Are the exotic bounties random or can someone tell me exactly where fireteam tuyet's ghost is on the shattered coast of venus?

Spent so, so much time with this game over the last 4 days. My Warlock is on the verge of 26 and my Vanguard rep is shaping up nicely.

Spent some time leveling up Sunsinger this weekend as well. On paper I can see the appeal for group play, but so far the subclass just doesn't speak to me the way Voidwalker does. I'd like to take Voidwalker raiding, but I'm not sure the general feel about the setup in that environment.

Also I did get a view invites from people here over the weekend, but I was dropping games with such frequency on Saturday and Sunday that I didn't join up. Really like to play with some folks this week for the weekly strike and some other odds and ends.

Pug lvl 24 strike member got Hard Light, the exotic bullpup auto rifle that overpenetrates and ricochets off walls.

So fucking jealous.

I've had 3 legendary engrams and they've all turned into blues. What the fuck.

Also have an exotic weapon bounty for the machine gun, and naturally I get to the "talk to strange coin vendor" stage on a Monday.

OK, this is the way I understand it. Once you are at 20, you can buy optional faction class items that will then allow all reputation earned, to go toward your chosen faction reputation. (By default, some PvE events earns Vanguard Rep. and PvP earns Crucible rep.) Equip Future War Cult class item, and you will earn Future War Cult Reputation for both PvP and PvE.

To purchase any legendary gear from a vendor, it becomes a combination of required reputation rank and marks. Legendary armors require Reputation Rank 2 and between 65-120 marks. Legendary weapons require Reputation Rank 3 and 150 marks. The type of reputation and marks required by the vendor are as follows:

Am I missing something here? To me it seems far more vendors/factions use Crucible marks as the two part currency (Rep + Marks) for legendary gear compared to Vanguard marks. As far as I can tell, you can only earn Crucible marks by playing PvP or exchanging materials to the Crucible Quartermaster (eg 50 Spinmetal) Does this not mean Legendary gear available through vendors is skewed toward PvP grinding? I hope I am wrong, as I don't really enjoy playing PvP for more than a match or two.

Yes, there are more factions to buy gear from when PvPing. But they also don't really provide anything better than the vanguard items, they just look different and have some other stats. Also PvE DOES get special vendors, like Xur or the Queen's Emissary.

This is why I stayed vanguard/crucible. I don't care for pvp in this game.

Who are they? The "advantage" if you can call it that from the three optional factions is that you are guaranteed specific talents. Eg, New Monarchy, I know I will get armor that gives Intellect and Strength. Vanguard Quartermaster, it is random from what I understand. Guess it really doesn't matter much in the bigger picture. Just a gripe that all three optional factions utilize Crucible marks. Maybe some expansions or updates will change that. IMO, all three optional factions should accept either Vanguard or Crucible marks.

If you get with one of the factions, all reputation you earn goes towards them. This means I believe you can level up the faction with normal bounties and doing strikes and free roam.
Right, but you are still shit out of luck in regards to marks. You still need Crucible marks once you have the necessary reputation rank. No?

I dislike the heavy slant towards pvp. I want to use my vanguard marks. Bungie, a lot of people don't want to pvp or endlessly collect 50 materials. Give us Vanguard mark options.

Not being able to get past the first Raid boss made me more pumped to grind it out in Crucible this week. Gonna go HAM and max out my weekly Crucible and Vanguard marks, then get a full legendary set + one exotic armor piece hopefully.

For Dead Orbit or Future War Cult or New Monarchy, you need to equip their cape or whatever, only then will everything you earn in PvE and PvP go to them.

Edit: Oh yeah, you do need Crucible marks for those vendors. >_>

Please remember you also get items from your class vanguard. Those are not random and always the same and offer two different sets with two different sets of stats.

And Xur is the merchant who only shows up on friday and saturday and takes strange coins for exotic items.
The Queen's emissary is a yet to be seen NPC we know exists who will offer us items during the "Queens Wrath" event.

Finished the story missions on Sunday. My take: the story ending is far from great but it's not as awful, I think, as some make out. To me it plays out exactly like what it is: the ending of the pilot episode of a series.

Crept up to light level 22 last night. Haven't seen a legendary drop yet but I was able to get myself outfitted in all rares. Baby steps...

It's not equipped but I did score one of those rare Regulator hand cannons. Can't wait to try it out. I love hunting the Vex with the hand cannon. That enemy and that weapon just seem perfectly matched: a gun that really rewards precision versus enemies that really reward precision.

Tried the Venus strike with a couple of guys and the Archon just wore us out. Still, it was fun even though we didn't finish. I will have my vengeance, in this play session or the next.

What difficulty level were you playing? I tried yesterday and didn't get nearly that kind of loot. One blue and maybe 4 greens after about 45min. Also, were you taking out the yellow bar guys, or just letting everyone rush you? I was too afraid to lay down serious fire because I didn't want to kill the Knights.
Use a scout rifle and just aim it down the middle, that way you can avoid shooting the Knights.

vanguard marks are useless for me since I have a Dead Orbit bond equipped right? Cause it's not like my vanguard rank is getting any higher cause the rep is going straight to D.O.

Vanguard Quartermaster and your Class Vanguard accept them. Technically you can buy at all three vanguards and give the items to your alts via the vault, but eh that doesn't count really.

Agreed! I didn't like the Vanguard stuff, and I didn't want to do a whole lot of Crucible, so I ruled out leveling the rep on those two. I then proceeded to pick Dead Orbit thinking they didn't need a specific mark. Honestly, I thought they took glimmer, not marks since the cape was a glimmer purchase.

Leveled him up and find out that he only takes crucible marks...WTF! I've been doing Vanguard bounties the whole time.

yep, pretty much useless to you unless you start leveling vanguard rep

They should make strikes like mini raids as opposed to longer regular missions... by that I mean they should try to add creative ideas to the strikes like they seem to have done with this raid from what I've seen of it.

Gotta say, game is really pissing me off right now. I had 3 Legendary engrams, and two of them turned to a mote of light and a blue. I also leveled up my Cryptarch 4 times, and got only one purple in all the items gifted as a reward, which again turned out to be a mote of light.

WTF? Make a purple a bloody purple. It's hard enough getting them that dicking us over with anamolies is not necessary.

heh I had two purples, turned out to be an item I cannot use

but it's still all good

Don't know if this has been discussed, but I haven't gotten any purple/gold gear yet and I'm thinking of hoarding my marks for a couple weeks. My thinking is that I should eventually get lucky with the RNG and be able to fill in a couple of those slots with "free" gear, then I can use the marks to buy whatever else I need. If I buy stuff right away, the RNG might give me more of the same type of gear, and it will take longer to get all purple/gold gear.

It may be random but it does seem there is something going on with level. SEEMS like it.
I did the moonPCP at 6th level and not only barely got greens, and many waves got nothing, I got no blues though a random legendary did pop.

Switched to 9th level and every single wave of enemies dropped something. It was like night and day.

Can I ask an honest question regarding the Level 20 cap.

Once I hit the cap, I undestand I have to keep farming armour to get "Light". The more Light I have on my equipped armour, the more my level will increase beyond the 20th level.

So my question is - is this random? Does the game purposely monitor how many games, hours or my performance I've played and give me loot with light? Or is it random?

So basically my question is - from Levels 1 to 20, I'll get constant stream of experience to level up. After that......is it just luck as to which armour I'll get to get Light?

I posted that I wanted to join DestinyGAF, but I've not heard anything back. Is there anyone here around level 10 that would wanna try a strike or something sometime? I'd love to have some people to play with.

I don't know, I did it on 20 I think, and got fuck all.
