Death Stranding |OT| Keep Walking, Nothing To See Here

Jumped of a huge cliff with the bike, it blew up, I had way too many packages. Spend 1 hour walking like a snail to my destination, desperately trying to fill the monster flask by going through rivers etc. cause my stamina was depleting fast. Also had to drop all cargo inbetween to beat up mules. Then pick it all up and continue walking.

I could have made it easier and just drop the other players cargo I took with me to deliver for them, but I said no, I will see it through. xD

Does anyone know, for example if i share resources will they disapper from my game if someone else takes it?

Or if i leave a vehicle somewhere or in a garage and another player takes it, will it disappear in my game?

Because if it stays in your game its kinda contradicts the whole idea if sacrificing something for other players.

Sharing ressources via the share locker makes them immediately disappear from your game. Leaving cargo in the world will make it disappear from your game after you've gained a certain distance from it and appear in another world as Lost Cargo. Vehicles and buildings you leave in the world and everyone of those that have been loaded into your world will stay in your world until timefall destroys them. Again I don't think there's a random system underneath it all but a certain limit to how many vehicles and structures show up in your game and I wouldn't be surprised if vehicles actually spawned as duplicates from another player's world. It's less about sacrificing those as more a lucky accident that stuff you use is also helpful to others. Different from materials and items though, those you have to sacrifice to share.

I see. I wonder how it works with roads then

Similarly I'd imagine. The game may average out the contributions of players in a shared world until they reach a hard stop in your individual world as to not have the game solved entirely for you. What I've found is that a road or two might actually be completed without your input, but for every other node I had to contribute. It's incredibly hard to say since we have no idea how the underlying server thing works. I would bet it's not really instances, a shared server that a hundred players or random number are on, but that the game will cherry pick contributions from one player and dole them out to other worlds just like if your game reads data from a spreadsheet. It looks how many structures, vehicles, roads you have in your game and compliments those based on some internal balanced metric. Pure speculation of course, but that seems like a way better way of having control over the progression of the game than just randomly coming onto a server full of builders that will happen to complete your world for you.

So something interesting I stumbled upon today:

I advanced to the distro center north of Mountain Knot and ended up attacking the terrorist outpost with a Non-Lethal Rifle.

I ran out of ammo and ended up killing someone with a pistol.

Somehow, after hearing all of that non-killing talk from both the game and a few friends, I thought the game would show me a game over screen for killing someone, sort of like MGSV did with kids.

Turns out you can kill people, you just gotta deal with burning the body later.

I ended up clearing the post out, murdering all the terrorists. Then I took a Long Range Lv2. Truck and took all of their bodies to the incinerator.

Turns out their outpost becomes a route for NPC porters. You can play the game as a security enforcer of sorts... I had no idea this would be a valid avenue!

Yeah, its difficult to know how the system works really. Sometimes i get notifications that someone used the road i build, does it mean that if i hadnt built it then this player would have had to traverse raw terrain or not? Is it an illusion or i really contributed and helped someone

I notice if you go to retrieve cargo right after you share it, and nobody has picked up anything, it shows up on the list.

"You will not be able to reclaim cargo you place in share lockers" is what the game tells me. I just tested with a container of 400 metals. Maybe someone immediately picked it up, or maybe what you saw was a similar piece of Cargo that's been loaded into your Claim list.

I think that is legit. If you are the first to contribute to a road it becomes yours. Then if someone connects the chiral network in that area the game might pull from a list of players who have started that node and push those into other people's games as that player's road. Or maybe everyone who has contributed to it gets likes.

Maybe it is sporadic? I did it with the grenades and blood packs, and they were immediately there.

There were other times items were not, however.

I think it just populates the Claim list with whatever the system wants to pull from items that have been donated. Might indeed be your donation that's been reloaded, but that should be coincidence based on the game warning you about losing that cargo.

Weather Station. Didn't use it much so don't recall whether it was a worthwhile upgrade.

If you abandon your stuff I will teleport to another player world.
And the description of the item will be your username.
And player can delivery to the near post. And you get a notification.
Vehicles only teleport to another player world when it's destroyed by timefall. And they can delivery to a garage as well

Guys mules/ demens are smart as fuck. I tried to hide in the grass, they surround the grass and start moving slow to get me
Bts can flank you as well.
Also if you are in mule territory and press touch pad Sam will provoke them by saying things like " come and get me"

This my game of generation bar none. It's incredible.

Yeah, but...

I decided to take a short cut and cut through the snowy mountain
It was awesome.

Yeah but they're sort of pushovers. I'm still pretty early in the game but I'm playing on hard from the get-go and I've managed to just fist fight and barely even get touched by a whole MULE encampment. Not sure if it's the case later on, but I think MULES should just have guns and blast you. I don't have to bolo gun yet but from what I've seen, once you get it, it's game over for them.

So, what happens if you kill

Don't worry about that.

Mules are only interested in your cargo.
Later on you will
fight the Demens. They will try to kill you

The game has light MGSV-style enemy equipment mechanics.

Give it a few more chapters and they'll load up with more challenging gear.

He he he he.gif

To be fair is not hard. It just cool to go against them. They are ruthless.

Also another I like in this game grass doesn't make invisible. If they are 3 meters away from you they will spot you.
And if you have a tower on your back forget it. No grass will save you

Just finished the story. Best Kojima game since MGS2 in my opinion.

But...
While they have Kojima written all over them, in how deep and interesting they are, the cutscenes in the last couple chapters are far too many and far too long and slow-paced. And what’s the deal with two(!) end credits?!
Overall though, as I said, best game he’s made since the PS2 era.

9/10

What's the deal with timefall? It doesn't pose any threat why would i need forecasts?
It degrades your cargo over time. So say you've been doing multiple deliveries in one go, and got caught in the rain quite a few times - either you'll have to have some repair kits with you, or find some shelter and wait the rain (or "timefall") out.

Equipment yes, but very slowly and its cheap anyway and it doesn't damage cargo, only containers, no?

Holy shit! I went out of my way to use rubber bullets because I didn't think killing would be worth it. As long as roads are available, I think I'm definitely going to go back and "clean out" a few camps.

What happens to the landscape when you fight BTs? A bunch of tar floods in, but you're able to walk around, right?
It’s too crowded and haven’t noticed to be honest. Cutting them cords baby

Try intentionally starting a BT boss fight.
Oh shit I know what’s going to happen! I let them catch me and they’ll send me to the tar and I have to run right? If I’m right then that’s nasty and I love it

Wow progressing the story it's taking way more time than what I thought, I always tend to get sidetracked by secondary quest and the will to build that damn highway 😂😂 just got to mama, damn it surely was a roller-coaster until now... Hope the rest keeps the momentum, I'm really in love with this game, only game in my life qhere I'm reading all the codex entries
