Dead Rising |OT| Chop Till You Drop Remastered

If that happened on PC we would had multiple threads on gaf already and those youtubers would all jump on ''fuck capcom'' train.
It's only an issue when/if pc version is affected.

And I'm not even talking about poor framerate and other issues that are also there. This is a game breaking issue that you encounter immediately when launching the game.

Eh, DR2 and OTR online support is broken on PC. Only works if you connect in a very specific way.

I don't get it how to play DR yet, so many people to save, so little time.
When i doing first case after shooting Carlito guy, i can save to guys behind barricade and lament mom, but where to take them? I run after Brad and after cutscene with old guy closing the door he just disappear, where to go next? I tried going to the first corridor which leads to safe zone but its full of zombies now, i can't lead 3 people there..Damn, this game is frustrating as hell.
PS - also at 19:00 all "night" fall all zombie turn red-eyed, its like they are more angry now?

To rescue survivors you need to take them to the warehouse from Paradise Plaza up the elevator and into the air duct. It's a bit of a pain, but once you get the hang of it it goes pretty easy.

To stay on track with the story use the watch to see when the next case file starts. The watch can also put an arrow on top of your screen to follow to a set objective. Miss a case file and you'll be starting back at your last save.

Remember if you're hitting a wall start a new game on your current save and you'll keep your level+perks+moves. The game has a pretty short story (about 10 hours if you can complete it in one play through), so the replayability comes from saving new survivors and killing other psychopaths. However it is possible to save every single survivor and kill every single psycho from a fresh start. I've seen it done and it was epic!

You don't need to save everybody on your first play. The first time a good time to explorer and find where good weapons and food are.

You're not supposed to do everything on your first playthrough. Just ignore the story and rescue survivors, fight bosses or just get level-ups (and learn the map incl. weapon spawns etc.). Do the story on your second run when you're familiar with the game mechanics.

So i need to backtrack through park? Or just don't bother until i leveled up a bit (because that women can't even run fast, so i need to carry her)?
PS - also shooting controls suck, can i change it? Like aiming with RIGHT stick?

This is the most important take-away for a newcomer.

That sounds insane, I barely manage to do that at max level.
It can be done even without using any of the absurdly overpowered weapons. Highly enjoyable playthrough and most fun I've had with the game, because it requires constant and meticulous planning.

Played through DR1 several times (again), and it is without question in my personal top ten GOAT list.

So, I've rolled onto DR2:OTR, which I never played the first time around, and it's not just the PS4 with issues. It's unplayable on the XBone. Usually I'm pretty forgiving on tech issues, but this slideshow framerate is game breaking.
I tried DR2 also to check that, and it has the same problem. Disgusting. I don't know how they can release such broken games.

It's not just me either.

Dude, the shooting controls for DR1 are basically Resident Evil 4 "stand your ground" kinda aiming. If you were looking for right stick aiming, DR2 has it.

Whoo just need Transmissionary for the DR1 plat then off to DR2
Wonder if I'll just go for Off the Record since I never played that one

I'm still killed or my 3 survivors get stuck or killed (or even commit suicide), don't know what to do.

Honestly don't worry if some survivors die on your first run through, just save who you can. It all becomes easier later once you know the layout and you're more levelled up.

You also unlock a shortcut that lets you go instantly to the other side of the map if you save
the guy being held captive on the ride by the chainsaw clown

About safe zone - should all survivors climb ledge and be near vent to safely rescued or they can be near it? Because often they are so stupid that just run in each other and don't climb, i don't want to lose experience points..

Finally got the DR1 Remaster. Played the game a couple of times back when it came out on 360, eventually managed to save every possible surviver you could save and hadn't touched it since. Man, I forgot how rough the game is when you're playing a fresh character without any skills.

Speaking of, I had heard that the remaster had multiple save slots, so I assumed that if for whatever reason you wanted to start from scratch you could just select a new, empty slot. But as far as I see it, at least on PS4, this just means that you can save on a different slot during your game and if need be roll back to an earlier save, but not that you can, like I assumed, juggle a bunch of completly independent character saves. Like, there's no "Start new game on slot 2" option. Or am I missing something?

Survivors will follow you to the safe house once they're on the initial stepping stone.

"New game" in the main menu should allow you to choose between slots.

I usually don't make them follow me up when I've got a group, I'll just direct them up there LT+Y/▲ and bump into them to try and "herd" them into allowing them to go one at a time. Although it appears that's what you're doing there anyways...

Yeah, you should be able to choose your slot when you start a new game.
Edit: just loaded a new game using an empty slot and yes, super green level-1

Guess I gotta see whatever the New Game option does, next time I boot up the game. I just finished my first run through.

But in my game, on PS4, under the change slot option it doesn't say Slot No. 1, but "Load..." instead and picking that just lets me select one of the already existing saves (Which in my case is just one.), no empty slot.

What i need to do in Overtime mode? I bring queen bee to Isabella but she don't take it, just chat about something and there is not objectives given to Frank. Maybe i need to wait for something???

Holy crap, I've been playing this game so much the last few days.

I finally got the Saint achievement, so then I went back and did it on the old 360 version too. Now the only "hard" one I have to worry about I think is the 7 day survivor one I think...

It's been so long since I actually played the game. I have yet to beat the game in Overtime mode I can't remember when
I need to take the Spitfire shake for the final boss.I guess I'll just make it now and hold on to it. edit: oh, I just learned that the somersault wrecks this dude.

edit:
I find it kinda interesting that a higher percentage of people got the Saint achievement on Xbox One than on Xbox 360

I don't think that Saint is too hard to achieve (even i did it ;) )
Also, is it me, or Infinity Mode is boring as hell? Absent "save&quit" option does not help either..
Time to move to Dead Rising 2, i guess!

