man, i really need to vent. i got the game early and just finished it (ps4). what a fucking joke.
there are no story spoilers, but i decided to put my impressions in spoiler tags, since they cover the whole game.
- the game is much shorter than human revolution (i did 90% of the side quests and was able to finish it within 12 hours or so)
- only 1 hub, seperated into 4 areas. there is one mission in a more open area that could be considered a hub, but its not even close to human revolutions second hub.
the prague hub is pretty big, but the lack of a real second hub has a big impact on variety.
- the ending...holy fuck. the game just ends, you dont see it coming. when the trophy showed up, i was speechless. this isnt a complete story, this is a fucking tv-show pilot with the rest of the season missing (probably coming via dlc).
- the game itself (mechanics, gameplay) is great. like i said, an improved human revolution.
-stealth/hacking is way to powerful, much more than in hr.
- breach mode is fun
- performance on ps4 is fine, except for the hub. here, you have to deal with some massive stutter and framedrops. also rare short freezes.
-side wuests are pretty great, i just expected a lot more of them.
cant wait for the spoiler thread to read what others think of it (maybe i overreact?).
and dont freak out: these are my impressions. its not a universal opinion.
Huh, its really weird this is not mentioned anywhere in reviews. Most say 20+ hours for the story and another 10-20 for the sidequests. This is kind of worrying and bullshit if true.

But it was already too good in HR. Enemies had blinders, and were almost deaf, and there were abundant tools (ammo for the stun gun for example) to finish everyone in stealthy ways.
You obviously didn't place all enemy bodies in neat stacks! Or spent 5 hours breaking difficult computers with quickload and random luck! Or insisted on 100% non-lethal takedowns, undetected throughout the entire game!
Fortunately, that shit adds up, so I fully expect to get a good 50 hours out of the game.

I got basically all the HR achievements on steam (except the ones that required a no kill run) under 21 hours. I never expected MD to be a 20-30h game, but 12 is kinda surprising.
I want the spoiler thread to open so I can understand why you did not like the ending though, that's my biggest fear.
Developers/Publishers need to step up to the plate. They're the ones at fault for not doing this more often anymore.
On a separate note, I'm not too surprised about the benchmarks for PC. Nixxes has a good history porting things and I expect this to run fine with my 1060. I may have to turn down a few settings but I'm still getting a better visual experience than on a console.
it didnt always work out. i had to resort to "kill everyone" here and there.
if you use the vents, you can skip whole combat/stealth sections. and i used a lot of vents.
a different playstyle (and difficulty) and it could easily take 16+ hours.
Last playthrough of Human revolution director's cut took me 30 hours, so I'm hoping for something like 20-25 for Mankind Divided. The reviews seem pretty decent though.
Anyone else that has the game for PS4 know how to get the Day One Edition DLC? Registering the game on the Square Enix site is supposed to give you a PSN code, but there's no code to be found after registering.

you shouldnt decide to (not) buy a game, based on one opinion. the game is not even out yet and there will be plenty of other (and better written) opinions next week.
If it turns out to be on the short side, well...at least I got a 25% discount from GMG (and tax free), so I can't be too upset. If I'd paid $60 + tax, I'd be pretty cheesed.
I'm personally excited that the campaign is shorter. I find many long campaigns have a lot of padding that slows it down. That and I guess I'm getting old.
The analogous card to a PS4 is a 7970, and if there can roughly be a 60-90fps difference between Medium and Ultra on a 980ti, then 17-23fps on the highest settings makes perfect sense for that card.
Nothing about this looks very atypical, outside of the difference between High and Ultra not looking crazy enough to warrant the difference in framerate.
I agree wholeheartedly. They're too afraid anymore, especially after the hellish launches in 2015 for PC. They don't have anyone to blame but themselves for piss poor performance at launch (obvious exceptions for people that think their Phenom II paired with a GTX 260 should be able to run AAA games of today without problems). I'm just really glad Valve changed the refund process in June of last year to be much more consumer friendly. Watching devs/pubs respond quickly to widespread issues because refunds are rolling through hard is the wakeup call this industry has needed.

even if it would have taken me 30+ hours until the ending, i still would have been diappointed. the problem is not the lenght (there is replay value and breach, which is pretty fun). the problem is that it feels like there was some pretty significant content taken out/left unanswered, so that they can sell you the "jensen stories" as dlc (which of course, has its own section in the main menu).
Even if the game is 12hrs total for me playing everything I want, that would still justify the £23 I spent. I am still hoping that I get more hours out of it that just that though. Generally I will take longer than most as I explore and get lost in games like this. Considering no outlets have mentioned that kind of length yet, I doubt I will finish the game so quickly
Buying a game that is cut short and likely to finish in the DLC? I see everything wrong with that. I'll buy it with the DLC when I can get it all together for $30. Probably rent it on console first to see if its worth it.

That is still very drastic difference, especially when you went "slower" route by taking stealth and still did basically all relevant content. Did reviewers put game on and AFK total of 15h? Just interesting and drastic difference.
Can't wait to play MD myself tho and see what kind hours my style gives.

This. Some parts I used vents and voila I was at the end lol I was half way through the game and I had only used the cloak, melee and tranquilizer rifle. So I forced myself to start playing aggressive, I wish they would force the action onto us and not allow us to stealth everything.
