I almost never use a shotgun and I'm consistently one of the better players on my team. Sniper > Fusion Rifle > Shotgun for my play style.

Indeed it is, I'm slowly getting near rank 1 from doing missions on Earth. 2 is going to bore the shit out of me
In old russia, it says "Extra materials drop from material nodes in this destination." Rank 2, almost 3.
Venus is Rank 3, and says the same thing.
Nothing seems to be listen that I can find that would suggest grimoire are helping me, but cant rule it out.
Anyone know what could make is easier for some, besides random good luck?
Favorite Strike Boss: None of them
Worst Strike Boss: All of them (though a special mention for Phogoth and the Flayers). Every single one is an incredibly boring-to-fight bullet sponge. It's truly shocking how poorly designed they all are.
Favorite enemy faction: The Cabal. The Phalanx are the only enemy in the game that are interesting to fight beyond a simple headshot (everything else is just "shoot a lot" with maybe a slight modifier to "shoot a lot with a specific element.")

So if I chose a faction, I will stop earning Crucible marks and rep, instead they go to my faction? Or is it Vanguard stuff only?
Yep, stopped that a while ago ad now I have all legendary armor.

You'd still get crucible marks, only the faction's rep. And only if you're wearing the faction's class item.

As far as unique weapons go I hope we get to use modified versions of the alien guns. Imagine a special/heavy being the knight cannon. Or the Fallen Captain shotgun. Or that homing Fallen gun. Wizard orbs.

Did you find that even when playing heroic strikes? Just curious. When you don't have the 30-second respawn I find it becomes a lot deeper. With the 30 second respawn it can be a bit spongey sometimes.
I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but the reason strikes don't seem to be dropping much gear is the advisories on Bnet are the way to open them up. I have one sitting there right now where I need to beat 5 more strikes (50 total) and then cloaks, marks and bonds will start dropping too. Perhaps once you hit 75 or 100 it makes legendary or exotic gear available as end of round drops too?
Who in their right mind thought 50 strikes before getting a cosmetic bauble to drop was a good idea?

Regarding the grimoire card bonuses. Its the black bar that sometimes appears at the bottom of the HUD saying like Fallen Killer Rank 3 700/800.
It's tied to these bonuses
Bungie.net legend page, advisors tab.
Wish there was a way to view all the bonuses
check out the Grimoire cards, they're all there

Its old already to hear ANY of the story dialog at this point. And a few of the missions where you are killing yourself to farm, he gets uber annoying.
They may be getting disconnected (guess it depends on how often it's happening). I was booted RIGHT when I made it to the Mars strike boss the other day and apparently that has happened to a lot of other people on that strike for some reason. I was super thrilled!!!!!!!!!!! GG

Good catch. Legendaries probably don't have a chance to drop until you hit the 250 strike mark. Yikes.
