I'm not hyped for TTK PvP that new hunter move looks more annoying than blink shotgun.
A roll that can only travel laterally which switches the camera to third person is a much more balanced maneuver than blink.

Also: Defending confluxes from Vex sacrifices is a public event, and is used in two phases of the Vault of Glass (the first one, and at Gatekeeper). And the idea of the time/space portals is used in the campaign (final mission). TBH I think that's about the right balance as the raid needs to incorporate new mechanics of its own.Edit: and they absolutely should have introduced the VoG mechanics throughout other activities. The one raid mechanic you ARE introduced to through the SP is for the boss of the TBD raid.
Except for that follow up melee it looks a lot harder to reliably aim at an enemy after that animation and with the angle you end up looking at. And since that class doesn't have QuickDraw, it won't be as offensively broken as Blink is.I'm not hyped for TTK PvP that new hunter move looks more annoying than blink shotgun.
Nah. Honestly, it looks a lot slower than I expected, and that makes me feel good about it. Plus, since it pulls the player out into 3rd person, it'll have some natural drawbacks to it.I'm not hyped for TTK PvP that new hunter move looks more annoying than blink shotgun.
1. Level is no longer tied to fear. You'll level up by gaining XP. This still is a little grindy, as the best way to do it is by completing rather repetitive bounties.Ok guys I have a few questions:
I haven't played Destiny since October last year. I was like level 16 or so. My main beef was that the game wanted me to grind grind grind to make progress and upgrading my equipment after level 20 sounded like I would need to run around collecting spin metal and green orbs and stuff. That did not sound fun at all so I dropped out. I should also note that I never liked the Crucible stuff that much.
I DID enjoy the gunplay. A lot! Big open areas invited sniping like Halo used to have years ago. You could clear out a ton of enemies from really far away and I really liked that! But, the number of missions seemed pretty low and I got turned off by grinding and a little bit how pretentious it kind of felt.
So if I wanted to get back into Destiny, would my problems from before be addressed? Would there still be the need to go collect all that shit on the planets? Would I still need to play Crucible because XP comes so much faster that way? Or would it be enough to simply play missions and enjoy a solid feeling of progress that way?
Also, what's the best way to buy the game now? I sold my disc version so I would need the entire package again.
Thanks in advance!
Nice! That all sounds pretty appealing. We just got a dog so my hopes for an Xbone and Halo 5 are out for this year. I'm hoping I can scratch that itch by revisiting Destiny1. Level is no longer tied to fear. You'll level up by gaining XP. This still is a little grindy, as the best way to do it is by completing rather repetitive bounties.
2. New weapons and armor have waaaaay fewer upgrade nodes. Moreover, each of these requires fewer materials. Also, these materials are no longer locked behind planetary farming - you can just buy them with marks.
3. Best way to buy would be the Legendary edition. US$60 for base Destiny + TDB + HoW + Taken King.
Even the base campaign is getting slightly re worked. And you'll get a character boost to take one character to the level required for Taken King activities. It's a good moment to get back in.
Most of these systems have undergone big changes, and in general you'll find the grind greatly reduced. As an example:Ok guys I have a few questions:

Most of these systems have undergone big changes, and in general you'll find the grind greatly reduced. As an example:
Planetary mats have new sources. They drop for doing daily Heroic story missions and patrol bounties, among other places. If you are short and don't have them, you can buy 20 of any type for 10 Vanguard marks. They also reduced the number needed per weapon/armor node from 16 to 5. Most folks are drowning mats now (something likely to be re-balanced with TTK.)
There's still some grinding in the sense that progression through factions and leveling gear is made running content through many times (play Crucible, strikes, etc.) but the repetitiveness is being addressed in several ways. The first is just volume of content: Destiny shipped with 6 strikes (on PSN). With TTK and the other two DLC's in the mix, it has 13 (12 on Xbox), plus three variations of prior strikes. They're also working to make the new stuff hold up better to replays. For instance the new strikes have alternating branches, encounters and dialogue that are randomly chosen as you go, so they are less repetitive. They also feature some mechanics (what Bungie calls "raid-lite") so there is more strategy to the bosses than just dealing damage.
This is the general approach applied across all of TTK, from what we know so far.
Have they talked about The Trials of Osiris at all? I really hope they update it with new gear.
Did I misread it, or if you buy the digital collector's version do you get access to the existing DLC now?
We've seen screenshots of new Trials gear here and there, but nothing direct yet.
I also believe we heard somewhere that when TTK launches Iron Banner and Trials will go on a month-ish hiatus while everyone gets settled.
You do get access to the existing dlc now if you preorder now

