Just got The Comedian legendary shotgun from purple engram.

I have a titan at lvl 20 and no.

Of course you cant hit the panic button if youre too slow but you become almost invincible if you do, if you have the perk that lets you take more damage whil using youre super you are invincible, not even a rocket can kill you.

Maybe you can actually be killed while in the air but the horrible netcode just does not allow for this to happen, never have I seen a titan get killed by a melee / shotgun or baldedance without also killing the attacker.
(almost never, the 3 times this happened the attacker completely lucked out because it certainly isnt the norm)

level 20 doesn't mean a lot other than you've killed the shit out of some dregs, has nothing to with being too slow if you take a throwing knife to the face 30 yards away, don't know this perk you're speaking of enlighten me, yes you can be killed in the air, many times play more.

Would it be doable to do level 22 strikes at level 21? Is the difference between levels after 20 bigger?

22 strikes are definitely doable at 21 as long as you also have good items like a lvl 19-20 gun for the attack you need to properly hurt them.

I don't get how you can get a Higher Engram, and then it turns out to be lower when identifying them. Seems pretty unfair.
When thinking how long it took me to even get them I feel kind sad, but oh well.
And there is still the possibility that if it is indeed a legendary the item can turn out to be for another class.

I, for one, thank you for taking it in stride instead of the sense of entitlement that usually follows statements like that.
Complaining about it wouldn't give me the legendary anyway. Also they were just my first two. I intend to gather many more. :)

Legendary's are at the exact rarity they need to be to remain special.

So, you either get legendary engrams drop with the frequency they do now with a chance to be rare, or decrease the drops significantly and make them guaranteed.

It would be the exact same end result, but it might be a little less frustrating.

This sounds a lot like vanilla D3. Lots of useless drops for your build... and even legendary drops would turn out to be lower stats than what you currently had equipped or need.

I hope they adjust this. D3 is a lot more fun now because of drop rate AND the crazy stats that buff you.

Having a legendary engram drop, to then be turned into a rare is kinda BS. Specially since those don't drop often to make up for it.

its by design, if they didnt do that people would be geared out in a week, its the old carrot on a stick mechanic that made WoW so popular, I mean were all still playing despite getting shafted several times over.
Well, it's not like purple engrams are dropping left, right and centre now is it? I'm level 23 and finally earned my first purple engram yesterday... it turned into a useless blue.
So if this is by design, I'm sorry but that's just bad design. Loving the game otherwise but green should be green, blue should be blue, purple should be purple. It's simple.

I agree, but legendary engram drops would need to be toned down if so.

you're not alone and i'm completely baffled by bungie's silence on this... it's one of the biggest complaints out there.

If you get a drop, specially a legendary or exotic... it better be a legendary stat or exotic. Doesn't matter if its for another class. whats the train of thought behind making it drop in class to rare?

so bungie has given no thoughts on this? i thought they were being pretty transparent with the community about this.. that sucks.

Here is what needs to happen

1.) Kill the low level enemy RNG for high level players. No more low level explore mode farming or low level mission farming

2.) Increase Mission / Strike reward. Absolutely no reason there is 0% chance to get a Legendary / Exotic from high level strikes. Also, the 3 marks and 12 Rep reward for a lv. 22 strike is insulting. You get 10 rep for a simple patrol that can take 2 minutes. Chance for Legendary should be 5-10% for a lv. 22+ Strike. Exotic remains at its current 1-2% chance. Increase enemy drop rates of engrems during the boss battle. Chance for boss to drop Engrem. Not a single boss has dropped an item in this game yet.

3.) No chance to get Blue Armor/Weps from a Legendary engrem. Mats still possible, because they have value. But spending 30 hours to get a Legendary engrem finally just to have it turn into blue armor is deflating. Casual players especially will just turn the game off most likely and say F it.

Got this legendary machine gun from a rare engram the other day. It's so badass and one of the upgrades is called Surplus which makes a lot of heavy weapon ammo drop.

And then I was helping my lower level friend (16) do some strikes and found two legendary engrams. Got two rares from them. Thought I read that legendary engrams always gave legendary.

Legendary give you like 20% chance of actually being a legendary, then it can also be for any class also.

Any guides/write-ups on what the "best" PvP class is?

Edit: I don't have the game but I'm thinking about picking it up. The PvP looks pretty neat.

Had an awesome night last night with a gaffer (who didn't have a mic but it really didn't matter because he was a really good fighter and listened to everything we had planned out. Dr Quincy)

I'm a level 25, he is a 25, and my IRL friend with us was a 23.

