Diablo 2: Resurrected |OT| Angels and Demons? Sanctuary much.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Had my first day of affiliate on Twitch today and earned 7 subs today! By fucking playing D2; that's amazing :D

Today i found a good 4 socketed polearm and made me an insight runeword with it. Then i switched back to the act 2 merc and equipped him with it. Afterwards i found the Skullder's Ire armor which i can't wear so i also gave it to the merc. With all of this i'm finally able to fight through travincal on hell. Really happy now that i'm able to progress.

Oh yeah. Just got the Arm of King Leoric, to go with my other collector's item, Spire of Lazarus. It looks pretty badass for a tomb, and it's filled with delicious stats that will probably never be used. At this point the game might as well list everything as (Not For Barbarian).

And now i made my way into act 4. Finally! The last stretch of act 3 was no joke.

Also found my first piece of Tal Rasha. The Horadric Crest. I took it for the immunities.

Finally caved and bought for Switch. Overall I am really enjoying my time with it. I didn't enjoy Diablo 3 much. Think I like the original Diablo more ,but it's close. Have not played D ll in about 17 years.

Just got to Act ll with my Sorceress on Normal. I can't imagine how long it would take to do a hell run with all characters.

Some things I don't like are the "souls" like save system . Also initially getting the game going was a mega hassle, and I hate how I cannot play unless there's internet. A physical copy would be so much better for me.

Overall having a blast.

Any tips for Hephasto The Armorer on hell difficulty? I deal nearly no damage to him as a lightning sorceress and my merc dies in one or two hits.

Poison helps but i can just deal slight poison damage with a bow and that takes forever.

A lot of us had the same issue with dying at first, if that's what you're referring to. But unlike Souls, you don't have to get your body back on the first attempt. You can die 5 times in a row and still get your equipment and gold back as long as you don't exit the game and return (only do this if there's only 1 corpse; there's been reports of people losing their items this way). Otherwise if you only have one corpse, you can exit the game and come back, and it will automatically be placed next to your character in town.

You can also trick the game into thinking you have less gold than actually do by putting any excess in the shared stash (instead of personal) to avoid losing too much gold on death. According to the official guide, you don't lose any gold when dying on singleplayer, so it shouldn't be an issue.

On higher difficulties you have to manually grab your corpse to retain 75% of the total experience you would otherwise lose.

As for needing the internet: AFAIK, you only need to be online at the beginning, then can play offline singleplayer from there. You don't need to be always online like Diablo 3.

In singleplayer both the shared and the personal stash work for this. Not sure about multiplayer.

Just found out that you can't use shift+consume to make your merc use potions unless they're in the belt. My belt was full of greater potions and I needed to heal the merc quick-like, so I sat there hitting shift+right click on some rejevuntion potions from the inventory that I just picked up, only to consume them all myself. Lmao. Got a quick Town Portal off to get out of there before he died. 😅

Ah, good point. I wasn't thinking to put gold in your personal stash to prevent losing gold that you have on your character in singleplayer. So yes, do that Walter. You can still purchase items with gold taken from your personal stash. But there is a cap on the amount you can have in there (3 million?), so just put the extra in shared slots and transfer as necessary. That's how I manage it.

In multiplayer you lose gold from your personal stash if the penalty exceeds the amount you are carrying. The work around I mentioned above is for multiplayer: put gold in the shared stash, and the game won't take it when you die (like it does from the personal stash).

If you clear out everything else you can try soamming telekinesis keeping him stunned as much as you can and give your merc potions like its candy lol

I don't get what you mean with stunned through telekinesis. Can you elaborate?
The telekinesis skill that lets you pick up small things and open chests will also let you telekinetically bitch slap them. It wont stun them everytime but if you spam it you can really make a difference in how often the can execute an attack, i think they also have significantly less chance to block while stunned as well but cant confirm that

Will he be stunned for a while? Like seconds? Or is this more of a way to interrupt his attacks to pave the way for the merc?

No it pretty much just stops his attack or will knock him back for a half second stun. But the cast time/recovery rate and mana costs are all negligible so you can spam as fast as you can to your hearts content lol i do that for anything immune to fire and ice.

