The only humor I want to see from Suicide Squad is the sadist humor that works so well for The Joker in TDK. I don't want any of that quippy jargon for what are supposed to be bad guys. They're either dumb, psychotic or disillusioned. They shouldn't be comedians.

I feel so alone in my love for BvS's and MoS's tone.

I'm here with ya man.

I'm with you here... tone isn't the issue.

Not giving Faraci a click ever again, I gave him the benefit of the doubt but the fuck actually took glee in a movie being reviewed bad. What a miserable piece of shit.

I don't like the idea of squad being altered tonally, from what the director had originally intended. If DC apes Marvel, I'll probably just end up dropping both until they hit Netflix.

I thought BvS had a sufficient amount of jokes in it. It felt like Nolan's level of more subtle humor. Tone wasn't the issue.

I thought so to. Especially Alfred had many jokes and I would have no problem if Suicide Squad would have a similar tone, maybe a bit funnier/crazier because of the cast, but it doesn't have to become totally silly.

You're not alone breh. I don't want Warner to suddenly change the tone of everything to become Marvel 2.0. It can be a little lighter, sure, but I really really like the more "serious" approach.

Basically this. I'll get my news drops from people who deserve more respect. Such a slimy behaviour by a person who cries foul so much.

I'll say, after three years of BS blog rumors for BvS, I wish we'd learn to take what we read with the tiniest amount of skepticism and use critical reasoning.

I also like the tone. And DC even has the Arrowverse, which is much more lighthearted.

I remember one of the loudest cheers/laughs in the theater was when the Joker did his magic trick, that's the stuff I want to see.
Bro fist. I hope the DCU can thrive. I want to see more movies like this.

I like the tone that Snyder established with the first two DCEU films. I don't believe that is a problem with either film.

I fully expect certain DCEU films to take a different approach such as Flash and Shazam. What I don't want is the DCEU to start emulating the MCU joke a minute style. It became ridiculous in AoU when the group could barely be together for 30 seconds before someone dropped 3 jokes.

I don't mind the Marvel cheese as it works in the MCU (to a point). I just don't want WB to see that and say "well I guess that is what we need to do in order to appeal to a bigger audience." Adding more jokes does not solve the problems of MoS and BvS.

If SS is getting reshoots (not surprising) we have no clue if it is to add more humor. It's not uncommon for a film to have reshoots and some people are taking this rumor as fact.

That suicide squad getting refilmed thread makes me laugh, all the drive by posts and the blind believing of the rumor that's clearly reshoots like every other movie.

Always funny, they need to make up more rumors like this, we need a new rumor thread everyday!

Movie comes out good - WELL THE RESHOOTS WORKED! I KNEW IT

Movie comes out bad - IF ONLY THEY HAD MORE TIME FOR THE RESHOOTS.

Faraci needs his daily clicks, he cannot continue talking about how transcendent was AoU and what it means for the human condition.

Remember when people thought Suicide Squad was going to be relatively untouchable unlike BvS? The narrative will change about that movie by the time August rolls around. This is just the start.

Wonder Woman is going to get raked over the coals. I think people just need to prepare for DC movies getting shit on from here on out.

I don't understand.

Are we playing the "Critics hate DC" game again?

The series is all about black and morbid humor.

We are talking about a guy getting his shit blown off being funny, if they don't nail that tone then the movie is in trouble. I'm pretty sure Ayer gets this, I'm just worried about studio meddling.

I haven't read the article but why not title it, "Batman v Superman is smart for a comic book movie"?

That title makes it sound like you're a moron if you prefer the Marvel movies. I understood and liked BvS and I also understand and like the MCU. I guess I must be too smart for me.

Well, check the article out.

Ayer specialises in dark comedy.

Because liking movies is a zero-sum game

All im saying is, if someone calls Suicide Squad a 'train wreck'

The we are in for another cycle

OT is dead, bury it.

You're not going to have a positive thread in OT ever. Hell, there's more people talking about how much they hated the movie then probably a combination of how many posts we've made over the BvS thread and this one, in a period of 3 years.

I read it just now. The article is interesting (a little over the top) but what he was saying only included Marvel so he could work that jab in at the end.

Hahahah, yeah well, either that or the fact that Marvel has pretty much become synonymous with comic book films. I want to see stuff from Dark Horse and Image getting made too!

You guys severely overstate the amount of jokes in Marvel movies.

I'm a massive DC fan, but after all this Batman v Superman negativity, and now this bullshit around Suicide Squad and DCEU in general, I think it's time to check out for a while. This is exhausting.

I dont think so.

Jokes ruined IM3 for me, even in the damn climax of the movie, when Im all pumped for good ol action they make a gag, you know the part where all the suit parts come crashing in front of the villian, in Guardians Starlord starts to dance, what the fuck I mean.

I think there are more examples of that, Avengers is full of them too.

I hate that, not even Deadpool did that and that movie is all about jokes and shit.

The Starlord dance was great though. I kind of like that DC movies are totally different though.
