You know what? Fuck it. Let's start a list. It'll be fun.

What features should Bungie bring to Destiny before the first expansion?

- In-game Clan Management
- Guild Halls
- Improved encounter design

Now everyone should just add what they want to this list. It's better than spread out all throughout this thread.

Come on people. You can't ignore me forever.

You've got a good list. I'd add
-Custom games
-Fileshare
-Improved AI (if possible)
-Completely rewritten and redone story.
No /s.

if you want to hipfire, find this weapon. infuckingcredible. i don't even use ADS mid-range anymore.

HHHHHHHHNNNNNNNNGGGGGHHHHHHH

Only played like an hour into the beta so I wasn't 100% sure what to expect (but I had a really good idea), and so far it's just pretty meh. I'll probably level up to 20, do some PVP, and get my moneys worth. But the thought that can't escape my mind is "this is all it is?" Not just in terms of length/content, but the entire package. For all the hype/etc. it could and should have been more. Oh well.

There is a raid? NO SHIT

Man that is changing everything. Once they unlock the ONE raid you have 5/6 strikes and a raid. Over delivering on content.

You say this as if that's unusual in this type of game. WoW does the same thing, you level to the cap, there are 5-6 dungeons and 1 tier of raiding at release. Diablo 3 on release was even worse.

We have no idea how hard or how long this 1 raid is going to take and the expansion is being released in Decemeber with more content (essentially being a content patch). Nor do we know how they will handle additional content/changes beyond the expansions.

I'll add...

Increase public events!!!
Different patrol missions
Ability to skip cutscenes
Maybe add stats to certain Bonds you get instead of them just being cosmetic
More loot drops for earlier levels

PS3 or PS4?

Nice paraphrasing of the actual quote to back up your point.

Like I said to Darth, I got the core of it right. The actual quote isn't substantially different, unless you want to quibble over the first sentence.

Having played WoW for four years I'm quite well versed in who is responsible for WoW, but given that Blizzard and Activision are the same company now you might want to get off your horse.

Activision and Blizzard are not the same company. Activision bought Blizzard; it is a property of theirs. They renamed their company to showcase said acquisition.

I'm only level 4 but this game is so far really lousy. While the actual combat is good The encounters are all really similar. The world is very pretty but incredibly empty of anything to interact with. The missions are very similar waypoint based trudges. I feel like I'm supposed to be exploring but there is nothing to explore. Am I playing this wrong or something?

Ability to skip cutscenes, decreased loading times and fully enabled voice chat should be the top of the god damn list.

Guys, what's up with those Public Events (I think that's what they call those random missions that spawn in the middle of the maps)?

I've been playing since launch and only got 2, did they make them rarer?

That's pretty much Destiny in a nutshell.

It just irks me that they want me to pay 35 dollars when their initial "life changing, harry potter of video games" is lack luster in content and story. Give me weekly free strikes, new game modes, custom games.

I understand your frustrations, and am with you on some if it, but D3 was way more bland than this at launch. Nothing like strikes, pvp or raids, just lvling and repeating story missions and areas over and over again to get gear. BUT after 1 expansion and numerous patches they really turned it around. I'm just saying you at least have some initial variety here. Go run a random higher tier strike, pvp, try the raid (next week), go dead ghost hunting, try to find all the chests and such in patrol mode, etc. I just think if you don't initially like the diablo-style late game of grind for small gear upgrades, you probably won't like this.

I'm sure they here the complaints and don't see why they couldn't add something like an endless dungeon with leaderboards in a patch

How do Mass Effect 3 MP fans feel about this game? It was basically horde mode with loot and awesome gameplay, that's all I really need. Played it 700 hours.

Mass effect 3's weapons and powers were more diverse. All I need from this game is the pvp personally.

Like I said to Darth, I got the core of it right. The actual quote isn't substantially different, unless you want to quibble over the first sentence.

Well, if we're arguing that now. The two quotes are almost nothing alike. One is saying, "You can go everywhere!!!" The other is saying, "Everything is active geometry that we'd one day like to send you to, but we can't right now."

I think so, on x1 beta i had like 1 or 2 public event pop up when doing normal missions.
Now playing for 20 hours i had 2 public event pop up.

Are we aware of DAILY STORY MISSIONS starting tomorrow?

Tell us more?

Except your paraphrasing changes the meaning. They say it's playable space, but that you can't go there yet. That's quite different from "it's not playable space". We'll get it at some point, but it's now what, the end of the first day after launch? People (not meaning just you) need to learn some patience. Same thing applies to the bosses. Too many QTE boss fights have wrecked things.