Finger mages will slow down your merc and run whenever he gets close, i end up using it to push them into a corner so they cant go anywhere

So with the game having the old style of loot, you just join online games and play the ping game, play solo, or found a group of people to play with that talk it over?

Is everyone done playing already? I finally got a 4 socketed ancient armor chest piece. Time to rock the house down on some demons! (Whenever I get the necessary runes to do so.)

Also pretty sure that the amount of gold you have on your character + personal stash affects the price of repairing equipment. The default asking price for my character on Nightmare difficulty is 193,000g (WTF?), but when I remove a bunch of gold from the character & stash, it goes way down to less than 10,000g. It's been happening for a long time; just never bothered to figure out why.

Every minute i can spare in my life will be used to play this game.

Still can't beat Hephasto on hell difficulty. I try to find some better equipment for me and my merc. Got him a better polearm and made a new insight out of it which has significantly more damage. For me i found a lot of small charms with increased resistance. I also rerolled the ones that weren't good. I have +40% to all resistances except cold which is at 10. Could use a better weapon for more damage.

I'll be stuck to this for a long time since I only play hardcore (solo offline) and lost my 4th zealot last weekend at lvl45. That one found the Peasant Crown and Bonesnap Maul but the items died with him.

My new paladin is lvl27 and already found a good 2 socket warhat, 2 and 3 socket shields and a 4 socket pole arm for the merc. Just need some SHAEL, ORT and IO runes for Lore, Rhyme and Insight.

I can't imagine how you would play through with a hardcore char up to hell difficulty. Exhilarating and exhausting isn't it? So you just go step by step with utmost care?

Can you exchange gear with non hardcore chars through the stash?

Yes, utmost care and topped up resistances are the way to go for hardcore.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to keep that care and focus up all the time and thus lost 4 characters already. Every single time it was an unnecessary death. Either due to carelessness, impatience or just stupidity.
Each death has been a real shock and was devastating. Days of playing for nothing.

But I've already beaten Hell in 2019 with a non-hardcore zealot that's why I now want to topple that.

Nope, the shared stashes for hardcore characters are separate. It is hardcore indeed.

What level have you been on with each character and on what difficulty did it happen? Normal shouldn't be a problem but already in nightmare a death comes swift. It is sure exhilarating when you succeed but just to read what you've experienced is crazy.

I focus solely on zealots. Paladin is like this game's Ryu in my opinion, a jack of all trades.
First time I died at level 29 in one of the hell dungeons of Normal Act 5, like "Abaddon". A bunch of Hell Lords caught me off-guard.
Second time was at level 23 in Normal Act 2 where I just mindlessly went in a room full of Dung Soldiers and died.
Third time was the farthest I got: at level 58 in the Nightmare Durance of Hate I zealed at a group of Stygian Dolls and their explosions killed me (definitely won't make that mistake another time).
Finally last weekend I didn't care enough about my resistances and died against a single (!) lightning enchanted Spear-Cat in Nightmare Act 2 at level 45. Just didn't expect that to happen.

I have a feeling this time I will get further than before. Playing much more care- and thoughtful now (but without farming).

Teleportation is a life saver for me but i also don't need to care that much since i don't play hardcore but how do you play? Do you bait them one by one? To what skills do you fall back in case of an emergency?

Wouldn't have expected so many deaths on normal but this just shows that you can die fairly quickle, pretty much everywhere in the game no matter the difficulty.

I would get nightmares from the small lightning ghosts in act 5. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Don't have teleportation but with the Paladin's Charge skill you can also get away quickly.
You don't have to play that carefully. Most of the time you can just go right in, get surrounded by enemies and just smash them all to pieces with Zeal&Fanaticism since the Paladin with Holy Shield has great defense.
I only have to bait some champion monsters, Venom Lords and Baal's minions one by one.
If there's too much fire or lightning I just switch the aura to Salvation and instantly have max resistances. That means those ghosts aren't that scary to the Paladin.

Damn, you're a warrior. I couldn't imagine playing with only one life. Once certain mobs stick to you, it's pretty much over if you're not over-equipped. And 3 difficulties? Insanity.

Good on you for having that kind of patience.

