with a table bouncing around my torso. Typical in games, especially open-world at that, sure. It was fun though, should have saved the video.

Happened to twice but got stuck on the legs for a minute. Looks like it’s the same damn table😂

I wasn't a big fan of QB, I find it to be their weakest game for sure. Control is a much better game, both from a gameplay standpoint, and a pretty nifty (so far) story.

I hope its as trippy as Max Payne 1 and 2 was, those dream sequences are some of my favorite in gaming.

Man! The way you’re all describing this game now makes me put it at the top of my list to get next.

Days Gone was going to be next but this just cut in front of it thanks to you all

Days Gone
(Metacritic Pro Critics Score = 72)
(Metacritic User Score = 81)
(Open Critic = 71)

Control
(Metacritic Pro Critics Score = 81)
(Metacritic User Score = 74)
(Open Critic = 84)
Days Gone is an awesome game,I'll say its better than Control, even though they are 2 different games, the story in that game is really really good, and they fixed a lot of things

Loving this game so far but only one major issue......the frame rate CRAPS out on Xbox S. More often than not when I pick up something to throw the game just can’t handle it.

Other than that I love the combat, the powers are satisfying and fluid to use as well. The destructible environments are an absolute joy to wreck and the art design is simply top notch here 👌

I haven't played it yet, but I've seen a few videos on YouTube. I just want those who don't know, that Trench is voiced by the guy who voices Max Payne.

You're welcome, and goodbye.

This is rubbish right there. I play on X1X and the frames dropped so hard the game started to stutter. Also it didn’t happen just once but more than that especially in a heavy fight with many enemies on the screen

There is something wrong with your console mate, a few stutters here and there and the map takes a while to load, but framerate is steady, a tiny drop here and there but nothing like you are saying. Even the recent DF article confirms that, so if anyone is talking 'rubbish' its you mate.

Games arriving today and my internet at home has problems on the line, is there a large day one patch? Appreciated

Anyone playing on base consoles? Is it do-able? I think Digital Foundry does great work, but in doing so seeks to find worst case scenarios in order to see where the boundaries are.

Does the frame rate drop severely at every single enemy encounter or only in certain areas that are, for whatever reason, more straining on resources?

I have a pretty high tolerance for sub 30 frame rates. For example, I had a blast playing RDR2 on my One S and BotW on Wii U. I thought RDR2 played pretty damn well overall even though DF lamented the One S version. BotW hard locks to 20fps in towns on the Wii U, but I still managed to put in 120 hours to complete it.

I'm liking this alot more now from my earlier impressions (which were a 7/10). It's a rough start though, not in gameplay but more how they introduce the story.

I don't think I've ever seen a game that screams out for HDR more though. So strange it didn't launch with it.

I'll wait till I complete it before I offer my final verdict lol. If you like third person action/gunplay AND a trippy story it's a safe bet to go for it.

Neighbours from Hell
I’m enjoying it. Now I have no idea what the fuck is going on with this story, I can’t be the only one, it’s trippy as hell though. Now maybe it’s because I was talking to a friend on the phone while playing but I’m totally lost with the story. I have no idea why she’s being called the director or who her brother is or how he’s even important. Not sure if I’m supposed to know enough, I wasn’t paying full attention, but hey friendship duty called.

But gameplay is fun aside for some major frame rate drops and I’m not even a frame rate guy, never have been a snob with in. In fact many games I see people complain about it and I don’t notice a damn thing. But this is the 2nd game in a row where I’m noticing it and noticing it hardcore. This and Darksiders 3. Just a coincidence I guess. I have a Pro, so...

Also a little issue with save spots and checkpoints but it isn’t too bad.

I meant the articles and not you........
There’s nothing wrong with my console and yes DF video confirmed that heavy FPS drops
Drops from both Xbox X and PRO run at intense battle at 17 fps

Been playing at 4K (DLSS 1080) with all max settings except Volumetric Lights at Medium, and it's been running at around 45-55 fps. Playing on 65 C9 OLED with a 2080 and a 5930k at 4.4GHz, and it's pretty smooth. The only annoying part is that the game has a really blurry look. DLSS has a lot of aliasing still there (from character's hair to small lines across windows, steps, etc).

