I got my first exotic bounty 15 minutes ago when I handed it 5 bounties at once.

I've done that plenty of times and done all the ones available in a day for vanguard and crucible. Level 25.

Lame.

The ridiculous randomization needs to stop or get evened out. Fuck.

Which in itself is worrying.

So if it wasn't for the last minute Grimoire of Plot, would there even be a plot at all beyond:

"You were dead, now you aren't go fight these random forces of "darkness" who are also fighting each other because reasons, also theres a Warmind called Rasputin who is talking to the other planets, which is a shock because we though they were all lost in the collapse, but they aren't and no one else is really surprised by this as we clearly have interplanetary travel already anyway. Oh look this security system calls you by a name, but lets ignore that. Also Rasputin is randomly referenced again on another planet too because reasons, and look the Awoken are all dicks and hiding away, except all the other Awoke of whom you may be one. Look its the Vex, they are darker than the other darknesses and we must stop them because we should now lets go to the mythical black garden that isn't all that mythical as everyone talks about it and the Awoken know exactly where it is anyways."
Damn. That's depressingly accurate and complete. :-|

Ok, so I have a question about Crucible weapon stats. I was involved in a sniper heavy team death match on the moon, and there was clearly people with higher fire rate sniper rifles. In PvE I have been holding on to a sniper rifle with much larger impact with the trade off of a slower fire rate. In team death match, it was two shots (non head shot) for both our rifles to kill each other, but his fire rate was substantially faster. So are things like impact leveled off but obviously fire rate not? Seems stupid. If there is no weapon damage difference, just go for the highest fire rate possible right?

Outside of Iron Banner damage does nothing in the Crucible but rate of fire does so go for the faster weapons.

Oh lord are you serious? I tried to do a Nexus farm run and after 30 minutes I said fuck it I'm just going to do PvP.
But get lots of Glimmer and buy stuff... hmm... doesn't sound fun...

I gave up engram farming when I realised, that if I had actually spent all those hours working on my faction rating instead, I would already have Legendary gear by now.

Why put yourself at the mercy of the RNG gods when there's a way to buy all the stuff you want, whilst enjoying the game in the process instead of being frustrated that all those Legendary engrams you farmed all got decrypted into blues and greens.

So I just checked, I've played 33.5 hours so far and I'm stuck at level 23...

I have a legendary handcannon but that doesn't help me :/

The best thing in the entire game is:

"Do you know where the Black Garden is?"

"EVERYONE knows where it is"

*cue stuff*

"Now tell us where the Black Garden is!"

"They don't know where it is XD"

Just like....what?

what the hell? not one piece? I'm at cryptarch level 8 and wearing full legendary + one exotic weapon

Then you must be a very lucky Person. My Cryptarch is Level 10 and the only Legendaries he gave me, are my Hand Cannon and a Warlock Helmet, which is not really useful for a Hunter. Beside those two Items he turns my Legendary Engrams into Rares, Strange Coins or Upgrade Materials.

Are exotic engrams only obtainable through Xur?

For what I see it's the most common to get from PvP or having a random exotic challenge appear, I don't think i've heard of anyone getting one from a boss, been watching a lot of streams when not playing myself.

Maybe bosses do drop them, maybe, but so far bungie have made everything about PvE backwards.

I had someone in my fireteam from GAF get one from sepiks prime during the lvl 26 weekly strike.

Thanks, I figured as much. Guess I will have to hold on to some different gear for PvP. Seems like a gross over sight to have sniper damage equal yet sniper fire rates radically different. The PvP seems so poorly balanced.

damn, I feel for you guys. what are you doing to get engrams? I found pvp much better than even nexus farming, but maybe I'm really just lucky. Altough I got tons of blues and materials from legendary engrams, the exotic weapon was from a exotic bounty.

What's the hard cap with light? 26 or 30? I originally assumed 30 but now i'm not sure.

It's thirty, but you will need items from the raid to get that high I am pretty sure.

Edit: So someone give me tips how to get better at an FPS with a controller. Give me the consolero tips.

I expected the story to be an epic adventure
an epic romp between metaphysics, the universe and aliens with humans desperately trying to survive and avoid extinction.

I set my expectations too high and that was entirely my fault.

What's a exotic Bounty, and where do I get one of these?

This is probably foolish of me to think, but I'm hoping that the story in this was meant to be generic and more of a prologue to allow for them to dig deeper into the lore eventually. I'm probably wrong, but I know Bungie is better than this writing wise. Or at least they used to be.

Even without high expectations the story is displayed badly, I quite like the idea of darkness from the depths of space swarming in but in no way does the game explain it to any degree other then we are humanity's last hope, go hack a door with dinklebot.

The scenes we did get were lovely to look at but told us nothing, back in the beta when we had a few hours on the moon, the scene with the mysterious lady on the rocks watching over us as the sealed door opened could have lead to great things in the retail product, but it did not and left a sour taste in my month which won't go away any time soon.

There is no attachment to your ghost, there is no life in your guardian other then the face you give him or her at the beginning, you get reborn from some rusty old car and from just one speach from the speaker, your guardian agrees to throw their life into the fire with a calm voice and no questions asked.

It's shit.

Alright, so it's time to put our big kid pants on and get a raid group together. Another poster is getting 26+s together so that's good.

I'll be 25 by the time the raid drops and I'm willing to give it a go. I have endgame exotic weapons so I'll be able to damage enemies.