So every death of yours was just you being careless by not adapting fast enough?

There is just no room for a single failure on hardcore.

I think it's more a slightly autistic obsession than patience. ;)

Also there's still the option to save & exit in time when you're trapped (wish that didn't take 4 button presses on console though).

Yep, exactly. It's bound to happen that you start thinking about other things when you've progressed for hours without problems so you might lose focus for just a second in a crucial moment and it's all over.

I'll upload the next time I fail (or succeed). Was too salty the last four times to press the share-button on my controller.

Finally made it to Hell difficulty. The 3 guardians were a handful to be sure; had to be well stocked on full rejuvenation potions. Everything else afterward felt pretty easy, including Baal. Lured all the major mob groups until they broke up and were easier to tackle.

One major difference, which was unintentional, was changing a primary weapon to the one below. I upgraded the primary one to its elite version (finally), only to not have enough stats to use it yet(!!!). So I threw the other one on from the stash, and holy damn, it made Baal's entire domain easy. I think it's the latter 3 stats that did it, especially Blinding Target. The other weapon was stronger with 50-120 magic damage on top of life steal but it took a lot longer to bring down mobs. Baal was the only boss I defeated without having to portal back to town at least once.

Now it's time to get my ass kicked again in Hell.

I'm surprised there aren't as many elites in Hell as there were in Nightmare (so far). They seemed to be all over the place in NM. But damn, a lot of these guys have cold immunity and stone skin, which is a major pain for the Barbarian. Most of the time I just avoid them if possible, lol. It sometimes takes over a half hour just to take them down! Screw all that noise. Gonna need better equipment for sure; damn runes.

The merc is your only way to deal with the immunities you can't handle. But just when he is decent equipped. And even then he will struggle with some of the unique mobs. Best to avoid the enemies as long as you have no merc with you.

Yeah, he's getting his ass kicked just as quickly as when first starting Nightmare, lol. I need to get some runes to upgrade equipment. At least the leveling is pretty fast even in the early stages.

It is pretty much a constant back and forth between getting new weapons or armor to progress a bit further just to find the next "obstacle". But it's fun when grow stronger and stronger.

I suspected as much. Even if I upgraded a few of these items, the stats wouldn't be where they are needed to be. So there's gonna have to be leveling, finding runes, upgrading items, and getting my ass kicked all at the same time. Welcome to hell, indeed.

Although everything helps, the things that helped me the most where the increase of immunities, since i went into hell with everything in the negatives. Furthermore you should find out what the best merc for your class would be and than equip him as good as you can. I also started to keep more small charms than the bigger ones since they dropped with higher levels or rerolled with higher levels and have more + to immunities.

Just some thoughts.

Oh damn, mine aren't that bad which is probably why I'm not dying right away. Fire and cold are both at 50%, the other two are in the 30% range. But yeah, gonna need more of those as well. Can't really upgrade the merc or myself yet; need better runes. They've been dropping quite a bit even in Act I. But damn, the high level runes (like Fal) still require 3x to get to the next tier. It took 2 difficulties just to get two total, and they want 6 more! Lmao.

I played to the end of act four to get that high on immunities. :messenger_tears_of_joy: You are well into upgrading your gear through the cube. Maybe i should do this too since i do not find decent gear.

Oh yeah, everything was fully maxed out in Nightmare. Still had problems with certain levels of poison and that damn cold. Fortunately, double swing is a sub-skill of Frenzy and hits a lot quicker. But the crazy damage bonus from Frenzy is lost when switching and weapons break much faster. It's pretty much like Zeal on the Paladin.

I think you have to upgrade some items through the cube, unless you want to do boss runs. That's not fun though, and it's not like it's impossible to advance without it. It probably just takes longer.

I still have a lot of stuff i found in nightmare so i know i could be much stronger. Defense is quite good now but i feel my damage output should be way higher.

So you take a normal rare (yellow) weapon for example and upgrade it to exceptional with ORT+AMN+P. Saphir?
And then you could go to elite with FAL+UM+P. Saphire? Kinda feels like getting a damaged weapon to a normal state.

Does this just work for the rare (yellow) weapons or is it also possible for magic (blue) or unique (gold)?
