Destination America cancels all TNA programmes from end of September

Exactly why Vincent should prop it up. Doesn't appear to be a threat, so it'll be an easy sell.

I don't get your logic. Even when TNA was in its prime it still didn't really touch WWE in ratings and didn't stop WWE from getting super complacent with everything. Vince propping up TNA isn't going to change a thing.

If Vince throws money at TNA it will literally only be to put new content on the WWE Network, and maybe get a few other wrestlers.

The only reason I could see them looking at TNA is if it's cheap and a good opportunity to fill out the Network's content line up beyond shit like Swerved.

It would have to be really cheap though

The only thing the TNA library would be good for is for their documentaries. The Foley one could have used the TNA footage. Christian, if he ever gets one, could use the TNA footage. I guess Hogan and most of all Sting and Jeff Hardy could benefit from having that as well, as well as maybe a Eric Bisschof one.

A Rise and Fall of TNA doc would be nice as well.

Vince will definitely go after TNA for its library, but the brand itself is worthless.

I wouldn't mind rewatching some of the S.E.X. stuff and the Raven hunt for the world title when he was on fire until Triple J killed him. Those years were the best of TNA. I actually bought some of the weekly ppvs back then.

I had a feeling it was coming to an end after AJ Styles left. Frankly, I thought bringing in Hogan and Bischoff was a horrible idea. They ran WCW into the ground, and the storylines (Hogan giving Abyss his Hall of Fame ring of power?)

Now I wonder if Angle will swallow his pride and go back to WWE. Hope they can bring in someone like Austin Aries and Bobby Rude as well.

I'll miss TNA. At one time, they were legitimately putting on better shows than WWE. Their Knockouts division was really good. That Styles/Daniels/Joe match will go down as one of my all time favorites.

Maybe he was scared, maybe that was planned and it happened to fall at the same time.

I think once Vinny Mac looked at the ratings, he knew he was OK.

Yeah, although 1.5 was extremely strong for TNA. Too bad they were idiots and that led into Hogan and friends running the show for the next 4 years and killing any interest they had..

WWE didn't want Angle so I doubt they want him now as a wrestler. Still, he could be a great trainee or a on-air character.

The match I wanted from him (vs Bryan) won't happen now so I don't even care anymore.

What I'm saying is that the WWE has sucked ass for the last 15 years and it just keeps getting worse. Without legit competition, it obviously isn't getting better. Saying McMahon should get involved is tongue in cheek. But it would be best for the company to have someone push them.

WTF? Why not?

Does this mean Kurt will come back to WWE?

Doesn't Triple H hate Angle? They shot down his possible return recently and I think his personal issues with drugs and injuries scared them away. Same with Jeff Hardy.

I'd like to see the Hardys, Dudley Boys and Angle come back but I just don't think it's going to happen.

WTF? Why not?

He's banged up and they don't want him to die in the ring is what was reported. Probably has more to do with his departure from the company way back when.

I feel bad for TNA. At one point when they had Christian, Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Jeff Hardy, and Kurt Angle they had a legitimate shot at becoming real competition. Hogan and his cronies killed their momentum.

I wonder how many people are even going to be interested in becoming pro wrestlers. All the wear and tear and only one major outlet now that has the most arduous schedule and isn't known for paying anyone outside of the top tier any kind of real money.

WTF? Why not?

Not too long after Eddie Guerrero died, the WWE agreed to release him so he could let his fucked up neck and various other injuries heal, as well as to give him the chance to go to rehab and kick his painkiller addiction, while letting him know he was welcome to come back when he was ready. Instead he signed with TNA like immediately after and still has all of his previous problems (plus 10 more years of built up injuries)

So he's basically going to die in the ring, OD on something, or pull a Chris Benoit, and the WWE wants no part of it.

This is basically all I care about. I'd still like to see Angle have one last run and the WWE tag division could use The Hardy's right now

isn't angle kind of messed up, and aren't both the hardy's collectively shitty people?

I think I heard the WWE doesn't want anything to do with any of those guys

I wonder if wrestling as a whole will ever be good again. Smarks have been calling for the death of TNA for years, but all it does is bury wrestling even deeper into WWE's shittter.

Sign Angle, make him rest until next years WM then have him face Lesnar again and retire

Also they need to trick Jeff into thinking Matt is signing too, but really they don't sign him 'cause he's rubbish

Wwe will undoubtedly buy the video library no matter the price when if it goes up for sale.

You're being an asshole if you're calling for their demise as people's livelihoods are at stake. Having said that it doesn't really matter either way since TNA is so far behind WWE, they can and do pretend they don't exist. Nobody in the U.S. seems to be able to take on Vince and the foreign promotions that put out a good product don't have a chance of gaining a foothold in the U.S. The only way it's probably going to happen is if someone like Turner with deep pockets who is willing write a blank check steps up and I don't envision that happening anytime soon.

I think people are overly nostalgic for WCW/ECW, which were FAR worse run. WCW from 1999 to 2001 was an embarrassing company, with patches of good. ECW was... it tapped into a cultural zeitgeist, but the actual running of the company was shockingly inept.

i dunno, didn't Paul Heyman say on Stone Cold's podcast that when he got a look at TNA's books, they were in like 5x as much debt as ECW was when it was sold?

TNA since it's inception has always brought in "old" talent but the "old" talent wasn't past their prime in the early days of TNA and i still believe that 2002-2005 were the best years of TNA, specially 02-04 when they were doing weekly ppv's.

People can shit on Jarret and Russo but i enjoyed what TNA was doing those few years more then i have with what WWE has been doing for the last decade and i am actually really excited for JJ's new promotion.

Yep, couldn't agree more. To this day I can't understand why they were ignored by most wrestling fans back then. The X division was simply outstanding.

It's too bad the game never got a sequel. Sure it was mediocre but it had some impressive graphics (better than what Yuke's were pumping out at the time) and I liked the simple controls. It would have been interesting to see where it could have gone over time.

Wrestling might be about to reach its best point since the 90s. WWE's still around, ROH's still around and on TV/online, New Japan's AXS season 2 starts this week, Lucha Underground's great and probably either getting renewed by El Rey or going to Univision which would make it the default #2 in the US

Shocked they have lasted this long. Stories about them being late with payments and wrestlers having to work a 2nd job to scrape by have been around with TNA for 5 years.

Also I guess WWE probably has zero interest in buying the company. They are probably so in debt it wouldn't be worth it for them.

And yeah. Kurt Angle and Hardy would never be let in a WWE ring again. WWE have laid off the drug policy a bunch n recent years but no way they would let those 2 poster childs of drug abuse through the door. Angle especially is a timebomb waiting to go off.

I guess I could MAYBE see the Hardy Bros getting a RVD style run though with 3 months on, 3 months off though.

They're happy with the ratings. They're not happy with the cost of the program to get those ratings apparently and no advertiser wants to advertise while TNA is on.

Is there something about TNA that makes them toxic to advertisers?

Time for Vince to hire them all and have Cena squash them in his U.S. Open Challenge so Vince can get his boner over with.

I honestly believe Vince gives no shits and legit pays no attention to TNA at all. I'm sure sometimes someone will come to him and tell him to look at something (like doing a voice-over opening to the show, for instance), but I'm fairly certain he spends no time actually watching the TNA product.
