I just finished the story campaign, I'm a level 19 and I have yet to play one public event. Is that strange?

I'm a level 20 and I'm still on the level 12 story mission. I do it when I get bored of farming/strike playlist/weekly/daily. As others have said, story is week so I'm not particularly compelled to complete it.

Did you do everything solo?

If you finish your bounties for the day, assassination patrols in particular give 25 rep and they're piss easy. Look for the circle insignia with a star in it when patrolling.

I'm thinking of doing this when I get home, between public events every 15 minutes/half hour:

Go to Earth
Check The Steppes for Assassination mission, do it if its there if not move to Mothyard
Do the same thing, if its there do it if not go to Forgotten Sands.
Once you finish at Forgotten Sands return to orbit and repeat. If its close to a half hour mark go to the public event and do that for marks if you need them.

Unless anyone has a better route for assassination patrols I'm gonna test that out today and see how it goes.

More detail here: http://tinyurl.com/my3dlxu

Thanks for this! Will test it whenever I get this weekly strike done.

The Cryptarch's Bane
Bungie definitely needs to rebalance how they do faction/vanguard experience and marks.

Primarily up the value for doing strikes near your level. If you're going for rep why are 3 patrol missions gonna give you more than one strike?
Reward-wise you primarily do strikes for marks, not rep.

Spent half my glimmer at the Cryptarch since I don't know what to spend it on. I'm always around 25,000.

And how to get exotic bounties?
And are bounties capped?

Is it possible to exchange vanguard marks for crucible marks? Most equipment in this game costs crucible marks (including the ones from factions) but I don't play PvP, only PvE. I even got the exotic hand cannon bounty, but I didn't complete it because of the PvP part. :(

I think I'm considering not ever really farming. I may change my tune if I'm stuck at 23 (or 24 or whatever) but I still, 23 hours into the game, just love playing it, the core mechanics, I'd really hate for that to become boring in the quest for more loot that wouldn't somehow miraculously unruin making the game boring.

Like I was flipping through the Grimoire about moon missions and I actually want to replay some moon side mission, that's bonkers. I want to hold onto that as long as possible.

Let me know how it goes, I'm at work so I can't test out the run quite yet. I've heard that there are more assassination missions on Mars, so I would like to go there and see if I can map out a route for optimizing the patrol there.

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!
You're right, however, I do think Strikes should have a higher Rep yield for what they represent as a harder challenge than patrols.

Not just the challenge, but the time investment.

They seem random. I have one too. The first task I have to complete is completing 5 strikes without dying, or in other words
going AFK on easy mode Devil's Lair
What? You can easily run devil's lair without dying and it will be so much faster (and better for your teammates) if you shoot instead of hide/afk.

Question: If you run with a fireteam, and you all go different directions completing different patrol missions, do you all 3 get rep when one person completes one mission?

You cant trigger more than one mission at a time but you can all be seperate. Its actually quicker when people are all across the planet as kills build up quicker.

speaking of marks, since you can't buy other class gear with vanguard marks, is anyone even going to bother capping once you get a set of equipment you like?
Hell yes. Have to match! Besides, there are lots of weapons to try.

And more importantly, need to break stuff up for Ascendants.

Hey, 27 (might be 28 after Xur items) Titan both Defender and Striker maxed - I can't do anything this Saturday w/ you bc vacation w/ gf but it'll be nice to have another endgame player on the friendlist so I'll add you Zlatko

Hey Zlatko, also adding you. A, because FGC forever! But B, for the above.

In the same boat, though, have plans for this weekend, but after that, will be a Striker or Defender Titan and by the following weekend will have had 300 marks from Crucible and Vanguard earned and spent, so gear wise I'll be fine.

Eesh.

PSA: Spending Glimmer on decrypting greens is a losing play.

By far the best investment I have seen for your glimmer is these:

Heavy (and possibly Special) ammo synthesis. IMO, they should be considered critical to high-level play, like potions in an old-school RPG. Keep a handful on you at all times and restock when you use any in a Strike/Mission/whatever.

