Last night I was farming the cave in Skywatch for some drops. Was at it for about 2 hours or so. It's so mundane and mind numbing. But then something happened. A message popped up in the lower left corner of the screen, something like "Ememies organizing..." or "Ememies gathering...". This was not a public event, it was different. Instead of the regular Hive coming out of the farming cave, Wizards started coming out. After like an hour of shooting the same enemies over and over, I was like WTF?

Then more enemies started flooding the entire field from every spawn point, yellows all over the place, Hive Knights, Wizards, Fallen Captains. Most of the enemies were resistant to our weapons and could only be killed with supers. It was out of control. There was probably 3 of us farming (level 20+), then more players came in to help There were guardians everywhere firing off supers, generating dozens of nodes of light. It probably lasted 5 or so minutes, people actually got killed and needed reviving. It was a huge surprise after grinding level 5 enemies for so long. It was like the game knew we were gaming the system and tried to make us stop.

Things like this is makes the mundane in Destiny more exciting.

This happened to me last night. Level 22+ guardians were huddled in a corner, crying for mama (myself included). The onslaught wiped us out in the end.

If you equip a Faction gear you will receive Faction rep instead Vanguard/Crucible... what happens if I equip one gears from different Factions? I receive rep for both factions?

I'm going to say no. There is only ONE bonus and that's at the first rank. After that you only get Grimoire points for getting the next rank.

You're level 22 and you already have a faction or the vanguard to Level 3? Impressive.

Also, Level 22 is a bit low for legs. Legendaries are ~26 or so. You should be going for better blues til you get to level 24.

So do factions have any other class items besides those two you see when you talk to the guy? I got the New Monarchy class item for my Warlock but i have since decrypted a much cooler legendary class item that glows and pops out. Of course I also just learned that every level past the hives you legendary rewards, so everything I do crucible or patrol or turn in bounties I need to remember to switch back to faction class item and it's annoying. May just forget my progress with New Monarchy and start over with Vanguard/Crucible. Wish I would of known this. Faction gear is pretty identical to vanguard/crucible gear anyways so it seems really pointless to have leveled a faction.

Yes. You can buy them. They may drop as well. I've only ever seen ONE legendary drop so I haven't seen it.

Compared an exotic scout to a legendary scout that I have and the answer for those is a no, the advantage is some of the extended special abilities.

yep, for sure on the rare ship plan. opened a chest near that central round tower you visit on the first mission and was expecting glimmer and helium but got the blueprint too.

it seems much more common to get greens as a bonus from a chest. i'll been doing patrol and snagging bounties and grabbing all materials and looting all the chests i can find. finally got enough rep & marks to buy two legendaries from FWC

It's only the Faction's bond that allows you to gain rep, not any gear. Since you can only equip one bond at a time, this won't be an issue.

Base stats may be similar but Exotics generally have more damage upgrade slots/possible modifiers.

Exotic armor DOES have higher defense, This I was able to confirm, looking if weapons work same or not.

Just rank up the Crucible or one of the factions. It's pretty simple, just takes a while.

I know, I know. I was just playing the game wrong and basically have 48 hours in, and nothing even close to popping with the vendors. I really don't want to basically start from scratch. I still think the drops are broken. I posted this in the review thread:

-I think the "item of my choice" part is what bugs me the most. All of the exploring and hidden chest stuff is what I really want from an open world type game. You should be able to stumble upon good gear that might not be exactly what you want just by poking around in the dark corners of the word. Going to a vendor should only be to obtain the perfect great that has all of the exact stats you are looking for, and even comes in the right color.

-Grinding a vendor should be for perfection, not leveling up. The system works that way until purple drops, then the vendors become the only game in town. I want a sense of wonder.

Edit: If the Legendary drops I've had so far turned into armor for my Hunter and not a Titan, I would now have a couple of pieces of Legendary gear. I would be able to see their upgrade paths, and how they work. I would also be able to peek into the Raid and Nightfall missions to get a sense of what I should be striving for, and what I really want when I go to purchase a piece of gear from a vendor.

Right now, the game wants me to grind -JUST TO GET GEAR- without motive, without even really experiencing and knowing why I want that gear. There is no carrot the way it is now.

You only gain rep for a faction when you put on their bond. You don't lose marks or rep you already have. And you continue to gain Vanguard/Crucible marks regardless. The only thing the faction affects is rep, and only while wearing the bond.

I don't get this crusible ranking bullshit. I keep doing the crusible challenges and every time I got to the crusible guy its says I only have 40 out of 1000. Wtf does that mean. I have rank 1 and 89 crusible ranking or some shit.

This is the most confusing shit I ever seen in a game. So frustrating that they don't explain shit all.
