DC Extended Universe |OT3| A League of Academy Award Winners

Loved the trailer!!! Watched several times now. Loved that the MoS theme was playing towards the end.

Some in the OT are annoying as hell though regarding how Batman was talking about Superman. Dislike a film but don't start ignoring or lying about things that take place in the film.

It's just being super nitpicky and a way for people to trash this version of Superman really.

In universe there are tons of examples of why Superman Is a beacon of hope.

So you guys saying I shouldn't bother even starting reading the OT thread? ;) might as well unsubscribe and save some me some time lol.

It wasn't executed well in the past films to the point where you can kinda consider this a soft retcon. But it would be on par with the Bucky friendship retcon in Winter Soldier (which was executed very poorly in The First Avengers), so it's not a big deal.

Is it a retcon if it happened in the past film? It's one thing for them to totally make it up for JL... it's another for users to just ignore entire parts of the BvS movie.

It's only a retcon if you weren't paying attention to what was going on in BvS, which is the case for a lot of the users on GAF.

Man I was expecting more action shots. That shot of Batman fucking that parademon up, I NEED MOAR.

Also, Steppenwolf's voice is swag as fuck.

Also, there's no mention of JL2 in the DCEU slate. Where the fuck is Darkseid then?

I'll be honest that I'm not thrilled by Flashpoint. Not the idea that it may course correct things in the DCEU, but as the subject of the first Flash movie. I wanted the Rogues team up or something along those lines, mostly standalone Flash movie.

I dont know what to think of that slate, they didn't list movies who already have directors attached (Nightwing , Gotham city Sirens).

I thought standalone Flash is supposed to happen before Flashpoint?

That's why I considered it a soft retcon. It wasn't executed well, but enough pieces are there to support it that you only need a soft rejiggering to make it work.

I also can't fully blame people for this. The theatrical cut was so poorly put together that I don't blame people for checking out of the film.

Like others have said. The slate doesn't mention some movies and it doesn't seem to be in any particular order.

I at least think we should get a proper Flash movie first. Then go into Flashpoint. Make the gravity of his mothers death too much and he decides to change it. Perfect idea for a sequel.

As much as I'd love to be wrong, I highly doubt that The Batman is happening in just over a year. That's definitely going to be a 2019 film at the earliest, imo.

As an aside, does anyone here have any ideas for who Warner Bros might get to helm Flashpoint?

Honestly, switch out the Cyborg movie with Man of Steel 2.

Flashpoint is likely the title for the Flash movie and I have a feeling it's not going to change anything in the grand scheme of things.

LOVED the trailer.

It's only a shame that Ares and Steppenwolf look so similar in the DCU. My wife was watching the trailer and she said, "So Ares is the villain again?" I know why she would think that.

That said, I loved his dialogue.

I think it's just an excuse to get Jeffery Dean Morgan in a batsuit rather than to recast Batman for the franchise. You don't need a movie to explain something like that away.

I feel the same, but they have slots for March 23, 2018 and July 27, 2018. What the hell do they fit there? I can't think of what else they have in production.

Yep, Steppenwolf looks like a video game boss character in a freaking Dark Souls clone. However, the actor behind him does a good job, as expected.

I think it's a bit beyond just recasting for Batfleck. If THR does have it right and WB's plan is to usher Affleck out from the DCEU via Flashpoint, it's probably being done so that they can accomplish a few canon changes besides a basic recast- namely making Bruce younger and wipe the "Kill Count" off of Batman's slate from BvS.

Honestly, I have no clue- but I doubt it's The Batman. Matt Reeves has already confirmed that he's making a new script from scratch for The Batman and that he's taking a break after finally wrapping up War for the Planet of the Apes.

This is the only thing I think they fucked up regarding Steppenwolf, they should've added some red to the armor because ,otherwise, it's comic accurate.

Now people think the hologram is Supergirl, calm down.

That is not going to happen, not when she's got a show going on tv.

Unless they got Melissa Benoist to play her in the movie too.

Iirc, in the Flashpoint movie, doesn't everything return to normal at the end? Why can't it be the same here? It doesn't have to mean Reboot, it could just be a fun alternate universe type thing.

Also, I definitely see a hint of red at the end there with Alfred. Plus you can hear boots walking up. Who else could it be?

I didn't wanna be the one to say it, haha. But yes, everything comes back to normal at the end so I don't really get why everyone thinks it's just going to fix everything.

Because that would be stupid. All the characters you love are being dicks to each other. And then it goes back to normal? Great movie.

Plot leak by the always reliable hacker known as "4chan"

An alliance between humans, amazons and atlanteans repels Steppenwolf's invasion in pre-historic times and three Mother Boxes are left behind and split between them.

On present day, Batman and Wonder Woman are recruiting a team of meta-humans to protect Earth from an extraterrestrial threat. The Flash agrees, while Aquaman and Cyborg decline.

Cyborg's father, Dr. Silas Stone, is kidnapped by Parademons and the humans's Mother Box is stolen. Cyborg then joins Batman, Wonder Woman and Flash as they venture into the Parademons's nest on an abandoned tunnel connecting Metropolis and Gotham City.

Meanwhile, Darkseid's enforcer Steppenwolf arrives on Earth to retrieve the Mother Boxes, having learned about them from Lex Luthor's experiments with Kryptonian technology, and steals the atlanteans' Mother Box, prompting Aquaman to join the heroes.

The heroes fail to prevent Steppenwolf from stealing the Amazons' Mother Box and find out Steppenwolf is planning to use the Mother Box to open a portal and bring an army of Parademons to invade Earth, and has kidnapped scientist so they can revive Superman.

The heroes rescue Superman from the Parademons and revive him with Lois Lane's help, but he's overwhelmed by the experience and flees.

The heroes confront Steppenwolf and his army on their own and are nearly defeated before Superman joins the fight. Cyborg realizes he's connected to the Mother Boxes and manages to reverse the portal to send the Parademon army back to Apokolips. The heroes then defeat Steppenwolf and send him back as well.

For his failure, Steppenwolf is executed by Darkseid, who vows revenge against Earth. Lex Luthor arranges to be released from Arkham Asylum and also plans revenge. The heroes are embraced by the public and decide to keep fighting together as the Justice League.

I hate how awful Ben looks compared to BvS. He was such a pretty guy. Guys, stay away from drugs :(
Drugs keep you slim. He's just bloated from alcohol.

Not in the comics, no. Flashpoint changes some things. IIRC it creates the Nu52. Or that was the explanation from before the Watchmen fuckery (Which I'd love for them to add to the DCEU)

I only want it to serve as a what if elseworlds style story as well. Not an excuse for a bunch of changes. If they wanna change something just change it

But I think a movie like flashpoint would only be effective deep into the slate. It should be near the last thing that comes out on that announced list

Also is it replacing flash's solo movie? That would be a shame.

I didn't really feel that trailer. Just ok.

Aquaman remains the MVP.

That poster was GOAT though.

And I think that person at the end with Alfred is gonna be a a Robin.