And how to get exotic bounties?
Exotic bounties are a little mysterious for the moment. I got mine the instant I hit Rank 2 in Vanguard rep.
And are bounties capped?

There are just a limited pool of bounties per day. There's no cap other than that, well, you could do them all, then you'd have to wait until the next reset.

Precisely. It's pretty wonderful. Also if you jump into a fireteam already doing a patrol, you get that same mission and can help.

A friend was doing a patrol and a public event happened. He told me to get online, so I did. Turns out he was in the middle of a patrol mission so I got that mission completed and got the gold for the event at the same time.

If there's one pro of the game, it's how fast you can join people.

My good GAFfers, can anyone tell me if I finished Destiny, please?

I killed this boss:
I think it was in Mars, there were 3 statues that came to life, after that, no Credits rolling. I know see them as an option the bottom right corner when in orbit

Also:
I haven't done some Venus missions for some odd reason so after I killed those 3 Statues I went to finish them. Was there a problem with doing this by such order?

Thanks in advance.

I usually alternate between the synthesis and decrypting greens.

I think the Archon Priest and the Psion Trio are my favorite Strike final bosses. I like that they are at a scale more comparable to the player and can actually move around the environment effectively instead of being stuck in the middle.

Yeah you beat the final boss. Also, you probably skipped the side missions. For some reason, they're labeled as 'Story' as well though they're not needed to get to the ending.

then I recommend no more decrypting greens. It costs way more and returns much, much less (if anything at all, based on how little we know about the cryptarch). But feel free if you like of course!

I'm glad they aren't going the Diablo Route with loot. Makes actually getting legend/exotic loot worthwhile.

lol, Rolling Legs that are for the wrong Class or that turn out to be worst than your existing non-legendary equipped gear actually reminds me exactly of the Diablo Route.

I like that I can use rockets to knock the Psion trio over the railings, killing them instantly, so the fight takes 3 minutes instead of 10.

What does "Closest Bonuses" mean on the advisor section on the bungie.net

Throughout your time in the game you are hitting small milestones which net you rewards i.e. 1000 fallen kills or 5000 kills with a scout rifle. When you achieve these "mini-bounties" you're rewarded with perks suck as "get more glimmer from this enemy type when using a modifier"

The "closest bonus" part is just showing you which of these achievements you're closest to finishing.

You can check the progress of most of these on the back of your Grimoire cards on bungie.net.

Here's a list of some of the rewards to expect

Hey guys, any numbers on DPS for weapons? I'm torn between handcannon and scout but I want to see compelling analysis and got no time to make my own. My hunch is that scout is a better deal overall, less risk on missed shot and better sustained dps

Haha, I actually hate those two the most.

My favorite strike has those Siege Dancers and that tank. Yesterday, the tank ended up getting stuck in that exit path/valley. God it was hilarious.

Another favorite of mine is the one where you fight that shield boss on venus.

Well this was a bit short.

As for the other Missions I think I did them all on Mars, will confirm it either way, thanks for answering.

I did most of the story missions solo. I have two strikes I haven't played yet. I don't do much patrolling because it's literally the most boring thing in the game.

Dust Palace is my favorite strike, by far. The boss(es) are satisfying and really not bullet sponges at all if you use elemental guns on the shields as intended.

I'll like the Archon Priest more when I can do more freaking damage to him. If any of the bosses have too much HP at the moment I'd vote for him. I feel like I can hit the MegaColossus in Cerberus Vae for like twice as much damage. *shrug*

It isn't how you are expected to gear up in this game.

Nexus is a really quick strike and I enjoy it too. Love the drop down to the boss room.

I got lvl 2 Vangard yesterday just in time when I reached 70 marks.

Legendary.... c'mon you will be mine.

Now I'm undecided if I continue the Vangard up to lvl3 or start to level up the Future faction.

Does buying that increase cryptarch rank?