Makes sense to me tbh -- people who REALLY liked the original are more likely to play the remaster, and those are also more likely to get achievements.

Nope not just you. The hardest part of 7 day survivor is boredom

Just finished Overtime mode in DR1. It's crazy how much I could still remember even though it has been 10 years since I last played this.

Back then this was the first game that made me feel like I was having a real next-gen experience.

And all I knew beforehand was that you're in a mall and kill hordes of zombies with whatever you can find. The time management aspects, rescuing survivors, the crazy boss characters, and Overtime with it's completly out-of-nowhere final boss all took me by surprise and I kinda wish I could experience it like that again. At least it's still as fun and janky as I remember it being

You have oodles of time for Saint if you have a maxed-out NG+ Frank, indeed. It's a different matter entirely however if you attempt to do so with a fresh save, especially if you steer clear from the overpowered weapons.

Ok Off the record spoilers here. This is probably really petty considering how over the top and ridiculous Dead Rising is but
that boss fight against Stacy. Come on really? A giant robot?

That combined with
the fucking gas zombies (thanks for reminding me why I love the first one so much more)
really soured my enjoyment

Ehm ... how do I save in Dead Rising? I played the beginning, leveled up, saved two characters and saved on the bench in the security room before exiting. Now I restarted the game and I have to play from the beginning. Don't have a map anymore, am on level 1 and have to do everything again from Day 1, 12:00 (including the opening where the zombies break into the mall).

I wonder if you had a Steam Cloud Save error as you can save on the bench in the security room.

Check your save slots to see if you are loading the right game.

PS4. Triple pack was cheap on Black Friday so I went with console this time^^

Only 1 save slot.

Edit: Okay, worked now. Maybe I didn't overwrite properly earlier and didn't save^^

First time I saved my game on the security room bench it didn't work either. Save in a restroom next time and I bet the bench will work the times after that.

Yep, same "bug". Now everything is perfect.

About the game: Surprisingly good Zombie Survival Horror. All screenshots always make it look goofy (and yes, I too dressed up as a women and started throwing diamonds at the undead), but the game has a great 80s horror feeling (100% Dawn/Day of the Dead nostaglia^^). The urgency, the open area, the difficulty make it a really nice experience. Love it so far :) Much better than DR3 because it is more horror and less quest markers.

Can anyone link me to a video of a fresh start 100% run saving all the survivors and killing all psychos?

Was this attempted at Games Done Quick?

Basically the game lets you do goofy stuff and most of the optional bosses are goofy as fuck, but the main story is kinda like the early RE stories, were you're left thinking "Wait, are they for real?", but it's played entirely straight, safe for a few psychopath bosses who are part of the main story. (The supermarket owner for example.)

Okay, the way the zombies get into the mall is incredibly silly as well.

The dialogue can be straight out of RE but Dead Rising also subverts a lot of videogame tropes.
There are multiple endings but none of them are good, they're all miserable in their own way. There is no dramatic final battle with the mastermind behind the outbreak, he instead gets offed by one of the psychopaths lurking around the mall after getting injured in his fight with Brad.
The story in DR1 is a lot better than people give it credit for.

It's too bad DR3 and DR4 happened and ruined everything about
Isabela and Frank
for the sake of a rubbish plot twist and some one liners.

So I finished DR for the first time. Fantastic game. Downloaded DR2 on PC to continue and what do I see? Controller is greyed out even with my Xbox One controller plugged in (Wireless). Is there a fix for that (a lot of people mention it) without 3rd party programs? I have no interest in Joy2Key, X360ce etc. because that usually causes problems with streaming. Other option would be the Steam Controller but I rather use the Xbox controller (comfortable and button prompts). Another problem: Game crashes whenever I try to set MSAA. But that could be a MSI Afterburner issue.

How's the performance of these on PS4 nowadays? I read the DF overview which was pretty damning at launch.

Have there been any performance-improving patches?

Performance was never bad, really, the PS4 and Xbone just don't have enough CPU power to have DR2/OTR run at a consistent 60 FPS.

Anyone else have issues trying to play the game on Steam using a PS4 controller? I've tried so many different methods and all of them give me different problems. Using the native PS4 support from Steam makes the controller pretty much un-responsive in game and using DS4Windows kinda works, but there are no button prompts and it feels like some things are mapped incorrectly.

I'm actually getting no button prompts (at least not Xbox ones) at all.

Does anyone sing to themselves "lean on me" when you have to shoulder survivors to the security room? Just me....? Okay. :(

But yeah, back at it again at Willamette mall and it's still fun as hell.

It has drops but it doesn't have constant technical issues. Runs pretty well most of the time on PS4. I haven't played DR2 Remaster but that seems to be the one with issues on PS4.

Had my internet go out for about six days and abused it to beat the crap out of Dead Rising. Managed to beat the game, save all the survivors, and finally made it through Infinity mode for the first time since it was basically impossible on the 360. Even made it through the initial 7-days without using mall supplies with plenty of pizzas and stuff left over. Too bad I died because I wasn't paying attention and ended up having Frank stare at a book instead of eating =P

Final time.

Jessie wouldn't stop making this pose for like, a minute when I found her. Must've filled up on special forces before Frank got to her.

Just two misc shots I took for the novelty of them being enemy survivors. Just give me the Popsicle, Brad!

Yeah, I was surprised at how the plot was still pretty good in spite of it not really having much right to. Not winning any awards, but it does some cool stuff I wish later games did.
