Dead Rising Remasters detailed; U$19,99 each or U$49.99 for the collection

I forgot about this. Microsoft still had the preorder price in effect so I went ahead and bought it. Hopefully I actually play it.

Anyone who played DR1 on 360:

Get some survivors to follow you. Go to the safe room.

Bask in SSD installed glory.

First impression of the Dead Rising steam port.

It's fantastic and fixes almost every problem with the 360 original including load times.

It's weird playing this without the 360's ridiculously jacked gamma, but it's smooth as silk with 144 hz and gsync. I shut off motion blur, but there's no option to disable the ever present DoF.

Anyone else having issues with saving? First save worked fine, but now I keep getting an error after meeting Jessie and Brad.

Looks like you cant buy them individually till tomorrow. For the better i guess. Instead of sn impulse buy right now because of the sale price i can wait and see what people say about the ports.

question: in options what is the difference between classic and arcade for aim mode?

because in game options there is already one for aiming based on where frank is facing or where the camera is...

This is happening to me. It happened right when i tried to save for the first time. The save shows up in the saved game list but when i quit and try to load it, the save is corrupt and it makes me start a new game.

classic puts the control on the left stick (like the 360 version), arcade puts it on the right stick (like DR2 and most third person shooters)

As someone who never played the original Dead Rising, any tips going into it?

How strict is the time limit? And do you just lose if you don't meet the time requirement?

its meant to be played multiple times to learn the layout and level Frank up. just play around and have fun. follow the time limits as best you can and eventually you'l start over with more moves and better stats as well as an understanding of where to go and what to do.

dress up and have fun killing zombies.

you should accept the idea that you might want to restart the game once or twice (carrying your level over)

Does the PC port of DR1 support any aspect ratio like 2 and Off the Record? I have a 5:4 1280x1024 monitor and if it gives me black bars during gameplay I'd rather just buy the PS4 version to play on my 1080p tv.

The time limit is strict if you want to do every side quest in addition to the main quest (especially if you're low-level) but you can make things easier on yourself by only taking on minimal sidequests until you're prepared to do more. (Of course, the more quests you successfully complete, the faster you'll level up, so there's incentive to try and push yourself.)

If you run out of time on any main quest, you'll fail the main story, but you can keep playing - at that point the mall is basically just a sandbox, although you will still get sidequests to do. Quests completed after failing the story won't go to waste either; at any time while playing, you can restart the game (the three-day period) with all your accumulated levels and experience points.

Basically, play through the first case file. Restart the game when you die until you beat it, then ignore the other case files and play through all 72 hours to get the B ending. Learn the layout. Do side quests. Save as many people as possible. Have fun. Don't miss the helicopter. Once time is up and you get ending B (one of the better ones infact), start over (with a levelled up Frank!) and go for the case files.

When doing case files, once a case file is available start it and focus on it until it is finished... then take care of any side business you want until the next case file becomes available. You'll want to do certain sidequests on the second time through to gain certain weapons and shortcuts.

While I don't have a 5:4 aspect monitor, setting the game in windowed mode allows me to select "1280x1024 (5:4)" in the options menu. The game renders in full frame without black borders, albeit in windowed mode.

1 is a fine wine, 2 is a McDonalds cheeseburger, Off The Record is a Red Robin burger and 3 is gum off a hobo's shoe.

Did 3 give you a wedgy and then pull your panties down in front of your crush? 3 was great. Way better than 2, especially with making the combine weapons mechanic free from having to find a utility room or whatever that was called in 2. I enjoyed it as much as 1 and I played the shit out of that 1st game.

IMO 2 is an excellent game more like 1 and 3 is bad.

MSAA.

Oh, and give the motion blur a chance people, it's still one of the best motion blur implementations imho.

PC Version? PS4 Version? If PC version, are there only msaa options (msaa 2, msaa 4, ...) or is there also an option for fxaa?

I ask because i hope the ps4 version will have msaa, and if the pc version doesnt have a fxaa option then i could be reassured that the ps4 version will hopefully also have msaa!

Dead Rising 1 is amazing; but I personally loved the addition of combo weapons in Dead Rising 2 and gives it a bit more oompffff for me. It's very close though. Very close....

2 bought in Zombrex runs (not that tedious) and the combo weapons, whilst interesting, were far too limited to be interesting on a long term basis.

Actually I just remembered you can make a lightsaber with a torch and some diamonds. I strike my last comment from the record. Still, 2 lacks the initial magic of 1 for me. I'm going to buy 1 now and wait for 2 to drop in price later on.

LOL. Talk about different strokes. :D To me 2's game mechanic got too tedious towards the end. Found 3's approach refreshing while having enough Dead Rising DNA.
If anything, 3 tried its damnest to strip most of the original Dead Rising's DNA in favor of additional combat extravagance in a game that always had shallow fighting mechanics.

Timer may as well not exist with how overly lenient it was, difficulty was all but removed with how overpowered you are from level 1 onwards, inventory management is heavily de-emphasized in between making magazines permanent unlocks + the ability to craft anywhere + weapon lockers existing among other reasons, survivors are begrudgingly kept as an afterthought now with for starters no further importance after rescuing them, routing is not important anymore with constant waypoint indicators on top of how the bloated open world is designed to witness everything with a single playthrough, et cetera. There are plenty more negative developments than the above and Nightmare Mode was a joke of a compromise for those who wanted something true to the formula.

how are the remasters performing compared to the original versions graphic/framerate wise? Is there any noticeable performance upgrade?

Is DR1 really the only one worth getting? I'be never played the Dead Rising games.

They are all worth playing, even 3. DR2 (and Case Zero) is my favorite. I just really enjoyed Fortune City more than Willamette Mall. Combo weapons are good, and general mechanics are improved over 1. 1 is of course the freshest one, and there plenty of things people just might like better from Frank to the side characters and story. I like OTR, but not as much as 2. Think I just like Chuck more than Frank, but OTR is also way easier than 2. 3 is fun, but it never really feels like a Dead Rising game and Los Perdidos is bland. I did like Nick though and seeing the story continue.

This option should make aiming more responsive (no slowdown).
Classic is with the slowdown effect (feels rather floaty).
Arcade is without.

It probably should've been named differently.
