I think it's his voice and just the way he talks in general.

The more I listen to him, the more I like what he's saying as well though.

So that's where that unidentified man thing came from, lol.

I have the opposite impression. I understand that his speaking style probably comes off as charismatic to a lot of people, but it just makes him seem like a character from a movie set playing the role of 'president'. I feel the same way when Obama speaks.

I realize I'm in the minority, but politicians with presidential demeanor come across as less authentic to me, even if they're actually genuine in reality.

the Democratic party is shit though. it deserves to be shat on

Yeah, the "lifelong Democrat" boasting freaks me out. It's such a weird thing to pledge undying allegiance to.

I like this forum better but i really wish they would control the crowd. He couldnt even finish his sentence several times because they kept clapping and cheering, at least let him finish.

I hated O'Malley's line about Bernie being a independent. Parties shouldn't be worshiped.

But damn, given sometime and space to think, he performed very well.

This. From the 90s to recently, someone like Sanders wasn't welcome in the party and were relegated to joke status like Kucinich.

He's not in the party.

Are you for real? Do you not realize how binary our system has become?

If you are not a D or an R, you are DOA. Come the fuck on.

I'm totally aware. But it's not shocking to see that you get a lot of pushback from party you've shit on when you try to then run to lead them.

Nobody forced Bernie to run to be the leader of the Democratic party.

Yeah, he should have went with the Green Party and won that way right? I'm not a huge fan of Bernie, but at least he's pushing some issues on the party that they have been ignoring.

So people concern troll that his campaign, and the unlikely potential of an independent run in the general, could hand a Republican the White House... Then the same people shit on him for running as a Democrat. This makes sense.

You have a two party system. If he wants to have the slightest chance, he doesn't really have any other choice than to choose the lesser of the two evils.

Not saying that the democrats are bad or whatever. I don't know enough about that stuff to pass a judgement.

He's not running to lead the democrats though. He's running for president. And for that position, you need to be allied with dems or republicans.

Well it's not like he is winning as Democrat either. His poll numbers have sunk far behind Hillary. Most democratic primary voters are old life long Democrats. Insulting the people who decide your fate...not wise.

False. He is asking the Democratic party to make him their nominee. By default you have to become the leader of the party if you ask them to let you do that.

This is part of the reason Bernie is doing so badly. He just doesn't understand how this works.

Exactly. He hasn't convinced the party and party voters that he actually gives two shits about it so why should the party throw its weight behind him.

He's a Johnny-come-lately who stayed out of the party rather than work within it to push his policies over the years and now all of a sudden wants to be known as some standard bearer. Sorry. If he wanted a realistic way to push far left progressive agendas than he should have spent years pushing the party in that direction from within at local and state levels rather than jumping in at the Presidential level and changing party affiliations because it suited him and presented his only realistic chance to get elected.

And people call Hillary two faced and opportunistic, he's worse. He wants to come in and bad mouth a party here spent no time trying to shape or change.

Bernie's not independent. He's simply trying to salvage the legacy of FDR and McGovern by trying to get the Democrat party to go back to those days and get out of this neoliberal phase the party has occupied since Reagan.

I don't think it's as much of a lack of understanding as it is him being less inclined to play that game to get elected.

Your party allegiance is weird. Seriously.

Come on friend. If you're at least going to be shady, do it in reality.

Bernie has had years and years to join the party and actively try to push it to the left. He has refused.

well then they better get ready to feel the bern (or get out)

Dat bern.

Party allegiance is one of the weirdest things to me and part of the reason why I have never voted. Part of me hopes Clinton gets the nomination and Sanders runs as an independent because of all this party BS garbage that I keep hearing being spitted out.

You're asking for a republican to be elected president. That would be the reality of that situation.

Edit: Maybe you wouldn't care about that since you don't vote.

it's pretty disgusting imo that our political system is essentially a sporting match between two teams

I like that Bernie doesn't flip flop on Afghanistan and having to use the troops when necessary. Makes me wonder how people don't see Bernie as someone who'd use the military more effectively than Bush.

Who's talking about sanctity? Are Democrats perfect? No. Has Sanders actively worked to change the party over the years and make it better? No.

The party. Won't someone please think of the poor party?
