Crash Bandicoot remastered collection coming in 2017

Doesn't mention amy kind of exclusivity

Working with Activision could just mean marketing.

Activision's blog mentions just PS4. Activision is a hardware-agnostic company so it's weird for them to not mention other platforms if there are others.

We'll find out months from now along with whether it's a remaster or a remake I guess, but I think Sony might have some rights, and they are smart about having exclusives just like Nintendo.

Beautiful

I wonder if that will be the new model for crash in the remasters too

remasters in what sense? they should explain more clearly, to me it sounds like hd remasters, making the crash ps1 games cleaner and just that, not a remake.

The thing about this "Skyanders Crash" that everybody seems so upset about is that these are the games the kids are playing right now. And these are the games they will remember as fondly as most of us other that payed the original Crash games when we were younger. So in the end wouldn't you like the kids today to still remember crash as some of their fonder memories from a young age? This is what i think it´s all about. Sharing your favorite character between generations. =)

have a nice day!

Remastered collection is fine by me! It's just a shame they aren't doing CTR too. But maybe that will come if the collection sells well.

They made the GBA Crash which were good and true to the franchise before it all went to shit. Looks like they mostly worked on handheld/Wii ports from many Activision games. and now they are mostly working on Skylanders.
Their GBA, DS and Wii games were known for squeezing as most as they could for the hardware.

Tony Hawk and Jet Set Radio on GBA...Tony Hawk Sk8land and Guitar Hero on DS...the Guitar Hero games on Wii having feature parity with 360/PS3 and DLC ...

Their Skylanders games on 3DS were platformers unlike the console versions...the Skylanders Giants port for Wii U launch had the game at 1080p ...and their actual first Skylanders console game (Swap-Force) for many was the peak of the series in gameplay design and overall production values (visual style, soundtrack).

Hopefully things will be as great.

Oh, Vicarious will be working on this? Lovely! I really enjoyed the little I played of the GBA Crash games, as they were surprisingly on-point. Definitely need to go back and beat them one of these days.

God I hope it's not exclusive.

I feel like the cherry on top for the cries for a Sony Crash game would be them retroactivity LOSING exclusivity of the old ones.

And not even a logo, let alone gameplay. Good lord.

This is the same song and dance with countless other games. Goldeneye (remake, which was NOT a remaster) is one example that comes to mind. It eventually got released on 360/PS3. The wording here also screams temporary exclusive.

Sony only has "some rights" to the old PS1 games, and those rights were co-publishing (Universal Interactive was also the publisher) and ownership of the original code through Naughty Dog. Vicarious Visions creating new code means that Activision will own the code.

I hope they don't ruin the original feel of the first trilogy. There have been soulless remakes of classic games in the past. If Sony is overseeing and funding this, I think we might be fine.

I hate how they throw the word "remaster" at anything nowadays.

Doesn't remaster mean going back to the original recording and cleaning it up? If they remade the whole freaking game it isn't a remaster at all, it's a remake.

Neither.

Ratchet and Clank was a full redo of the first game. It's not the same levels/gameplay, it's a retelling. Essentially a new game with the original's ideas.

FFVII was a port of a cleaned up PC port.

From what they've said, expect the original games (and gameplay) with new HD visuals. There may be "upgraded mechanics" but it'll be the same games/levels in the end. Basically what a lot of people complaining about FFVII Remake wanted (but it's a lot easier to replace cartoony visuals with HD cartoony visuals than chibi with photorealistic lol)

Well that's because the FFVII remake should have kept the chibi style :P

It is an absolutely awful marketing buzzword with intentionally vague meaning.

Happiest Crash fan out here I see a lot of replies sayin, this sucks Crash is dead, I mean come on he was already half dead with Crash of the Titans, this is more of a revival and that too three of the best Crash games (wishing for crash team racing) having crash one year earlier on skylanders will be a blast, I bout the first skylanders for Spyro and now Crash will join in with him, hopefully Somy can negotiate a Spyro deal and get the Dou back again

This crash craze was only something some members of the press kept bringing up. It was really bizarre to see on the internet.
But this game if you want a new crash!

But seriously, it might end up being good but knowing this my expectations have dropped to rock bottom.

If people knew what it means it wouldn't be vague. If they used it somewhat correctly people would know what it means.

They should call it Crash Bandicoot Rewarped Collection or something.

This has confirmed my PS4 purchase at some point maybe next year. I hope there's a slim PS4 out by then.

Also, here's to hoping that the remaster and the inclusion in Skylanders is to help raise Crash's profile for a new generation before they bust out a new game.

Did you intentionally ignore the part about them making the GBA Crash games, which basically were just 2D reimaginings of the Naughty Dog games anyways? A lot of that team is still at Vicarious Visions.

Well yeah?, I played the GBA games when they came out and they're good GBA games but they're still a far cry from a fully fledged 3D crash game.

To be fair, they made the best Skylanders game (Swap Force).

And Skylander games ain't no different when it comes to platforming combat, when compared to Crash. Remember folks, it's a remaster, which means they won't be messing around with the formula too much.

Hell, they haven't updated their website since 1999, which shows how they don't like messing around with the formula (lol).
