Smallville scene was the best in the film and one of the best action scenes in any comic book film.

Anybody else have Valerian trailer in front of WW? I don't know which one it was but wow, WOW, it looks fucking amazing. I need to find out which one it was..

Might have been this but some parts of it don't seem right. Was much more impressive in theaters. I hope it's good

I was hoping i would get either Valerian or Blade Runner trailer, but all I got was Dungoof, some shit called Geostorm, and Justice League.

I got Transformers The Last Knight. Made it all worthwhile. Also got a fucking hilarious Mummy themed TURN OFF YOUR PHONE short, where the Cruise Missile was about to be sacrificed on a coffin by evil mummy monstersor something and then his girlfriend's (or whoever) phone goes off and they all get distracted and he makes a funny face.

I got Spider-Man: Homecoming, Transformers: The Last Knight, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, that Dunkirk IMAX preview/trailer thing...and I don't remember what else.

I've yet to see the Justice League trailer in theaters. :( I do have a high-bitrate version of it with 5.1 surround sound, though, which is great to watch on my home theater, but I'd love to see it in a real theater at some point.

Also, I'm really hoping that Valerian ends up good. Luc Besson has been a fan of the comics for most of his life and has wanted to make the movie for like 20+ years, so I'm sure he put his all into it. The comic artist and co-creator worked with him on The Fifth Element before, too. I like what I'd read of the Valerian comic, and the animated series is fun from what I've watched, though it's a little different from the comics.

Looking at the trailers...I just can't imagine it being a box office hit. It's got flop written all over it

fuck it. least it got made.

I'm still super surprised it did. I want to see it but I don't know how it ever got the okay to be made. I'm going to go see it but I have no illusions it's going to do well.

Usually the Transformers trailer were really enjoyable. I haven't liked any for The Last Knight. They've all felt to long and boring.

No the fuck he did not lmao

I'll never forgive him picking up a kryptonite spear that he knows weakens him when he can hand it to the very capable woman who is not only obviously super strong, but clearly knows her way around weapons lmfao.

He died because Snyder and co. wanted him to, and it never even begins to feel like there's another reason within the story.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... I believe this to be a poor line of thought especially when it comes to Superman.

I've argued this point quite a bit because this is one of those things Snyder got right if he got anything. Superman may know that Wonder Woman is super strong and a capable fighter but he would have no idea of her limits. I find that Superman handing the spear off to Diana would have been a gross error on Snyder's part to go that direction. Superman taking responsibility for Doomsday and putting his own life on the line in order to protect those around him due to that responsibility is classic Superman through and through. Clark would never ask someone to fight his battles for him regardless of the logic.

Yeah honestly I had no problem with that aspect of the scene.

Sampling past time paradise for the trailer took me by surprise. That movie looks like it'll be a gorgeous mess. I'll probably catch it in theaters.

kinda fits since it looks like the most visually ambitious sci fi movie since Wachowskis Jupiter Ascending...

...hopefully this is a better movie lmao.

edit: never mind, for some reason I thought a Matrix trailer sampled that as well.

I'm aware it's a really stupid, nitpicky point on my part. Only bring it up because I think it's funny in hindsight. Which is kind of part of my problem with that scene, it's supposed to be this deep, sacrificial moment, and my only takeaways from the fight in general are "lol Bruce is useless, yesssss" and "Clark, maybe let the Amazon that's already fucking up Doomsday take the spear emitting energy that you're weak against".

I know he'd never, it's just an unintentionally hilarious moment that I still like poking at. It probably wouldn't be if the scene, or the buildup to it (or, shit, the movie) was worth a damn.

I would have to disagree with the buildup thing. Starting with MoS and driving the point even further in BvS we see that Supe's mere presence leads to some bad stuff happening, and he notices this :

People dying in Africa just to set him up

The whole congress blown up and by his own admission to Lois "Because I didn't see it", and the aftermath scene we see in the UC you can clearly see it in Superman's face how guilty/frustrated he feels as he looks at Lois (I'm still baffled how they cut this scene in the TC)

Then you have his talk with Pa kent where he tells the story about the horses drowning while he was "eating the hero cake".

Finally you have the "This is from another world. My world"( This thing is here because of me, it's my responsability) and the "this is my world,, you are my world.."(Everything dear to me is in this planet I must protect) exchange with Lois.

The guy by the end of the movie decided that nobody will die on his watch anymore, he would end this.I would even say this was the moment he really became Superman.

I need to seriously have preloaded rebuttals on my phone for some of these criticisms cos I am too lazy to search them all the damn time. But for the short version here goes, Wonder Woman was under strain holding doomsday in her lasso. Should he give it to her Doomsday in the second it took for her to let go of the lasso would smash Wonder Woman and Superman in their tired and weakened states respectively worst than Loki in Avengers or failing that eye beams would do the same job.

