Saw it last saturday; had way more fun than expected.

Villain again was so-so, but everything else was great. Loved having Blind Al in the movie.

Why did they change it from the Weapon X program? I think they originally had it as basically Weapon X and Dr Killebrew was the main main villain, but as they were chopping the budget down, they had to consolidate characters and get rid of others and I think in that transition it made less sense that the experiment had any Weapon X affiliations. It is kind of a plot hole though. They never really explained how they would know whatever activated mutant gene would cure his cancer. I'm curious if Fox wouldn't let them tie Wolverine in to it that deep on a plot level even though it's so minor.

I'm assuming Fox wanted this to have as little to do with the X-Men as possible. They did not see this film as viable for the longest time and they only relented because of pressure from fans plus years of badgering from those who were attached to it. Considering how cut the budget was I don't think they had any hope for it until the marketing started doing wonders. So it wouldn't surprise me if any ties to Wolverine/Weapon X was a no-no. Or if they just wanted nothing to do with it after Origins. Not to mention that there is now a much larger gap from Wolverine being in Weapon X to Wade Wilson becoming Deadpool than there was in the comics.

btw... was it really him leaking the footage?

He said on the Tonight Show that could only have been one of four people, himself, one of the two writers, or the director. They all said to each other "someone should leak this" after production stalled, but nobody knows who actually went and did it. Ryan Reynolds is "70% sure" that it wasn't him (he's not going to deny it, because that would narrow the field of suspects).

[...] could only have been one of four people [...] Ryan Reynolds is "70% sure" that it wasn't him

So he is 30 percent sure that it was him.
100 percent divided by 4 people is 25 percent, but 70 percent divided by 3 (the other 3) is 23.33333333333333.

30 > 25 > 23.33333333333333

Ryan Reynolds leak confirmed?

My favourite parts of this film were, weirdly enough, the flashback sequences. Reynolds and Baccarin's (sp?) chemistry was fantastic

I can't get over how great this is. The marketing in general. It's the kind of thing you would fantasize about for a Deadpool adaptation but would never in a million years expect to happen with the blessing of major studio.

Too bad this message didn't play before every showing for real, lol. Then again, we're getting a sequel...

Edit: Aw, it's not even a real video. Oh well, still nailed it.

lmao yeah, Ryan Reynolds does a fantastic job with this character. He really is the perfect Deadpool.

After all the hype i was quite excited to watch this. Went to see it last night with 7 mates and none of us liked it.
It wasn't a bad film, but it wasn't really good either. I didn't find it funny and the breaking the fourth wall was pretty cheesy.
I'd give it a 5/10 at best

Just saw it and it was exactly what I expected. Super classic superhero movie with paper-thin plot and character motives wrapped in faux-edgy humor and violence for teenagers with a couple of 4th wall breaking jokes thrown in. Hudson Hawk back in 1991 was edgier. Probably the last Marvel movie I see. If that's the most different superhero movie they can come up with, then I've seen enough.

Went to see it today and I noticed a grandmother and her grandchild brought a ticket too so I knew it was going to be hilarious to see her reactions to the movie. Well as it turns out, the opening credits was all she needed to see to know this movie isnt for him.

I felt bad for the kid because he missed such a good movie .

Kid was also around 8, so its not that far fetched that he didnt already see sex and gore and whatnot.

Great movie and fucking hilarious. Proved that a R-rated superhero movie can work if done right.

I really loved the after credit scene referencing Ferris Bueller. It had me cracking up, but I don't think many people in my theatre got the reference.

Finally saw it yesterday and it was a really great movie, but it felt a bit too short in my opinion mostly toward the big finale in the end where Deadpool forgot (or rather Fox reduced the budget) his duffel bag. The movie really shines with a low budget though (for the extra 7-10 million for the finale), not so much explosions/CGI stuff and extra big actors who don't really need to be in the movie.

I saw the movie, which was ages ago so I really can't remember but I really loved the ending credits with Deadpool doing a mini animation skit.

Even though the marketing was amazing, I feel they skimped about the violence and cussing in the posters/billboards, making it not clear for casual movie viewers such as the people you mentioned for what the movie is going be like. The only thing that comes close is the close up shot of DP crotch with "Wait till you get a load of me".

Ferris Bueller
's end credits.

The last bit is
almost a parody of Marvel movie end credits, made 22 years before Marvel started doing it. Although part of the Ferris Bueller post-credits joke is that nobody in their right mind would actually take their eyes off the screen once the end credits start rolling (the credits actually come in late, as a side note, so looking away from the commanding final scene is never even considered), so the context is a little different from today's movies

Deadpool is a sign of a sin-sick culture where evil wins over good.

I'm hardly anti-religious (actually religious myself), but some of the reactions from shocked and offended parents and super-religious folk have been hysterical to read.

Spoilers: Deadpool is not a superhero. He's an anti-hero. Poor misguided folks who took their kids to see the film and thought he was just an X-men version of Spider-man are in for a rude awakening.

Their bad though. It's rated R and even mentions sex scenes. Must be the same parents that buy GTA for thei 6 year oldr kids because it's a video game.

Deadpool was about love to me.

I mean this is why we have ratings with descriptions of why they're rated that way. I'll give the grandma the benefit of the doubt on this one because she's probably far removed, but most parents today have no excuse.

I watched it today for the first time as it was my first opportunity.

Other than the parents that brought their baby that kept on screaming throughout the movie, the movie was great and really funny!

I fully believe that to be a parody site, as no one could be stupid enough to have "CP" be their abbreviation for their website.

I mean, fucking really? They even tell you to make CP your home page.

Sin-sick culture? The book that they teach from is rife with worse.

Had a free ticket I'd been planning to use for Deadpool and made good on that tonight. I went alone, but oh well. The girl I've been seeing had plans to see it last weekend with family and friends, so we went to see The Witch (not complaining).

I enjoyed this movie. It's not the be all end all that some people make it out to be, but perhaps it was overhyped for me. It started off really well, and had some genuinely great moments. It's also easily one of the best superhero movies, if not the best. Guardians of the Galaxy and Iron Man are up there, too.

Thankfully it's not another fucking Captain America or Wolverine movie. Yawn.

The opening was hilarious, as were its credits; the writing was smart, and the fourth wall breaking made it feel like Deadpool. They did a good job.

There were some pacing issues, though, and the villain wasn't that good.

EDIT: But holy shit, Morena Baccarin. Wow. (I've had a crush on her since before Homeland).

So...since Firefly?

Holy shit I never realized it was her from Firefly, not even while watching Gotham.

:O

I think I might've seen her in a commercial years ago. But I knew about her before I started watching Homeland, though I was a couple of years late on that train.

Never watched Firefly, though I want to. Sci-fi usually isn't for me, unless it's done really well, and apparently it's actually great.

Not to the parents that keep bringing their damn kids and then getting upset about it.

A friend of mine told me he, his girl and the kids were about to go watch Deadpool tonite.
And as much as I wanted him to go watch it, and as much as I'm sure his son probably really wants to watch it, I had to inform him it was actually an R rated movie, and then had to inform him of some of the scenes that would help him decide if he thought it was appropriate for his kids to watch.

He quickly changed his mind on taking his kids (9 & 6) to watch it. He had no idea it wasn't your usual Marvel comic movie fare.

Why do the people who say this stuff always give me Duggar vibes?