But never mind, you want to drop it and I have a strike to do :p

I don't see how you can separate how the story is being told from the story like that. The *setting* is cool, the *ideas* are cool, the *story* is shit. There are no characters, there is no explanation, no lead ins, no follow through. Stuff happens, dinklebot drones, stuff stops happening. Rinse and repeat for 15 hours.

Because a good story can be a good story even if the delivery is bad. This is why "The book was better than the movie!" What story you get in the missions is sparse but I've found it interesting so far. I don't mind at all that things aren't being explained in-depth because the entire premise is that the citizens in The Last City don't know much of anything anymore. And being that it's an IP planned for 10 years worth of sequels and expansions, it looks like Bungie is slow playing the development on it. So, bad delivery? Sure. Bad story? Nah.

And yes, they did have great stories on day one. You could go into the theater and see Star Wars and leave massively excited and impressed. You did not having to exit the theater, pull out your phone (setting aside the fact that the year is supposed to be 1977) and go to the Lucasfilm website for 90% of the interesting material. You didn't have to wait 2 years (or even 3 months, if the expansions prove to be better) for the first individual with a personality to arrive in Harry Potter.

People didn't leave Star Wars day one and have the same drive and passion for it that fans do today. That builds and grows over time as more products come out that continue to deliver on quality and continue to surpass previous versions. That why huge IPs are always IP's that have a ton of successful sequels BUT making sequels is widely seen as the easiest way to retroactively ruin your IP.

I've already expressed that I think the delivery of the lore and backstory is a problem.

Damn.. I just got my first Public Event happen in 20+ hours of gameplay. There was absolutely no one in my instance besides my buddy who was in my fire team, and the objective was to take down a tanky as hell Minotaur whose shield recharged to full after a second or two of not being hit. What a load of crap :/

So if Activision bought Blizzard, how are they now not the same company?
Assuming you are not being sarcastic, Activision Blizzard is what's known as a holding company.

Activision, Sierra and Blizzard still exist, they are now subsidiaries.

I take it you lost :'(

I really have to hand it to Bungie and Activision for taking a risk with such an awesome concept. It's the type of game I thought I always wanted. And they're exactly the developer I would've chosen to make such a game. But either they really flubbed the execution or it was just a flawed concept from the start. They basically neutered every aspect of Halo's combat that I enjoyed in service of making it fit their bold vision.

Well, if we're arguing that now. The two quotes are almost nothing alike. One is saying, "You can go everywhere!!!" The other is saying, "Everything is active geometry that we'd one day like to send you to, but we can't right now."

It's not just "we'd maybe like to send you there someday," he goes on to say that they could go there right then, if it weren't for time constraints. The implication is that "someday" meant "launch," when that's clearly not the case. Furthermore, the overall implication that the game would have massive exploreable areas with minimal boundaries, is just patently nonsensical. There's invisible walls on top of a lot of the buildings, for crying out loud.

EDIT: Gah, why am I still arguing this? Probably 'cause I need a group to play the game with ;P

I have room for one (maybe two) more people to run strikes with (lvl 22 strikes)

Gt : KPB Mr Croft

Not a big fan of the mp... A bad version of halo IMO.

When playing in a fireteam, do your teammates have to be around the same level?
Not at all- but you need to do content that's not too outrageous for the lowest-leveled member. You can still get decent rewards no matter the level, though.
the PVP is not even worth trying until max level

How can I play versus players lvl 20+ when I'm 5 ?

This is so stupid
Damage and armor are equalized in the Crucible. I leveled from 5 to 7 in there against players of all levels. Try out a hand cannon if you are having a lot of trouble.

Alright, here's what we got so far:

What features/fixes should Bungie bring to Destiny before the first expansion?

- In-game Clan Management
- Guild Halls
- Improved encounter design
- Custom games
- Fileshare
- Improved enemy AI
- Better story design/flow
- Improved variety of Patrol missions (possibly more context, too)
- Ability to skip cutscenes
- Stats on certain Bonds ((?) legendary armor?) instead of being solely cosmetic
- More loot drops for earlier levels
- Decreased loading times
- Public (proximity) voice chat

Come on, people. We need more stuff (probably).

Anyone feel like this is the FFXIII of shooters? I feel like it has similar strengths and flaws to that game.

Strengths : art direction, music, basic combat engine
Weaknesses: Storytelling, Characterisation, level design, character advancement systems, lack of content

Thats on purpose. This game will have a huge DLC rollout and i think Destiny is a test for them to look how much DLC is acceptable in comparision to the main game not offering much content despite demanding max price.