We did the weekly on level 22 and it was pretty easy. We cranked it up for shits and giggles and went at it on 26. Wow it was tough, and with our cheap strategy, it took forever.

But we did it after like an hour and a half. This was our Raid. It was awesome and I was very excited.

Any good places/missions/strikes for Fallen majors/ultras?

Hive is super easy but I can't find a decent place for the Fallen

Any good spot/mission/strike for the Vex as well?

And is there a bounty for the Cabal? I have yet to see one.

Am I only one who thinks it's amusing that Crucible is "competitive" multiplayer?

How something can be competitive when it has;

  • No balance of any sort between weapons, not even within weapon class
  • Super powers that grant basically god mode for duration of cast and/or use
  • From these supers few are just "Spam attack, auto aim does rest" -button smashers where all are button smasher
  • Constant lag, hit detection, player warping etc. issues thanks to P2P hosting
  • Not so good map design for most part [Bastion, Blind Watch...]

Don't get me wrong. Crucible is good fun as casual PvP brawler, but competitive that requires skill? Meh

Edit: My only basis for P2P claim is 155 Crucible matches and observing game performance [lag, hit detection...]. It's not constant and gives few good with no issues and few shit ones with obvious issues. If game uses dedicated servers then something is seriously fucked if 24/1 ADSL connection can't provide me with constantly same/good performance.

People need to stop the bullshit and saying shit like people expecting a purple to become a purple are entilted and it's designed that way to stop people gearing fast.

You know what would fix that problem? Make the Purples very rare but always at least purple rather than making purples rare that almost always turn blue. It's misleading and disappinting finally finding a purple engram either via drop or PVP reward only for it to turn into a blue that is worse than what you have. It's soul crushing when that happens 10+ times in a row.

To solve it and keep your precious balance and longevity of GOAT Destiny how about just making purple drops even rarer than they are now (matching it to the rate of purple actually being a purple and not a blue) and making them always a purp at least while keeping blues as they are now. That way things would be pretty much unchanged except you'd have a lot less unhappy and disappointed people finally getting a purple engram and expecting something cool and getting fuck all.

The game isn't doing too well for me today, been booted back to the main orbit screen a few times already. I have managed to finally move myself up to level 25 now though, next aim is getting a decent shotgun, will probably just wait to see what Xur is selling before I buy anything else though.

Exactly have blue and Purple engrams drop percentage lower but in turn have them actually decrypt into the level of item the engram is. Problem solved and then everyone is happy.

Wait so Destiny uses P2P hosting? Is that like what Gear of War did? Then why is PS+ required for pvp?

At least to me all of this lag, hit detection etc. issues spell out P2P, no way dedicated server would provide so fluctuating and bad performance. One lobby works just fine, another is bundle of issues etc.

Are you saying it doesn't take skill to do well?

Well I'm not good FPS player on consoles [Destiny being first in long time] and I keep being at top of score board so... yes? I'm saying that skill requirement for doing well in Destiny PvP is very low, imo.

Edit: If you can read radar and swap between primary and special according situation you seem to do rather well without that much skill involved in the end.

Well it could. If you are american and everyone on a Dedicated Server is as well then you will have low lag. But if a european connects to the Dedicated server he will lag. Just as he would using P2P.

I have a bounty that says "Kill 3 or more enemies with one super use 20 times", and I can't get any progress on it as a Sunsinger. Is it even possible? Or do I need to switch to Voidwalker to get it down. Not really sure what counts as killing with the super as sunbro.

Switch to Voidwalker
Set your nova bomb to the option where it splits into 3

I'm dirty European living in Finland :b

Some lobbies are good, but most have issues with getting hit around corners and such :(

Nope, but thanks for you input.

Honestly the more I play, the more I am fine with the way it is. If people want to waste 40 hours farming nexus or shooting a cave for something I can get for seals and tokens I will get anyway, more power to them.

I want a ranking system. Separate playlist, just like in Halo. Gives incentive to play, making you want to improve. Wanting to achieve higher levels.

It's a shame Bungie seems to not care about that anymore.

I've seen people drop out of PvP and not once have I seen "switching host" message. Don't know but I don't think it is P2P.

Venus has some Fallen Majors if you go left at the start of a Patrol. There are also Vex farther down that way.

Competitive doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be an MLG Esport. You compete against other people. It's a competition.
