that's also true. if the PC had an option to use interlaced or checkerboarded reflections, I bet the performance on my card would be higher still.

the console version runs RT on medium (the lowest preset), which means only reflections and transparent reflections are on.
the GI and Shadows are extremely demanding in this, so of course the performance will buckle if they are on, which they are on high.

i played it literally this week on my overclocked 1070 at 1080p30 with these exact setting, actually some of the non-RT settings were set higher than here.
if I only turn on transparent reflections as in windows etc., it's actually getting close to 60fps

im gonna need some receipts on this because i just ran this on my rtx 2080 at these settings and was getting framedips as low as 43 fps at 1440p.

You are probably running the game at 720p.

this video shows 1070 running at 10 fps in non combat scenarios on high preset at 1080p. I highly doubt you are getting another 20 fps just by turning some settings down. I just went benchmark hunting and only found one video where someone even came close to 30 fps on medium settings using that card and they were running at 720p. the ps5 is running this game at a locked 30 fps at 1440p, almost 4x the resolution of 720p.

If the game was running better on XSX they would have made a whole article just to compare both versions titled "Control - runs better on XSX"... 2 weeks ago. And today they would have already made 3 articles about that game, including one comparing it to PC settings.

The fact that they waited the last day to show the game only on PS5 and barely talked about the Series X version should tell you everything you need to know.

Well I bought it in January last year. Cost me more than the budget I gave myself, but in the end I can't complain about it. It's made of all aluminium, very sturdy, slick af, extremely slim yet it packs quite a punch. I have no doubt the newer 3000 series laptop trounce it but in the end it's mostly a FFXIV laptop so I don't really care

I'm not familiar with the laptop variants, but notebookcheck had 2080 max q with ~7900 Time Spy graphics, while 2080 super max q was listed at ~8300. Most 2060S AiBs get around 9000. Could you run Time Spy and see where you GPU lands for graphics score if you get a chance?

I love GeForce Now. Best streaming platform by far. Their GPU configs were strange last time I check it out, especially the RTX-capable GPU the RTX T10-8 which lands at about half the perf(non-RT game) of the 2060 Super or the other GeForce now GPU the Tesla P40 in For Honor benchmark.

No offense but you are mistaken.

1080Ti which is 30% faster than a 1080 runs the game at 9 fps at 1440p with ray tracing on high. A 1080 even at medium RT settings would give you 5-10 fps at best. 1070 probably 5 fps at 1080p. if not lower.

Tested it out here with a 1080ti ultimate edition on steam with dx12 option.

With RT medium

30-40 1080p, 21-33 1440p, 9-11 4k. ( lowest one is heavy combat, highest one is walking around ).

Without RT medium

~125 fps 1080p, ~85 fps 1440p, ~45 4k. ( 10 up and down when massive combat with explosions in your face or nothing around you )

Pretty solid playable at 1080p with rt i must say.

Your mobile 2080 is performing really well as it should. The PS5 is only as good as a rtx 2060 when it comes to ray tracing which i believe is far worse than your mobile 2080.

And have fun with the game. The destruction really tanks the framerate but thats ok because there is no a single game out there thats doing destruction at this level. I expect you will get around 30-40 fps in combat at ps5 settings in 1440p. I had to use DLSS at 960p native res to get a stable 60 fps with all RT settings enabled and most settings to high. So when you are done testing PS5 settings and resolution, be sure to crank up the settings, and turn on DLSS.

Nice! I'm getting 9200 with 2060S oc'd, so you'll be right in the neighborhood of the performance I'm getting. You should still beat PS5 on Quality(RT-medium) Mode settings. I was getting 40-45fps in heavy combat with RT Debris enabled as well.

Needs to be pointed out that this game supports DLSS 2.0 and it's well-documented by many sites including DF that it's a high quality implementation. It's kind of a joke not to use PC's sauce while using lower-than-low or custom settings on PS5.

I'm not surprised by the settings seeing how badly it runs even on some pretty beefy PC hardware. Probably not the world's most optimised engine, but what can ya do. Good to finally play it at 60fps, it'll be sweet.

Still not far of course, but I cleared my first zone and it never dropped below 60. In fact, it rarely drops below 70. I still do not have the telekinesis power however, so I can't really conclude how it really performs until I hit a certain point where the fights I'm going through represent what we all should expect in this game.

Gotta have to admit though, the PS5 performance settings are still darn beautiful. I would have no problem completing the whole game that way. The fast framerate coupled with my Freesync 2 G-sync compatible display (Dell S3220DGF) make it a really fluid experience. I mean of course when it'll all be done I will enable DLSS 2.0 and crank those settings / enable RT but so far, PS5 users have no reason to be shy.

I know this really isn't relevant, as the 3060 Ti is going to beat PS5/XsX equivalents every time, but it is somewhat in the same neighborhood on paper (kinda, right?) and curiosity got the best of me. I booted it up again on the backup rig (aka roommates computer) with a 3060 Ti, and with the PS5 settings (non RT) it never went below 88 FPS even in a combat encounter in a pretty demanding area, debris flying everywhere.

Assuming a 3060 Ti is about 20 percent more powerful than the PS5/XsX, I still feel like this game could be doing more on these consoles. The 3060 Ti was running stock, too, not OC'd

Again, I am just a dork in a basement, fuck do I know.

I have always felt the game looks great. I think it looks really good in the DF footage shown in the OP. I still think it's worth checking these things out though, seeing how the consoles stack up to PC equivalents

only Refelctions and Transparent reflections on give me 30fps, not perfectly stable but still pretty good 30fps at 1080p. I might get some screengrabs (does the Windows overlays show in screenshots?... Imma try)

I really wasn't comparing the two though. I was just saying Insomniac are fucking wizards. They really are.

I don't use the 60 FPS RT mode in Miles or SMR, but I appreciate that it's there. Yeah, it has 720p reflections with lower draw distance than fidelity mode (fidelity uses 1080p reflections), and averages 1200p in that mode, but still cool.

Listen I am really not trying to shit on this game. It's gonna be great to play it on PS5. It's my personal opinion that XsX and PS5 should be running at slightly higher settings but that's just me. That's all.

I 100 percented this game on PC, gonna plat it on PS5 this week.

here, I dunno how accurate the windows overlay FPS counter is, because it sometimes feels smoother than the readout sometimes less smooth than it... but here ya go 1080p render resolution with 1440p output (that is relevant as the game uses temporal upscaling it seems to the output res) and I tried to look direcly into reflections so the whole screen is filled with a raytraced image:

then i realized, I have a rtx card and can do DLSS even with RT off, and boom, 125-135 fps in combat. 150 in empty areas. thats double the PS5 performance in performance mode.

Man DLSS is the real deal.

DLSS is absolutely amazing, and the main reason I actually want an RTX card tbh... and also the reason I would currently completely ignore AMD cards still.

during combat it goes below 30 in stressful situations, like I said. these shots above are the best case scenario... and yes I am sure lol, I got a ROG Strix GTX1070 oc which clocks as high as 2.1ghz I think (it often performs like a stock 1070ti from my experience and if benchmarks of the stock ti are correct)
I looked directly into a reflection tho, so a huge portion of the screen is filled with RT reflections, so yeah... that's how that looks

I'm running the GamePass (win store) version... but I doubt that this has a performance difference

EDIT: I wanna also remind you, this is full resolution RT, on console the RT reflections are checkerboarded ontop of this. also all the settings here were on Medium, which is also higher than on console
