These are all great tips and align with what I've found as a new player also (I need to sort out my bow game though as have been sword and shielding it the whole time so far).
You can get a good bow (actually its pretty much best,
the compound long bow) in 4-1 You do have to be strong enoughto take out multiple skellies though so be prepared for the them in tight quarters.)
Souls vets:
Does this remake feel easier to you?
No. some aspects are easier as I have played many many hours of souls over the last 11 years, but rusty on other aspects because I simply forgot the secret for the given boss or enemy. Overall it is easier simply becuase I am a vet of souls not a noob anymore.
Trying to kill Armour Spider, using the Bastard Sword +4 which has been working great but seems to be too slow to get a hit in now and then shield up before he does his scissor attack with his pincers! He is destroying me.
Should I try and upgrade a different weapon, haven't found anything better really, scimitar and long sword are okay I suppose, but the bastard sword basically finishes standard enemies in 1 or 2 swings.
Your bastanrd sword is fine as long as you take the time to learn the attacks and dodge them. Notwithstanding, if you dont want to take the time to learn the attacks, you can use a
bow and cheese him or use magic for similar effect from range. There are
safe spots around the edges of the hall.
The sole method I found that can stun him at all in NG+ is Firestorm, and I don't have the mana (or the time to use Spice) to stunlock him from the start of his heal range to death.
I gave up and started over. It's surprising how much easier this is the second time, I've one shot most areas and two shot Maneater and Firelurker, the two bosses that took me the most time the first time through. I've defeated the first three bosses in Boletaria, both dragons, and all of worlds 2 3 and 4 already.
Oddly enough, the Dragon god took me like 40 tries, when I've never had a problem with him before, in either this game nor the PS3 version. I was started to question if the patch the other day may him harder.
Yeah Satsuki is tough, I will try to get the video released soon. I also was surprised how long it took me to get by Dragon god as my recollection was that he was a cakewalk. It still is a cakewalk as long as you go SLOW. Just go one pillar at a time. Using magic to kil the blockages is easy mode, but I used shield bash like in the old days and still made it. I believe there is an element of luck still but that was there in the old days as well. I sincerely think Bluepoint was not lying wen they said they changed no AI...its still the same game with different skin for the most part. Obviously crystal lizards seem like an exception...but on the other hand they have been in other games since and perhaps Im just much better at knowing how to get them?.
It seems like the Thief Ring is nearly game-breaking in a lot of places. Was this the case in the original?
I cant recall Maneaters in particular, but yeah, the poor Old Hero, the mobs in 1-3 and 1-4. Just get a bow with thief ring and go to town...you can see them but they cant see you...LOL. There is a reason theif ring was discontinued in the series. Yes it was very powerful then as it is now.
No, this dude is an npc. Looked him up - Black Phantom Satsuki. I just spent about ten minutes chipping away at him, he then heals back up to full and I just zoned out.
I presume it’s the games way of telling me to go elsewhere and level up.
He is tough, especially becuase of his late healing, but getting him down a bit (I was lucky and got a parry first swing) then stun locking will finish him off as he cant heal...I have footage, just not ready yet....doing video editing tonight and tomorrow......
ON another note! YES! The
Colourless demon souls farming glitch is STILL alive and well...this was never patched and will probabaly not be ever as it takes advantage of the time it takes to switch from your world into someone eles for PVP, co-op etc. I cant tell you how pleased I was to get 5 colourless demon souls while having fun being the old monk at the same time. Its so huge not to have to wait until NG+ to upgrade more and weapons and shileds etc with CDS in your first playthrough.
I am making a video after I finish this post but here is the low down and hopefully you heard it here first:
1.) Get wold tendency to one off black by dying as a human in the world (any world will do as primeval demons will show up anywhere but the most fun is 3.2 as you get ot be old monk for a majority of the invasions or blue stone experiences. More traffic means more CDS.
2.) Go online but do not return to the nexus at any time or this wont work again and again it will only work once per region. You can farm multiple demons per area if you stay in the area in question and keep the primeval demon there by not returning to the nexus under any circumstances.
3.) Lay your stone down beside (not in front or the primieval demon will kill you lol) and wait for the invasion message to pop up. AS soon as the first message disappears wait for exactly 1.5-2 seconds then swing with a high damage sword which will one shot the demon and grab the CDS just as the game whisks you away...you will get the CDS but when you get back from your invasion as old monk or being a blue..doesnt matter, the primeveal demon will still be there...rinse and repeat as many times as you want. If you invade 50 times you wil get 50 CDS.
Qualifications:
1.) It takes practice to get the timing right....too fast and you kill the beast for good, too slow the beast comes back but you didnt get the CDS in time. This timing was differnt in the old game...obviously with the newer system you get whisked away much faster and there is less room for error! ITS A GOOD IDEA TO SAVE TO THE CLOUD AFTER EACH ATTEMPT. THere are always screw ups and cancelled invasions and such. Saving to the cloud every one or two times at least ensures you can keep going without starting all over again in a new area. I really prefer 3.2 as I like old monk fights and there is WAY more traffic and less waiting around (despite a long cut scene and waiting for noobs to climb the stairs.)
2.) You best die to the people you face or not beat the boss as blue phantom. This just makes it faster to rinse and repeat. If you win in either case you become human and cant invade again without killing yourself. You can do it, but then you will have to kill yourself, get souls without dying, and its a long way back in 3.2! If you just cant do it (I admit its hard not to punish turtlers and backstab bone smashers, or even one shot new players as they come in the MOnk door with homing soul arrow in hyper mode) thats ok. BUt just be prepared for a long journey back. there are inevitable times where you will win before the fight even starts as the new player dies goign up the stairs. JUST DO NOT GO BACK TO THE NEXUS! This means bring ing as much grass and spice as you can carry as if you wnat to win you will need these items and cant go back to get more...there are no vendors in 3.2 and you cant backtrack to 4.1 without nexus.
Obviously as you are online and killing multiple primevel demons the world will be pure white when you return to the nexus...when you are finished its a good way to get white world tendency.
