Loved the movie, opening was okay but not great but after that it picks up big time.

I want to see more Negasonic Teenage Warhead in the next one, loved her personality and power. Colossus was exactly what Colossus should be like but I'd be okay with him not being in the next one in favor of another X-man(Wolverine being the dream).

Ditto x1000.
In fact, I would like to see her in the comics retconned as this version of NTW. Hand wave that shit.

holy fuck the first showing at 10:30 was packed. Literally every seat was full. When the movie ended there was a guy yelling at his son about it being an R rated movie.

I really enjoyed it, it wasn't as good as Guardians or Ant Man for me, but I'll be buying the digital version when it goes up on Amazon and I've only ever done that with the former two films.

I'm very happy for Ryan Reynolds that this is a success though, the guy deserves it so much.
Wait for the uncut/director's cut. Should be glorious.

I really enjoyed this, but... I felt like the trailers revealed too much - Am I the only one feeling this?

Throughout the movie felt like most the important scenes were spoiled via trailers

Dunno loved it as a whole though but kept thinking the trailers showed me too much

and negasonic might be my favourite xmen i've never heard of

Not alone. A lot of the really good bits were revealed in the trailers.

Seeing the opening 20th Century Fox opening made me remember what was missing from my last visit to the cinema, prior to this film.

The Force Awakens

On the bus home from the cinema niw. While the story was as 101 as you can imagine, I felt it worked since the story was acting the part of "the straight man" to deadpools deadpoolishness.

Really enjoyed it

And finally the review i have been waiting for from Double Toasted.

Link

Spoiler!
All 3 of them liked so much they gave it a Full price and well deserved!

Great intro movie for Deadpool. This role was made for Reynolds and I'm glad they were able to give this movie the full mature level treatment it deserved! Can't wait for the sequel/s.

I feel like some of these reviewers don't get the character or the style of the comic very well.

"It's fun for a while, and then it all becomes deeply disheartening, because calling attention to the more businesslike mechanics of superheroics isn't subversive when you're also playing right into them."

"This one's got attitude. If only it weren't quite so self-satisfied with that attitude. "

Well... yeah. It's Deadpool.

It was good. Reynolds is great.

Knowing nothing about the character other than the occasional pic posted online with zero context, was kinda surprised (and satisfied) by the portrayal, which is angrier and sadder than I'd anticipated.

just got from seeing it holy shit that was amazing everything i could hope for

ferris bueller post movie stinger at the end was amazing

I think the implication was that Marvel Studios doesn't need to be at the helm in order to get their characters right.
Yeah, they finally learned a thing or two from Marvel studios. I was so happt we got real Collosus for once after being forgettable in every appearance. Hopefully we get real xmen cosutumes eventually

this its my biggest gripe when the studios like to take their own take on the characters and give them dull costumes just fucking make them look how they are supposed to look this movie did x men more justice then the fucking x men movies they nailed collosus in this

I enjoyed NTW shedding her outer coat after her first charge to fully reveal her yellow X-Men digs. They really should just go all out with them.

Colossus was that much if a good two shoes in the comics? He did play off of Deadpool well.

Colossus had more lines in a Deadpool movie than three X-Men films combined.

haven't seen it yet (watching it later in the evening) but i heard he's pretty fun in this. love the xmen movies from singer but collosus was barely an entity in those. can't believe that actor turned down the role in this lmao.

as if he's busy with work or something.

Just got out of the theater and the movie delivered beyond my wildest expectations. Ryan Reynolds is the deadpool we deserve, absolute perfection.

Too busy with some background role in Warcraft...

How the fuck do you turn this film down?
One among many reasons why it's the best x-men movie.
Indeed!

Was it the marketing? The word of mouth? Deadpool audience was bigger than expected?

Even if you draw comparisions to stuff like Guardians and Ant Man doing well despite being obscure, those had the general appeal of being part of the MCU.

So what's the perfect whirlwind of factors that is making Deadpool so successful?

Marketing
Word of mouth
Timing. There's really nothing out right now
Reynolds is actually a pretty popular actor
Mahvel movie

There's one. Just one.

There's a green lantern reference in the opening credits but it's visual. Not sure why people keep overexagerrate the amount of green lantern jokes.

theres a couple verbal ones main one i can remember is
when hes being wheeled in to get his powers he asks if his super hero costume not be green or animated

That's the only one I picked up in 2 viewings. If there was more, they definitely weren't obvious. Again, the collector card was a visual gag in the opening credits.

Speaking of marketing I am hyped to see what the they come up with for the sequel. Like holy shit the marketing for this movie could not have been any better.

lol, that's harsh, man.

While I've enjoyed all of his X-men movies, the Brian Singer school of thought of "if you're not one of the 3-4 main characters, you're window dressing" is such a waste of potential.
I've always wanted the X-Men movies to kind of be standalone with some characters getting rotated around to make way for fresh faces. Have the classic five fighting Magneto one movie then Wolverine and a bunch of young students go to the Savage Land the next.

What they've got going on right now gives some good character drama, though. We don't get much of that in comic movies.

it's either make them all have their moments and lose the depth that the few have or go the other way and give xavier/magneto/wolverine a lot of development.

prefer the latter over the former a lot myself. i don't see much in the way of that kind of drama in other comic book movies outside of the nolan ones.

so
Vanessa
is not
Copycat
at all in the movie?

I think there could be a better balance though. First Class still suffered from an excess of window dressing characters but it was definitely better at making secondary characters feel like actual characters. Despite the movie being focused primarily on Xavier and Magneto, Beast and Mystique still got pretty decent mini-arcs and Moira was more than just fluff as well. It's just weird that for a series that's based on a team book, the story is never about the actual team and instead about a handful of key team members.

If they ever reboot it, they need to go back to the First Class template. I'd want them to focus on Jean, Scott, Warren, Bobby, and Hank coming together as a team.

I caught two, one of them is in all the trailers ("Please don't make the super suit green. Or animated!"). Unless I forgot a third, which is still possible.

Again, that's the ONLY one people mention. No one seems to be able to bring up any others. Which tells me they either don't exist (I've seen it twice, I only picked up the one) or they were so subtle they might as well not exist.

Spoiler related to the opening credits:
The other one is in the opening credits. The wallet of one of the bad guys has a picture of a kid/someone dressed as Green Lantern. It was pretty on-the-nose, right on the screen.
