Colossus was one of the best things about the film. I didn't know who he was or that he was going to be in it before I saw it but Deadpool the character needed him, the film would have been way worse without. Same for Negasonic.

The other one is in the opening credits. The wallet of one of the bad guys has a picture of a kid/someone dressed as Green Lantern.

I mentioned that one earlier. That's not really a joke. It's merely a visual reference in the opening credits. The way some posters mention it, you'd think half the movie was green lantern in jokes.

Loved it. Went to the first IMAX showing of the day. Expected there to be nobody. Nope. About 80% full excepting very front seats which were like 20%.

Whelp, in the theater now in the Imax showing about 15 minutes before start time, part of me still cant believe it happened, a Deadpool movie. Bless who ever leaked that CGI test footage over a year ago, it was the kick it needed for Fox to give the go ahead.

Ryan Reynolds is 70% sure he didn't leak it.

He leaked it

^^^Heh, I guess that makes sense, smart man!

Oh man, a guy just came to take his seat and saw a family right behind him and said, "You brought your kids?!" laughing and smiling before sitting down, lol.

If the opening doesn't clue them into the type of movie they're about to see, then God be with them...

Yeah I went and saw it a second time last night with a friend and some of the people we saw walk in, we were just like..."What are you doing here? You have no idea what you're in for". I swear there was one elderly couple that must have seen the faux love story marketing and figured they'd go see a Reynold's romantic movie.

There was a middle-aged couple at the end of my row, who didn't seem to be the type of people to see this kind of movie, and they loved it (based on the amount of times they cracked up). Very unexpected.

A visual reference can be a joke. The
Hugh Jackman mask
is a visual reference but it's still a joke.

I think the beauty of this movie is that it just hits a lot of notes.

Odds are, you're going to love at least ONE aspect of this movie if you like:

- Hot guys
- Hot girls
- Gory violence
- Action
- 80's music, specifically WHAM! (The GOAT by the way)
- 4th wall breaks
- Superhero movies in general
- Comedy

As strange as it sounds, there's kinda something in there for everyone.

Shouldn't be surprised how the fighting scenes were Blur cinematics in live action. But it translated better than expected.

I had an elderly couple sit near us who'd laugh and say "that's stupid!" throughout.

Reading all the stories about people bringing kids to this movie...

Kidsinmind.com, a site dedicated to making sure parents are able to make informed decisions about the media consumed by their children, has counted up all of the “F-words” said in Deadpool.

According to the site, there are “About 84 F-words and its derivatives.” The site gives it a 10/10 on the profanity chart. Here’s the full rundown:
PROFANITY 10 - About 84 F-words and its derivatives, 3 obscene hand gestures, 21 sexual references, 34 scatological terms, 19 anatomical terms, 8 mild obscenities, name-calling (crazy, weird, stupid, idiot, tool, hooker, mutants, douche-pool, douche, ugly mug, fugly mug, ugly cockroach, maggot), exclamations (shut-up, wow), 2 religious profanities (GD), 9 religious exclamations (e.g. Oh My God, Oh God, God, Jesus, Jesus Christ, I Swear to God).

The site also gave Deadpool an 8 for Sex & Nudity and an 8 for Violence & Gore. That all probably explains the R rating. (source)

Yup.

so
Vanessa
is not
Copycat
at all in the movie?

She has white in her various hair styles, which is a reference to Copycat
but without getting into actual spoilers (ENDING SPOILERS)
she may manifest powers later due to something that happens at the end of the film

Spoiler related to the opening credits:
The other one is in the opening credits. The wallet of one of the bad guys has a picture of a kid/someone dressed as Green Lantern. It was pretty on-the-nose, right on the screen.

Pretty sure that's actually a behind the scenes test shot of Reynolds himself in the GL armor.

I need honest impressions here. I don't really care for raunchy humor in films. I never have. I simply have never liked it and it has ruined films for me in the past. It doesn't matter if the film had good action or a good story. Should I even bother with watching Deadpool? Or at least seeing it in a theater vs waiting for it to show up on dvd, etc?

All the positive reviews are getting me psyched up! This sounds like the direction I've always wanted from X-Men movies-a different main character everytime or their own movie.

liked it

way too much time spent on serious stuff / the origin tho

wasnt expecting that. movie certainly has a moment where everyone on the theatre was like "k now lets get back to what's good about this movie please?"

shame. hopefully the sequel won't have to deal with that

Yup.
Well, at least the kids will learn something.

It's loaded with sexual humor. If that really bothers you, steer clear.

We went to the Dolbt Atmos XD showing and it was 100 percent full up. Insane. Lived up to every expectation I had.

lol, rottentomatoes unsurprisngly has a bunch of deadpool features right now but what gets me is the big parental feature saying "Better not bring your kids" on the front page. Even the critical consensus says flat out it aint family friendly.

