Those are all the superhero movies I've really liked. All others were either okay or forgettable. I could rank them, but I'd rather not bother since it's not worth the effort. I can hardly remember them as it is. Aside from the really bad ones, they'd probably all be on a similar level of enjoyment. I guess you can determine whether our tastes allign from this. My top two are interchangeable, and they're also the only two I've ever watched more than once.
Omg you have the best taste on gaf, my spirit animal <3. I am not expecting this movie to be Nolan tier BUT at the same time I think it might be the stepping stone for a new wave of "serious" cbm. Maybe one of the "phase 2 movies is Nolan tier, or could it be Wonder Woman? Who knows, who knows.

man, that grain is really something. I hope it doesn't show as much in the actual movie.

That new one has some solid posting in it tho. Bobby Roberts speaking truth.

yeah I mean the stories in particular. The discussion of the movie has definitely moved more toward positive with more footage released. Final Trailer did a lot of work, we're mostly past the drive by Eisenberg and Gadot posts.

I just want it to be March 25th so we can actually talk about what's in the movie. But who am I kidding, March 26th the shit will start again with Justice League!

EDIT: Actually, how long do we have to wait for the inevitable "BvS shows why Justice League will fail" article from some Gawker site?

I imagine March 19th.

You know why this movie is gonna make a billion dollars? Because everyone will see it as to not be left out of the conversation(s) in the days/weeks to follow. Won't matter if they hate DC or not, they will want to add their 2 cents even if it means buying a ticket to something they don't want to see.

The latest thread got me thinking of all the non-sense people have believed and gotten angry about in regards to this movie

So a quick trip down memory lane...

I'm partial to the hot takes of how The Flash TV will crater following news of another actor for the films. Nailed it.

Ahh the memories. First Batfleck was going to ruin it, then Gadot, oh no wait Luthor. Nvm Superman is gonna suck etc etc.

So those kid books and guides that talked about Batman's gadgets and the Batmobile not mention the Batwing at all?
Still wondering if its a boat/plane combination as I first thought with that design.

I don't even know why I get my hopes up wanting a legitimate Batman theme anymore.
Same for Spiderman I guess.

what's your definition of legitimate? the nolan theme was fantastic. the way he built it up over the trilogy rocked too by the third one it became a rousing war theme.

as for gothic, well there's always the schumacher and burton ones.

edit: the new one is pretty boring though no doubt. i liked the man of steel and tdk theme but this is kind of blah.

I agree. I haven't heard anything remarkable from what has been released. Nothing screams that screams iconic or memorable. I say this as some who enjoyed The Dark Knight Trilogy scores and the main theme for MoS, but honestly don't think this most recent trend of superhero soundtracks are going to be remembered by general audiences decades from now.

I like how the conversation has changed from "this movie will bomb" to "if it doesn't crush Star Wars it'll be a failure" sprinkled with a little bit of "Civil War will still do better".

That's about what I expected. I do like some tracks that I've listened to but i can see them be easily overshadowed by the movie's action. You don't get a whole lot of opportunities to deliver those personal melodies in a film that's seemingly driven by action. Still I like "is she with you" and Batman's new theme. Superman still has the best one with arcade.

For Zimmer his themes were good for action and he had a good "investigation" theme but that was about it.

But comparatively you have Elfman whose score for Batman Returns (not to mention 89) was absolutely incredible. Might be one of my favorites of all time up there with Indiana Jones, Star Wars and Jurassic Park.

Then you have Walker's which is even better.

My biggest problem is that lately the music in these types of movies seems like such an afterthought compared to the past and they'd rather the music be bland and fitting than powerful and iconic.
Like Ant-man's theme is the most memorable since First Avenger which had a great theme they decided to ditch from Winter Soldier "because it doesn't fit the movie".
X-men 1 had an awesome theme that they ditched.
Spiderman's is iconic but they didn't want to reuse it.
Iron Man 1 had a great theme that they ditched.

I think because more things score for mood/impact over genuine fanfare. Both have their place.

I personally prefer fanfare, but I get the other way as well

Eh... Score first, movie second is backwards. Hard to be blown away without context. I wouldn't review a score without seeing the movie it accompanies first. One is incomplete without the other.

I liked everything from the score so far, especially the Lex theme, their war here and this is my world. The Superman parts have the best music it seems. I wish we'd know what the WW theme is.

Im hoping for a reference to Selina currently being the Kingpin of Gotham myself.

That would be pretty good. I haven't read the New 52 arcs that deal with that particular storyline, but it seems like it would be the natural step for Selina at this time in the DCU.

And it would be way better than her role in The Dark Knight Returns.

No mention of Christopher Drake? :/

I'm really liking the current score though, "Their war here" is especially amazing

Or Catwoman... *wink wink, nudge nudge*

Ah yes, I forgot her. That reference would indeed be better

Yeah, his was great. Especially his Arkham Origins theme https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGi9U7erIRU
Those and even just the basic Arkham Asylum theme(compared to later versions) i'd put over Zimmer's and what we have heard of BvS's.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHEPEoIeKFo - Asylum's
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXKrsJZWqK0 - City's
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCrYZYiwcwM -Knight 's

I like what Christopher Drake did with TDKR, but wouldn't put it over Zimmer's scores personally. I found them enjoyable and fitting of the movie while watching, but none of the tracks really left an impression on me or left me wanting more. Wouldn't mind him and Junkie working together on the Batman movie tho.