The RTX stuff is really cool. Seeing enemy reflections on glass and thinking there is another enemy there is something we'll have to learn in the future. The story seems crazy so far (still very early), but it's intriguing enough. I don't play shooters normally, but I seem to be doing okay in the early stages. The abilities are fun to use. Let's see how it progresses.

Below is a 4K 60fps capture of some exploration and combat:

Enjoying it.

Playing on a 2070 at 4k with DLSS (bit of a soft image).

Everything on high, but no RayTracing. Hovering around 70fps.

Enjoying the game, RTX 2060 here. Unfortunately, the further you go in the game, the more stuttering happens when RTX is on. Seems to be a common problem for when you go further in the game. Might have to turn it off at some point :/

Finished it almost entirely (just got only one side mission left), honestly Sam Lake is one crazy finnish treasure. The balls on this guy
to retcon Alan Wake in the same universe basically
. <- dont read if you're not at least in chapter 7

Ashtray Maze and well, in general the last two chapters being an utterly crazy mindfuck coupled to the best visuals ive seen in a long time also helps

At first wanted to wait, because I have a big backlog right now, but fuck it, I think I will carve in today and buy it.
I am just a big sucker for everything Remedy does.

You won’t be disappointed. To me this is by far remedy’s greatest game

Played around 2 hours today. Got to the hotline. Ryzen 2600 and RTX 2080. 4k with DLSS at 1080p has been fairly smooth so far. Game plays good and the story right now is still layering mystery over mystery. Hopefully, they resolve most of it towards the end.

So let me get one thing straight, I've been out of the PCMR scene for so long that I may be out of the loop...

Checkerboarding is just absolute pants, you can in no way claim you're running at a higher resolution, you're just fooling yourself. But DLSS is A-OK?

Damn what a ride. They really killed momentum of such a great game with not giving it more marketing and hype, and also going to Epic.

The crazy thing is
Alan Wake is actually in the same universe and Wake is still there somewhere...writing and trying to get out. That slide projector from American Nightmare is the same one as in Control then?

I'm pretty sure he was the guy trying to book a room in the motel. Then again said person literally dies after so maybe not lol

Hmm, doubt it, they said in one of the reports, that a piece of Wakes manuscript was found under the door inside the motel, the one with the swirly symbol. So Wake is still trapped in the Dark Place. But when Jesse and the Bureau deal with the Hiss and whatever Marshall is up to, maybe she'll allocate some agents to go rescue Alan.

The final DLC expansion is titled "AWE". I realize it has its own meaning in the game, but with Wake tied to the universe you never know. Maybe Alan Wake Extraction?

Maybe, maybe... Considering how blatantly they put a lot of Alan Wake stuff in there and Jesse quoting that poet Thomas Zane as her favorite, Control could be considered a stealthy sequel to that game. Though I don't think they'll literally rescue him - maybe just give us a lead into a proper Alan Wake sequel.

Gaaah... I want to read the spoilers!!!

Don't do it. I am now around 1 hour in the game, I went n completely blind and it's amazing.

btw - does someoneelse have problems with the lip sync? It's sometimes totaly off and honestly, it bothers me a little bit during the cutscenes. :(

Edit. Just read about it, seems like a common thing in the game, well, nvm tho, still awesome as hell and nothing a patch can't fix.

Having some lip sync issues is one thing (and yes, they can and do exist). But I think it's quite shocking that I've had those FMV clips with that "scientist guy" stutter and be off sync like a ton. Like, how hard can it be to play an FMV clip nowadays? You could do it with a toaster.

This is certainly a game that could have benefited from a month or two of optimization, on every platform. But hey, release early and patch later (if ever) seems to be acceptable these days.

If you have a high tolerance I think you will be fine. Its not every encounter but it dose happen a lot more than it should honestly

Yay! I'm so happy that there are so many people on here that are enjoying Control as much as I am. I agree with everyone that this game should have had a much bigger marketing push. It's so good, but I feel like it's flying a bit under the radar.

And does anyone else look around at the environment with pride after a big fight with the paranormal. The destruction in this game is insane!
