Seems this will be the second big anime of the year. Seems worth having a thread on it

How to Watch Dandadan​

First off, Dandadan will premiere in the United States on Thursday, October 3. This is due to the time difference between Japan as locals will get to check out the show there on Friday, October 4. As for timing, Dandadan is expected to start streaming stateside at 12:00pm ET or 9:00 am PT.

As for where you can watch it, you have quite a few picks. So for the full list, you can find it below:


  • Hulu
  • Crunchyroll
  • Netflix

In other regions, streaming services like ADN and Muse Asia will oversee the release of Dandadan. As for the United States, you have three streaming services to choose from. Netflix has confirmed it will release an English dub for Dandadan, but no word on a dub has been given by the other streaming services.

Watched the 1st ep, know nothing about the source material but kinda feels like FLCL. Binged a bunch of 1st eps today this re:zero and Danmachi are my favs so far. Looking forward to bleach, blue lock and shangri-la as well.

Watching that scene with my girlfriend made me feel like a kid again having a movie on and suddenly a sex scene starts playing.

I suggested we watch it because of all the hype and recommendation from a friend...which all felt like a slam dunk until...
I'm watching a group of Pringles mascots forcibly spread the legs of the scantily clad protagonist as their robot dick is forming.

The dialogue of the anime was actually insanely well done. The pacing and personalities were top notch.

Dandadan episode 2:

Bad guy reminds me a little of Gantz, plus a Chainsaw Man style transformation, only this is much more PG of course. Everyone still wants dicks for some reason! Smart choice to go black and white to hide the CG for the alien.

Not a huge fan of wimpy protagonists and this guy is grating on me already but the dynamic between the two leads has potential. Will stick with it.

Still digging the generally tone and animation of the show. It fits in that neat box of being "cute enough for GF" and "interesting enough for me".

Didn't like ep2 as much as 1, but that's to be expected I spose.

I'm not that big into anime, but episode one sold me. Also, i wholeheartedly agree with the FLCL vibes. It's what immediately sprung into mind when i watched it.

Also, my sis pointed out how the first episode shares a couple of similarities with Mob Psycho 100, especially with the kid finding the ghost in the tunnel and how the main male character looks a bit like Mob.

Don't worry too much about Okarun his development is handled well and the story is paced very quickly.

I was about to ask some crude questions about the status of Okarun's dick and the advancement of their physical intimacy if/when he ever gets it back and then I realized that these are supposed to be highschool freshmen.

...almost got me, Japan. Nice try!

The 2020s is shaping up to be a great decade for anime, better than the 2010s, which pound for pound was FINE but usually only just fine, there's a spark to stuff like this, SpyxFamily, Frieren, Dungeon Meshi etc that reminds me of the 2000s.

Like for starters letting it be weird and feel "Japanese" again like this series is instead of going for a more international feel.

That's one of my issues with modern anime which is why I've been sticking to reading manga instead

Eh, plenty of real freshmen having sex, it shouldn't be some sort of hush hush taboo to talk about it. At least in live action you can cast adults to play teens as has been done in COUNTLESS high school based raunchy comedies, but with animation it's such an ambiguous situation where no human is actually involved so it's all "context".

What is weird is this girl almost gets gang raped but carries on with basically no trauma from the experience. I feel that we have evolved to where if you are gonna have a fan service scene like that you should at least have to deal with it in a realistic way, if only for a scene.

It's a a shame because the opening and animation is GOAT Tier in my eyes. Like i can't stop jamming to the opening song and then you get this shit..

Also huge fan of the manga. Hope they don't censor anything else in the anime just so they can placate the prudes

Thankfully nothing been censored yet

Not to mention the author doesn't have to present stuff in a realistic way especially since it's anime

Oh I read some of the comments and couldn't last through Page 1. I was rolling my eyes reading all those posts. I only go on that site since they are a threat along with Twitter and Tumblr. Yes they are a small minority but those three sites are one of the main reasons why 2010 anime I felt wasn't as good and don't get me started on how they were semi successful in influencing the Japanese Game Industry. That's all I'm saying on that though since it's off topic
