They need more manga source material to follow we are in complete filler mode right now

Wrestling memes are the best memes.

Byron makes Michael Cole look like fucking Shaft in comparison.

Michael Cole is great on the mic. If you look at his work when he was an interviewer, or when he was on Smackdown,, he was perfectly fine. Not as good at hyping things up as JR (No one was), but more than worthy of his position.

WWE is far from perfect, but there's a reason all of the competition can't keep up. It's a tough business.

The internet has absolutely ruined wrestling forever just like the internet ruins most things. Remember when every surprise wasn't already spoiled, along with discussions of why said surprise sucks before it even happens?

Remember when everyone didn't discuss why every wrestler sucks unless their name is Cesaro or Ziggler?

There's a lot to be said about the timing differences. Back in the attitude era, I was newer to wrestling, and there has never been anything like it. Lots of the drama and action was "newer" to wrestling too. It didn't hurt to have all of these mega stars at once either. Now you've seen it all. Everything is discussed until it's boring.

NXT is a good product, but it's another case of internet fans thinking they know what the masses want. NXT is good as-is. It will not be the replacement of WWE.

Internet spoilers were a thing even in the Attitude era. Hell, I remember that stuff popping up when I was in college in the late 90s at the peak of the Monday night wars. And there was also just as much bitching then as there is now. Like when Benoit/Guerrero/Saturn/Malenko first moved over, lots of outrage over them not being used properly at the start of their WWF tenure.

#3. There's Something Modern Wrestlers Don't Understand About Their Roles

One of the most valuable assets in all of wrestling, regardless of the company, is a good heel. Someone the fans genuinely hate. It's a lot harder than it sounds, because a lot of guys who try end up sounding like an actor who's playing the role of a villain, instead of a man with genuine disdain for the audience. The person who can do that is vital because when he finally gets the shit kicked out of him by the hero, the audience feels retribution. His defeat is their reward for tuning in week after week. He is an emotional catalyst.

But there's a second part to that role. Given enough time, most heels will inevitably develop a following. Or another wrestler will need to take over that spot in order to prevent the show from becoming a bucket of dead squid. At that point, the villain needs to flip and turn into the hero. Very few people are able to do that.
This is a good breakdown of the problem with the current heel/face stuff. Another layer to this is that there is currently no good guy that people love so much that they feel devastated when the heel succeeds over them. Daniel Bryan was probably the last one in recent memory. Seth was a good heel but his potential was mostly wasted since he never feuded with a face the audience sincerely loved, aside from Dean Ambrose, and arguably Brock (who is neither face nor heel). People kind of defaulted into cheering Seth because most of the time he was the only interesting thing in the ring worth getting behind.

I haven't watched in years.. But remember when they could turn any jobber into some of the most popular wrestlers around... Like too cool..

This article reads like every average wrestling nerd's opinion of what's "wrong" with WWE.

The article is well sourced for some of the claims it's making. That's definitely not average. If you're such an expert then elaborate on why you think WWE is declining.

The two are linked, you cant (and shouldnt) talk about one without the other. Saying the division is bad while showing a match from 2014 is a joke, the division has changed a lot in one year.

I mean, he complains theyre models before wrestlers, wasnt aware Charlotte, Banks and Becky Lynch were models.

Doesn't mean the criticism isn't valid, the point stands, they're models before wrestlers.

Attitude era was the best...I stopped watching few years after it kept repeating the same cliches over and over...on the ring and off the ring...anyways can't see WWE staying alive after this year..

Cracked is written by the worst parts of WrassleGAF and other Internet sports entertainment communities huh.

I want blood back. I want real TLC matches I want attitude era back.
Why, though? Why not watch real violence at this point?

Like I'm okay with blood when it's the bitter, brutal end of a heated feud in a street fight, and they plan a way to safely add some to add to the drama, but that's literally it, and even then I'd be asking why bother. I don't need to see people really hurt to believe their goofy ass wrestling characters are in a fight.

The ones atop of the division were either wrestling since they were little or 2nd/3rd generation wrestlers, so no, the point stays on its butt.

Besides, I dont see the same criticism used against the male talent (Cena, for one) Many male performers come from non wrestling backgrounds.

Do you think there's some sort of pro wrestler job one can get before being a pro wrestler? So many of these dudes are coming from bodybuilding and modeling, too. All that matters is if they give a shit about becoming a great pro wrestler and the company wants to promote them as a great pro wrestler.

Gimmicks need to come back. Cody Rhodes had like 4 and he's awesome

-Dashing Cody Rhodes before his face got smashed
-Nose mask Cody Rhodes who put paper bags on the heads of his victims
-mustache
-Stardust

The attitude era wasn't as good as you remember, and I have about ZERO faith in WWE creative being able to bring it back and adjusting it for 2016 without fucking it up. If it weren't for Stone Cold and Rock transcending the sport the attitude era would have been a far bigger joke than people's nostalgia lets on. Bra and panty matches? Saying bitch and ass? Crotch chops and middle fingers? You think that stuff is playing in 2016?

Guys, guys. Hush. It's all okay. Because tonight, at 3AM eastern, is...

Yep. Watching any highlight reel of wrestling clips is all fucking cringe because of all of those moments.

Let's just have athleticism, cool characters that make you think "I wish I was him/her," and interesting storylines.