Movie was awesome. Today was my dad's birthday and I took him to see it as he loves action and superhero movies; it's my father's 70th birthday and he loves it!

Its so funny that being r-rated is pushed hard by marketing and especially with the red fonts all over the commercials and such and theaters all mark it as r-rated but people somehow still miss this and take the kids.

Interesting article.

Article said:
“Angel Dust, played by Gina Carano, used to be three different characters,” Reese explained. “It was Garrison Kane, Sluggo and Wire. There was a reduction of action. We had a motorcycle chase between Deadpool and Ajax on the freeway that we took out. We had a big, big gun fight in the third act that we took out and we basically had Deadpool forget his guns as a means of getting around it. So there were just reductions.”

But in the end, Reese and Wernick felt like that $7 million reduction was really what brought the movie together.

“It was that last, lean and mean chop that got us to a place where Fox was willing to make it,” Reese said. “The script was very efficient and not too long. That was a function of budget more than anything, but I think it really made the movie pace nicely.”

Just came back from seeing this movie. It was freaking amazing, everything i wanted and more. Haven't laughed that hard for while.

Great audience reactions as well.

Weird thing is i saw families with their kids....

Loved it, really exceeded my expectations. Really hope this does great, I want moar.

Tons of kids in my showing lol. I thought it was hilarious. Just knew parents would treat it like a typical super hero movie.

My coworker said he was bringing his 10 year old kid to see this. I was like dudeeeee but he said he let him play the game already so there ain't no going back. I loled.

Get ready to hold on to your butt. You are about to see a real X-men movie with this one.

Just came back, loved it. Can't believe I've waited like 18 years for a Deadpool movie and finally got one and it didn't suck. Negasonic and Colossus were boss as fuck too. Can't believe how much X-Men stuff they put in there.

Also can't believe this couple brought their 7 year old boy and sat next to us. Then another couple brought their young boy too and sat in front of us. The family to our left didn't give a shit apparently, but the family in front of us kept covering the kids eyes for any sex or nude stuff. Like, wtf are you doing? Just stay home.

Just got back home from it.

I liked it just fine! It was a moderately enjoyable romp, even though it did nothing to change my feelings on Deadpool as a character (he's consistently the least funny thing in his works be it comics, games, or his movie).

I thought the structure was lame and unnecessary, some of the screentime priorities were odd, and the movie felt familiar and repetitive.

But the action was nice, I laughed about 4 times which as much as you can hope for, I liked Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead a good amount, and it tried hard to be enjoyed which makes me want to be kinder to it than the disappointments that were Age of Ultron and Ant-Man.

7/10

X-Men Origins: Wolverine > Deadpool > X-Men: Days of Future Past > The Wolverine > X-Men: First Class

Haven't seen X-Men 1-3.

Decent movie. Some good scenes here and there but like most comic book movies these days would not watch it a second time.

JUST got back from a midnight charity viewing, BYOB and all. Holy fuck was that movie awesome. Best comic film since Winter Soldier for me...

I don't think he knows what a greater than symbol is...

Anyway, I thought it was pretty fantastic. I went into it not expecting a lot but I've always had a soft spot for Ryan Reynolds.

I'm over super hero movies. I've been over super hero movies. I think most of the Marvel movies have been extremely tame for the past few years now. I've hated how interconnected everything is, how cheap everything looks, how huge the stakes are supposed to be every fucking goddamn time. It's bullshit and I really wasn't expecting anything from this buuuut

Yeah, I was very surprised. It tilted everything just enough to be enjoyable and geniuanly funny most of the time. I could've done with less pop culture references because I feel like it will age the movie terribly but maybe they'll tone it down for the sequel. It was just SO NICE to have a smaller scale movie. Sure the big bad was bland like every other big bad but for some reason at least I could feel the hate battering back and forth between them. I don't know, I came out thinking I only loved it because I'm a Reynolds fan but my friend thought it was great too.

Good Guy Collosus is my favorite. Wish I had a pal like that.

I don't think he knows what a greater than symbol is...
No, I'm fully aware!

If it helps, my massive enjoyment from X-Men Origins: Wolverine is all ironic enjoyment at its inherent atrociousness. For me, there is something really special about seeing something so beloved and set ablaze so perfectly. It's an extreme and radical disrespect of the source material that launches it into parody, and it's some of the funniest humor in a superhero movie I've seen. To this day, I think its Deadpool is the funniest depiction of Deadpool ever because of how completely wrong it is. It's hysterical.

I don't feel guilty at all for loving Origins. It's a terrible terrible movie that is so memorable and lovable that it will forever endear itself for me.

I think you made a mistake here...

And you should really watch X men 1-2
It's on the agenda. I just really hate the X-Men (hated the show as a kid and hate the movies as an adult, read some comics and wasn't happy with what I read), so I really have to force myself to watch them.

But I plan on watching every live action Marvel and DC movie, so they're all on the agenda.