Okay, okay, wait.
When you say "codes" do you mean a slip of paper in the box with the codes on it or a direct link from within the game?
Because I really wanted to rent this from Gamefly but if the code is with the box then I'd essentially just be renting Destiny again. And fuck that. And fuck actually buying the Legendary Edition. Not gonna risk getting burnt by this game again.

Will there be a giant story twist coming in the Destiny storyline?
I don't know what that means.
A plot twist-
Yeah, the twist is that there's a story in there.
Oh really?
I'm tryin' something different
I already own a retail copy of Destiny, but none of the DLC. Is the Legendary Edition the best "solution" for me? Sorry if this has been brought up already in the topic.

The HoW streams were pretty fun, looking forward to these.
Nothing confirmed. There's an icon for a weapon that looks strangely like a sword but we haven't had a look at that yet.I haven't been following destiny since the beta but is there a melee main weapon in the upcoming dlc??

Gotdamn, that SUROS(?) Scout Rifle on Memento...
It all sounds really overwhelming for someone like me that only played the damn Alpha.
Can this be enjoyable if Im most of the time a lone wolf? Because it will be difficult for me to buy PS+ to play MP in the coming couple of months.
As in I will get my moneys worth by pure single player experience? I do plan on play MP and raids and all that but sometime later and not exclusively.
Nope.As in I will get my moneys worth by pure single player experience?

On second thought, I guess that leaves only the disappearing platforms and relic that were new, and that's probably OK. Maybe a relic PE would have been a good add.
I don't know how multiple ps4s work, but I assume you can have everything running at the same time? Then yep, you should be just fine with the $40 TTK download. You don't need the $80 digital collector's edition since you already own the DLC.Hey GAF, im a day one player. Bought vanilla destiny on disc, and downloaded the dlcs. Now, it looks like im planning to get a second ps4 for in another room. Since i dont feel much for dragging a disc around the house, im planning to go all digital. I guess my best option is the digital legendary TTK? I do wonder if i will have to download everything again, not that that is much of an issue.
You could just get a second disc after TTK comes out. They'll be super cheap.Hey GAF, im a day one player. Bought vanilla destiny on disc, and downloaded the dlcs. As far as i know you can set up another PS4 as secomdary console and share your primary bought DLC with it. So you'd just need the base game, no DLC's.Hey GAF, im a day one player. TK is a month away, Check the revoews when ot is out and jump in if you like what you see.I remember playing the beta then hearing pretty bad things about the retail release so I never got around to getting it.
Should I wait for the Taken King or jump in now?

OK, read the OP (thanks Kor!) and it all sounds quite nice, probably gonna hop back in.
I'm glad to hear Bungie is attempting to address the lack of variety in scenarios, but is this strictly limited to strikes? And are strikes those things you need to be in a squad or whatever in order to play? Will variety be added to the missions outside the strikes?
And how were the expansions?
I'm not a PvP or clan/squad player in the slightest, so I'm coming from a solo/play with random rangers co op point of view.
We're not 100% clear on if the improvements are strike specific or not. We don't know if variety will be added to missions.
The expansions were very unique.
Dark Below was not great at the time. It's "story" is dreadfully short. The PvP maps weren't great. The raid was very interesting, but then people found out how to solo the entire thing.
House of Wolves was much much better. The first time Destiny felt like it has a solid story and world building. PvP maps were good/better. The only downside was the lack of a raid. An arena was put in place of a raid, which is a decent substitution. The arena is fun to play, but the rewards for it are generally terrible in comparison to everything else in the game. The Arena has a lower level matchmaking component to it, so you cant actually see some of that content as a "solo" player.
