Did Nintendo make a change to the WaveBird awhile ago?

I seem to remember a change was implemented around a year after its release. Did they bump the frequency from 900mhz to 2.4ghz? Would the frequency even make a difference?

Just curious, as I'm about to grab another one, and the old ones are 5 dollars cheaper for some reason.

Never heard about the change but I think the 900 mhz frequency messes with some wireless phones. I have to buy two new wave birds because for some reason, they both went bad. Odd, but oh well.

I'm wondering about this as well. I remember reading at one point that newer 2.4GHz WaveBirds were coming out, but then never actually ended up hearing anything else about it. Maybe they just implemented it without making a big deal.

I think the silver ones are the 2.4 while the old grey ones are 900
that... wouldn't really make any sense. why would they be producing two different electronics for the same controller? especialy without advertising it anywhere on the package.

Battery life was the main change, and I believe range as well.

Don't have any numbers for you though, but I reckon IGN has some of the press releases on file

How do you know which you have? Mine came in a bundle pack with Metroid Prime (From Kmart. I bought it clearanced in January.)
