nah, i guess in the end, there is just a tad more possible on the pS3 if you really want to and if you know what you're doing (exclusives kinda show this).edornob said:So does this mean PS3 has finally become easier to develop for ala like when the PS2 finally became easier to develop for?
-Yeti said:Oh yeah? Well...... the 360 conrtoller is better!
Just kidding. I really don't care about this because performance will only be slightly better. I'm not gonna go out and buy a PS3 just to buy the slightly better Crysis 2.
I laughed way too hard at this.:lolNHale said:But how could you play the slightly inferior version of Crysis 2 knowing people with the other console are playing the same game with slightly better looking rocks?

Mr.NiceGuy said:All I've ever read about crysis 2 is graphics this and graphics that, is that all they can talk about ?
Well you've always been told the PS3 is to hard to develop for but what if the tech is now harder to get that performance out of the 360. PS3 tech when you look at it from the bottom up has the edge in some key areas. I hope they actually pack on extra textures needed with the storage size afforded to them.Firewire said:The last line surprises me, never thought they would have more difficulty with the 360 version.
That would be the end of days. You see how the Final Fantasy thread turned out.The Faceless Master said:can't wait until this is out so the comparison pics and framerate and tearign measurement videos are out in full force.
Another one with the ghost busters crap. You really are dishonoring the Crytek people with your post. These aren't some no name devs so deal with it.Rat Salad said:Ahh yes,PS3 superiority shananigans once again. Ghost Busters taught us nothing I guess.
I doubt this game will look better than the 360's crowning jewel,Metro 2033. Such a beautiful game.

I think it's already started to an extent with EA. They seem to be leading a lot on PS3 these days. If not leading, then they damn sure make both versions pretty much identical. I'm just glad that games these days are closer in parity than ever before.StuBurns said:Not really, it just now has the installbase that warrants putting the extra time in. I think we'll see more developers leading on PS3 because it seems to result in better product quality. Until recently there has basically just been Burnout, but now there's FFXIII, Vanquish, Castlevania. I think that's going to become more frequent.
At least PS3 owners aren't being treated like shit, as often anymore. A couple of years back, it was pretty disgusting.
Just like how this "Crysis 2 PS3 Will Hit Graphical Ceiling" thread op also omitted that the interview is from a playstation mag..:lolshinnn said:just curious how the OP omitted that it's from a Playstation magazine :lol
Haha Dabanton is this thread:Dabanton said:Ok i'll agree with that but we all know how it goes. Website posts story with provocative title to get hits.
What should happen is the OP should say to himself "will this make a good thread on Gaf that will have lots of insightful discussion or will it just stir up trouble" before pressing that New Topic button.

Our man Ryan saw just a snippet of gameplay running on PS3, and said it looked exactly the same as the 360 version.
Why?mintylurb said:Anyway, it's possible ps3 crysis 2 might perform better but then it'll probably look worse than the 360 version.

This presentation mentions how final LPV rendering stage is much faster on PlayStation 3 because crytek used half-resolution rendering mode with MSAA remapping trick.StuBurns said:Why?
This post does not compute? Did Major Nelson tell you this? On paper and actual performance in a machine are two different things. You may frown at this all you want but PS3 holds the graphics crown.I <3 Memes said:I know it's a new engine and all, but I'm still surprised to hear that Cryengine 3 would perform better on the PS3 then the 360 due to the 360's superior GPU. With as GPU bound as Cryengine 2 was I would have expected the same from Cryengine 3.

Anyway, I was just merely speculating. We won't know for sure until the game comes out.

StuBurns said:I'd be pretty shocked at that.
Lets be honest, it's going to be pretty stunning on both, I don't think the average gamer is going to compare both directly "oh my god, look there has to be nearly 20% more dust in the PS3 version! MS fail lul".
And as has been said a number of times in this thread. Both console versions will be pathetic compared to the PC version, it's like Sony and MS fighting for install base with Nintendo just laughing from the wings.
However, I do defend SKU comparisons. They are useful to people. They're unfortunately war fodder too.

PC gamers experiencing the best version of the game, obviously. ^_^spwolf said:PC version might look awesome, but at the same time, will it get more than 10% of sales? 15%? So not sure who is going to be laughing there.
I am looking forward seeing how it ends up looking, not taking anything for granted.
Sure, if you care about sales, personally, I don't. The installbase analogy was just to draw the parallel of fighting for second place when first place is already so defined.spwolf said:PC version might look awesome, but at the same time, will it get more than 10% of sales? 15%? Yep, I can't wait for the inevitable 3000x zoom pics and resulting meltdowns.Slayer-33 said:Wild statements without evidence.
Yeah.. Lets see the image quality/resolution both versions are running before jumping to conclusions.
Hilarious :lol
Thats a great point actually. Pc snobs might get the best version but sony and M$ definitely will have the last laugh.spwolf said:PC version might look awesome, but at the same time, will it get more than 10% of sales? 15%? So not sure who is going to be laughing there.

Sony shot for the sun.

Eh? pretty sure that means we PC snobs get the last laugh, and CryTek get moar monnies. All good.Dexvex said:Thats a great point actually. Pc snobs might get the best version but sony and M$ definitely will have the last laugh.
Jones added that Crytek had no difficulty developing for the PS3 in comparison to the 360.

The PC Master Race will most definitely get Crysis 2: The Several Orders Of Magnitude Superior Edition.
Ploid 3.0 said:I'm wondering about this too. Great graphics are nice to have, but I want to know about the other reasons I should be interested in this game. Will the gameplay and story hook me?

Not really console makers will get a good cut thus leading to more money for sony and m$ to fund superior console games.DennisK4 said:Eh? pretty sure that means we PC snobs get the last laugh, and CryTek get moar monnies. All good.

Yeah, Richard Morgan talks a lot of smack - now he fucking better deliver one hell of a compelling story for Crysis 2 :lolKAOz said:I read some interviews with the story writer for Crysis 2, where he called the Halo-series' story "Bullshit" more or less, and he found Modern Warfare 2's story incredibly dissapointing. He did shove massive praise over Uncharted 2's story though, due to it being very tounge-in-cheek but still Hollywood-style.
Yerli, on the other hand, didn't fully like Uncharted 2's style, and compared the narrative of Crysis 2 with Avatar. "Fast paced and intense, but more about the world."
There was also more interviews with Yerli where he talked more about it.
That's all I could find right now.
