Dennis Prager's YouTube Video Spotlight: I Learned More at McDonald's Than at College

I had a feeling I'd be pissed after watching that video, but still decided to give it the benefit of the doubt. Lesson learned.

I love how this girl (and Prager, by extension) make the comparison of a place where you work (and are being paid) to a place where YOU pay, and expect to be treated with respect.

And that line about taking care of oneself and "privilege" is some pretty damn impressive in an Orwellian way.

Mental health and worker's rights aren't particularly a McDonald's or retailers, or say even most jobs a priority.

Edit: Also, not to disrespect Mcdonald's workers but if you're learning more there than at college you fuckin up.

Oh, it's this YouTube channel. Home to thought-provoking videos such as "Do 97% of Climate Scientists Really Agree?" and "Black Fathers Matter".

Well, technically she's right but it's about an issue that's not really...uhh...a thing? Like work(in her example it's mcdonalds) teaches you basically how to take care of yourself because you have to, school is a completely different environment though.

I understand her point, but not the point of the video. You go to college for a degree essentially, to be the top of your class.

I absolutely cannot stand the culture of safe spaces, trigger warnings, and excessive coddling. I hate that people feel entitled to an environment that never challenges them, never upsets them, and never makes them consider a perspective other than their own.

I have worked in hospitality/customer service jobs for many years and have many stories of times where I had to swallow my pride and deal with shit rather than run crying to some authority figure.

You'd think this video would be up my alley. But yeesh, it's terrible. "How I Learned to Be an Unthinking, Emotionless Cog in the Machine" would probably be a better title than "I Learned More at McDonald's Than at College".

She seems almost grateful to have been in a position where expressing discontent with her working conditions would have gotten her fired. WTF?