Or Superman could fly Superspeed, use what's left of his super strength to pierce Doomsday who was a fair distance away as was Batman so giving it to him was a no can do either.

But hey maybe he should have given it to Lois, it'll take a couple of minutes for her to run there in heels and if Wonder Woman isn't totally exhausted and still holding Doomsday in place she can hopefully pierce Doomsday.

Finally I don't get why people shit on Superman doing the logical and selfless thing as explained already but then praise Captain America for being heroic and a better Superman than Superman for doing dumb and reckless shit like running to jump on a grenade miles away from anyone.

Oh and why did Superman have to die, to explain why they were creating a Justice League. When a being like Superman exists Batman might need help for shit above even his pay grade. The knightmare sequence, and the Flash dream sequence were warnings for what potentially will happen in the film universe and they influence him to investigate metahumans and start the league. But what do I know, I only paid attention to the movie, used simple deductive reasoning and didn't join in on the movie hate circle jerk because it's cool

That's not too surprising - you contract actors for multiple, and you grab directors for one in case they're shit

Also while it'll cost them a lot more, it'd be much worse if they don't grabbed Gal for one and had to renegotiate. Directors don't make as much as stars do

just for context before someone blows it up, she is lip biting because she lost her train of thought mid sentence, and then that look of shame is because she threw Chris under the bus to finish her thought

But damn does she look good

What do we feel about WB being gun shy and waiting for JL to release before planning out their slate post AM? It's the same type of dumb thinking that had us wait 3 years for BVS and comes off AGAIN as over reactionary. Then they'll scramble to make films post JL and rush things once more.

EDIT: Adding Mark Hughe's piece: https://www.forbes.com/sites/markhu...-dc-female-superhero-movie-soon/#621294d795ad

The truth is, a lot is riding on how 2017 pans out. The studio wants to see how Wonder Woman performs (so far so good on that front) and how Justice League turns out, before they barrel ahead with multiple more films every year. More films will get made, don't worry, but it makes sense to ease off the gas a little and be certain about the best route ahead.

Back up the money truck and give her what she needs, WB needs to not be stupid... not to mention the budget was lower for WW.

I think they'll know what they have on their hands come Comic Con. That gives Joss a good month or so working on those new scenes and pick ups to see if the movie is going in the right direction. With only Aquaman coming out next year (which I still think is a HUGE fucking mistake and is going to lose them a ton of momentum), they're gonna have to keep the hype train moving.

With the article saying they're moving ahead with JL Dark and Batgirl, I think that means Sirens is gonna get pushed even further out, which makes sense with Ayer doing Scarface. If they start to shoot Batgirl, Batman, and SS2 next year, that means Batgirl will at least have an intro to the audience so she can pop into Sirens without it being totally out of left field. Though, I don't know if WB wants a Batgirl AND Batman movie out in the same year.

I hope not... an all Gotham year isn't how you make this DC brand bigger... they need to develop good films for Flash/AM so they have variety and aren't just relying on Batman. Otherwise you get franchise fatigue.

Yeah, I'm with you there. I don't want 3 Bat-verse flicks in one year. I want to see Flash, Shazam, or MoS2 way sooner than 2020. WB should be shooting for 3 movies a year starting in 2019 (god that seems so far away).

For sure we know Batman is 2019 and that's about it. I wonder if they'd take the chance and try to get 4 movies out every year? Just look at the slate they have announced, how can they fit all these in by only doing 3 a year?

Batman
Batgirl
Nightwing
Sirens
SS2
Flash
MoS2
Shazam/Black Adam (this should honestly be one movie and not two)
Cyborg (well all know this ain't happening or will be turned into a Titans movie)
Green Lantern
Wonder Woman 2
Justice League 2
Justice League Dark

That's 13 movies! If they did 3 a year, that's 4 years; 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022. Fuck I don't want to wait until 2022 for Justice League 2 or Green Lantern or even Wonder Woman 2. These actors aren't getting any younger either and the strains on their bodies to stay in shape is brutal.

Naw Warner knows how to treat their directors... for better or worse... how we ended up with Jupiter Ascending

Yep. Wonder Woman earned Patty a blank check at Warners for the next 20 year.

She can be like, I want $100mil to make a sequel to Altered States, and Warners will give her $170mil.

Well, that's debatable under Emmerich who is known for keeping budgets in check. And not to even mention the changers that are going to happen once AT&T starts making management changes.

Also they'll cave... see Reeves.

Is franchise fatigue really a thing when you only get two movies in a single year?

Maybe not franchise fatigue, but Batman fatigue? You can only stretch that IP so thin.. they should be building up the rest of their catalogue. Marvel has done a great job with it and now Iron Man just shows up to pump up the bottom line on some films.