I'd like to get a group together on PS4 at 8pm EDT/5pm EDT. Please have at least a legendary weapon or at least be level 26.

Also, would anyone be interested in doing the raid on the PS3?

Another question: The NeoGAF EST guild is dead. I was in it during the beta but idk what happened.

Moreover the still locked areas seemed to have a lot of interesting story potential.
Whats hidden in the seraphim vault? Relic of the golden age? Crucible (mass effect) esque weapon/technology.

It's ridiculous really that the upgrade system comes down to a game of roulette. I've played around 25 hours and 60 crucible matches without a single legendary or exotic, yet I know people who were level 20 and played around half that and now have 2 legendary's and an exotic scout rifle.

I don't think it even matters how good/bad you are at the game as I've seen people finish bottom and be gifted with shit loads of stuff.

I was really looking forward to the raid tomorrow but TBH it looks as though I'll miss out on the initial runs due to bad luck. Nice system Bungie.

Just the way it is man, if only top scorers got loot then a lot of people would never get anything worthwhile.

Right...

Just got to light level 24 and I’m… pretty tired of the game already, even with friends. This is sad because I’m a MMO player and one would think the MMO-esque elements would keep me around… but they won’t. I’ve got 57 exalted reps in Warcraft but really don’t give a hoot to get rank 3 for Vanguard or rank 2 for Dead Orbit. I’m sick to death of these strikes for a couple of reasons: First, they’re only "at level" in the Darkness Zones while the mobs between those zones are the normal mob levels and second, because boss fights in strike level 22 and 24 are akin to throwing rocks at a wall or using a BB gun at someone in full riot gear. There are no new strategies or changes to the bosses, just more health and a boring, hand numbing, 30+ minute fight.

I can’t see the raid being meaningful at all. What incentive is there to even do it? The gear? In most MMO’s the gear is a means to an end, a way to prepare for the next raid. We have no idea when there will BE a next raid. The gear won’t really help you trivialize earlier content: It’s already trivial. Right now it seems like, mathematically, 26 is as high as anyone can reach until the raid comes out but I can’t see any point in busting ass to get to 28 or 30 with raid gear. The story was such a bore that there’s no reason to care about the baddies INSIDE the raid itself. Even most mediocre MMOs (or pseudo-MMOs) understand the need to frame up a big bad guy to make players want to destroy them in the raid. Blizzard have become masters at this: I knew people who really disliked Pandaria but stayed subbed just to take on Garrosh. There’s no such compelling antagonist in Destiny.

I hate to say it but I feel like I’ve played this game before, last year. It was called Defiance: FPS with MMO underpinnings, abysmal social design, horrid gear design, utterly imbalanced PVP, and a head-scratcher of a story. Like Defiance, I find the only reason I’m playing Destiny is because it scratches the "go shoot some aliens in the face" desire. Unfortunately, also like Defiance, that itch will eventually be scratched well enough that I move on. I’m already missing playing Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition which felt far more engaging and rewarding on every level than Destiny.

I'll probably eat some major crow for posting sentiments similar to yours in past threads, but I think relying on farming and luck is not the way to play Destiny unless you want to make yourself miserable.

Lucky enough to be WORLD FIRST in the raid? Then congrats. With the way loot works, I can't say Bungie cares too much about that. However, I do think Bungie wants us to get our marks and reputations up. The moment we get our reps up, we'll be able to buy legendaries at an somewhat-weekly basis. If I were you, I'd go for what's guaranteed over what's random. Destiny's loot is so RNG based, I don't think it's wise to even try to game it.

This is how Destiny reviews read to me:

14%2B-%2B1.png

I realize that the story is a jigsaw puzzle and the spaces are re-used, but I think these may be actual deliberate design decisions. I think we will see the game transform on the fly and much of these concerns will melt away, which is why I think the review scores are overly harsh. You don't score a stellar action game a 6 because of a throwaway story or a disjoint mission structure. This was a political response to a marketing juggernaut from reviewers who were understandibly annoyed to be put in a tough spot (reviewing after launch).

So who from the Bungie devteam is/are the person(s) responsible for making Lv20+ progressing entirely dependent on randomness? For fuck's sake man.

Very true. I'm not claiming to be an amazing player of any kind as I'm really not. I normally finish within the top 3 players on average. I just feel that maybe you should be guaranteed a legendary drop once every 10 matches or something. Just some way of rewarding you for putting in the effort. To put the entire system down to luck is just plain stupid.

I just hope my luck's in when I play tonight.

I don't think this is true at all. Damage is normalized in that a lvl 15 version of a weapon and a lvl 10 version of that same weapon are scaled to do the same damage.

It's not that there are no damage differences between weapons based on type (i.e. all SMGs don't just do the same damage per shot). At least as far as I understand.

Also, I have a sniper rifle that will consistently 1-shot dudes with a headshot, so I assure you they are out there.

I don't even think folks who place top regularly in PvP need a legendary drop.

I wouldn't mind getting extra marks for doing especially well in PvP.

I wish Strikes allowed 4 players. The bosses become such a grind. One extra player can make a huge difference.

The lvl doesn't matter in PVP, but the impact rating of weapons does matter in PVP. A player with a high impact shotgun will do much more damage than a player with a low impact shotgun. The normalization simply removes the level differences. But high end gear does have better mag capacities, more accuracy, and potentially higher damage dealing than crappier gear.

So gear does make a difference in pvp sadly. It's the worst aspect of the pvp, as the playing field is not level, players do get a gear advantage.
