Amazing finish by Horry...but, just to get full mileage out of that fat bribe they got before the game, the refs allowed Hamilton to put an elbow in Tony Parker's throat on the last shot.

Saw that. :lol

What are the Pistons going to do now that they won't be getting under-the-basket preferential treatment?

Robert. Fucking. Horry. :D

Ah, and nothing like even ending the game on a non-called foul. Only had a FUCKING ELBOW TO THE CHIN involved haha. Pistons have to win 2 in San Antonio.....yeah, probably not going to happen.

The Refs would never call a foul in the last 5 seconds. When it hits that mark it might as well be street ball.

Rasheed Wallace is an idiot. Big Shot Bob is just crazy in the playoffs.

Everyone that knows basketball knows that the inbounder is usually the most dangerous guy on the floor for a quick shot. And there is no way anyone that was thinking would leave Robert Horry with the way he was playing tonight. Rasheed Wallace just lost the championship for his team. Nice guarantee there buddy. Freakin moron.

And that foul at the end was on Hamilton. Parker was clean. The Spurs foul on that last play was of course on Bowen. Billups tried to stop his cut on the sideline to get the ball and Bowen shoved him a bit in the back to keep him moving. Nothing big. But I noticed it.

:lol :lol there was a rasheed guarantee tonight?

I don't think so. But there were several signs up in the stands during the game, so I threw that comment in there just in case.

Doesn't make him any less the moron though. :)

No.

Rasheed is a liability. The guy can play great sometimes, and his defense is outstanding, tonight even, but the dude is either super hot and then refuses to shoot the ball after like 20 pts, or ice cold.

Damnit it pisses me off. How the fuck do you leave ROBERT HORRY WIDE OPEN.

exactly, you would have to straight up stab someone on the court to get called... remember the reggie parry -> shot thing?

it was with time expired though. they played it in slow motion and he clearly signaled timeout with 0:00 on the clock

Ah, I didn't see the replay.

Horry bailed SA's ass out this game. He doesn't have another 24 point quarter+OT left in him, though. :lol Duncan needs to get his head out of his ass at the line-- the game shouldn't have been that close. Parker was invisible-- what'd he have, like two baskets all game?

Still, serves Detroit right for their thug-ball. I cannot STAND how the refs let Detroit get away with playing the way they do. Every replay they show, there are like four fouls before the one that was actually whistled. They may be a good defensive team, but the only thing that has propelled them into the realm of "great defensive team" is the fact that they're butchers. If the refs called the game correctly, Detroit's starters would be fouled out by early in the 3rd quarter. Especially Rasheed Wallace, that goon. I really don't know how Duncan just doesn't snap and start throwing elbows. That's one thing that was good about the old NBA (80's and early 90's) before they started to clean the game up-- when guys started hacking too much, you were allowed to give it back-- which I don't advocate, but hey, if the refs are gonna swallow their whistles all game, you gotta do what you gotta do. The Hamilton elbow to Parker's Adam's apple at the end was just the icing on the cake.

Freaking refs. Detroit is a disgrace to the game.

What the hell ParkPace? Are you a Spurs hater or a fan?

Fan that isn't shy about calling the Spurs out when they deserve it. Maybe that doesn't make me the greatest fan ever, but I don't really care. I can't stand the mental toughness of the Spurs and it irks me to see it cost them important games.

I knew tonight if they win, they win game 6.

Spurs close it out tuesday or Pistons win it all. Game 7 at SA is tough tough shit, but the Pistons are the best clinching team in the NBA, SA can NOT give them a chance to clinch.

Robert Horry... the most under rated Champion of our time...

There's nothing wrong with criticizing them for a performance like in Game 4. You were just so hard on them that I thought you despised them. :p

Robert Horry....ugh.... How on earth did they leave him wide open. Going into that possession there was only one way they could lose the game and that was to let Horry hit a 3... BAH! Why were they trying to trap, it wasn't necessary. They just needed to protect the 3. BAH!!!

Oh well, Detroit lost.... Spurs will win game 6 since the Pistons are demoralized now.

Damn, Horry bailed us out tonight. Great game!!! Duncan melts down at the FT line and WE STILL WIN!!! Well, Spurs in 6.

Steve Kerr and Mario Ellie?

Better than Horry has been? When Ellie was playing, Horry was doing the same thing he is now for Ellie's team...

I'm damn sure I've never seen Steve Kerr take over a playoff game like Horry did tonight. Elie was a good player for sure, but his window was so small. Neither compare to Horry at all.

I guess you didnt see Kerr in the 2003 Playoffs.

Don't remind me. That night, much like this evening, reminded me why I hate the Spurs and their fans SO GODDAMN MUCH.

Right after the victory, the local ABC affiliate went "LIVE TO DOWNTOWN" where people(read: idiot spurs fans) were celebrating as if the Spurs had just won their 5th championship in a row. And THEN, the live shot goes to the FUCKING AIRPORT WHERE THEY'LL "INTERRUPT PROGRAMMING TO SHOW THE SPURS PLANE LAND".

I hate this fucking town.

Ahh, forgot about his Spur days but my point stands.

Horry had 18 points in the fourth and OT, including two threes that he really shouldn't have shot.

edit--if you are trying to compare Kerr to Horry, go ahead, but don't make little flippant statements with no true backing. Hitting an open three due to teams trying to stop the twin towers is not the same as what Horry did tonight. He took over the game offensively.

Kerr literally won the game for the Spurs in a crucial game 5. Spurs were down by 15 or so, and Pop decided to bring in Kerr who proceeds to MOTHERFUCKING TORCH THE SORRY ASS MAVERICKS OVER A SPAN OF 12 MINUTES.

Worst thing I've ever witnessed.

That was probably the most memorable finals game since Jordan's flu game. Just so many remarkable aspects....Horry's ridiculous performance (not just shooting open threes, either), the painful to watch performance by Duncan in the fourth, and of course the failed attempt by Stern to fix the game. Some of those calls were unexplainable.

Despite all this, the game would have been even better if there was time left when Rasheed called the TO. Rasheed pulling a Webber in that situation would have to be the greatest moment in Finals history. Damn.

EDIT- The difference between Horry and Kerr is that Kerr was hitting all the open shots, while Horry got the key offensive rebounds, threw down nasty dunks, AND his the open threes.

I think it took til 5 mins after the game was over til the Mavs found out Kerr was actually in the game, it was horrible :lol

Well not to say that Kerr hasn't been clutch before, but how many times has he done it? Horry has 5 rings, just like Kerr (I think he has 5 right?) But I can rightfully say that Horry has been a huge part of each of those rings which I can't say about Kerr... Not downing Kerr, a great role player who knows what needs to be done..

That's all well and good, I don't guess I remember that game. I don't mean to dog Kerr, and I won't. He has no shot at HOF though, and I'm starting to think Horry does have a shot. There's going to be a huge difference between how both are remembered, Horry's been doing this shit for over a decade.
