Switch 2 haters in shambles

I see some persecuption complex here.

But I thought we had another thread saying this game was/looked awful running on Switch 2... Surely they weren't wrong??? And here I was thinking Switch 2 couldn't run current gen games well enough.
It does look awful. If you have a better platform to play it on, definitely play it there. The visual downgrades are very evident. Same goes for Cronos.

That said, if portable play matters, or if Switch 2 is your only option, then these ports are totally fine (for what they are).

Wow. Should I buy this? Fuck.
Wait for a 50% discount in November.

I beg to say probably it's one of the best game graphically in a portable console (until Steam 2 come I guess).

It's complicated. It's both extremely impressive and repulsive. I could probably stomach it if I tried, but I wouldn't be happy. Same thing with Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal on the OG Switch. Like, yeah they're impressive... but yuck.

Impressive port.

The game could be ass, but I'm sorry for the devs that had the worst word of mouth possible just before release by some random dude online that has been taken seriously by EVERY site out there, even the "serious" one, that didn't even tried the final version of the game. And it turned out to be awesome lol

Eden Ring could be the same and works fine in the final build, but the damage is already done.

Anyway I can't care less about Star Wars, but maybe for 9,99€ I'll take in future.

I don't know. For a portable seems extremely good? I never considered the switch 2 an home console.

Very impressive. Makes me wonder what the Switch 2 could have pulled off if they went with blackwell on 4N instead....That Nvidia black magic is real.

It can't. Don't worry. I mean not without important cutbacks. But surely this is an impressive port.
But I mean, it CAN! It needs cutbacks obviously as it is a handheld as opposed to a console/PC but it still can play these games and competently enough that you are getting the full experience. Not bad for a handheld.

I have to say some cutbacks are very important if you are obsessed to the graphics tech. To the eyes catch seems quite close but big water pool or rivers use cube maps and not raytracing at all, which is really an old tech; I noticed it just now (peope there thought was raytracing). Ubisoft has smartly used a lot of artistical tricks.

The guy who made that 'disaster' video also backtracked on it saying he was wrong.

Not sure what DF are shilling for here, the Microsoft Switch 2?
Well, it is an Xbox after all! 😉

If I buy Switch 2 at some point next year, might grab a keycard for this. It should be like $20-30 for now and I would just get it to see how the thing runs and mess around for a few hours.

Edit 3: How is Steam Deck / AMD Z1E device performance for the game I wonder.

Cutbacks are minor and this is even using ray tracing wirh beign even 1440 docked. It clearly can. The proof is right there. Its one of the most demanding games. Not to mention that multiple developers confirms the same thing. Any game on series s would run. Cpu bound games require some optimazations. There isnt a single game now at this point. But lets see, maybe if a game strugle 30fps on ps5 pro, maybe it require a lot more optimzations like they did with witcher 3 on switch. But i dont think that would be with the current gen situation. Prob nextgen games is more of a question

Are you ONLY looking at graphics? Cause if you have to have cutbacks in certain graphical features yet get to play the full game, then yes, you are still getting the full experience. I mean, would you say you aren't getting the full experience playing on performance mode on PS5 as it cuts down graphical features?

No. Yes.

Because Switch 2 haters don't exist on GAF, right? Matter of fact, Sony nor MS haters exist either...

Reminds me of a saying I've heard, "A hit dog will holler"...🤨🤔
The most of the "haters" say switch 2 specs are underwhelming, it's not exactly hate it.

So now graphics care, all these years pretending.....

Nintendo make you pay for upgrades games without.ray tracing lol.
Said that, I'm the first who said it's really an excellent port but I'm not sure what exactly Oliver of DF has seen of so special in his raytracing. It's really limited and with important cutbacks. He mentioned at least reflections has been replaced in the river in Toshara with cube maps?

So are we back to Switch 2 Docked > Switch 2 > Steam Deck in performance yet? Or can the Deck get to this level with some patches maybe? This game can't even run in a playable state on the Deck iirc.

Still love the power/performance profile of the Switch 2, particularly docked @ under 20W.
Steam Deck and Switch 2 portable are extremely similar in performance in raster, with a slight edge overall to the Deck. However, thanks to Ampere being significantly better at RT vs RDNA2 the Switch 2 will pull ahead with any game using RT this heavily.

I thought thread was a thread that said this ran like shit?
GVG played an early build and reported on that. GVG also released an apology video apologizing for assuming the final build would be as bad as the early build, even saying it's much better than what they played before.

While I'm not the biggest fan of the game (dropped it with about 10 hours in over a 8 month period), I am impressed with the port. Seems like sensible cuts were made where needed, and they were able to retain the visual identity of the game on relatively underpowered hardware.

Should have added "in last 20 years".

Only Jedi FO and Survivor were good games. I think Outlaws being open world with multiple planets and lots of npcs, side quests etc. truly uses the lore correctly.
I'd pay almost any price for a modern port of TF that had controller support and mildly updated visuals. I know TFTC exists but something official and plug-and-play would be so welcome.
The narrative in that game is absolutely peerless. Every other SW game since pales next to it.

Just making a note here, even though it has its own thread.

What's with the flags there next to his name? Is that to signify this cuck is an ally? Cause I instantly dismiss all these fucktards say when they promote that crap.

Anyway, great technical achievement for Switch 2 but I still won't buy it.

What this means, is that this game will be used as "the bar" when other companies introduce their port. I won't touch it, but it being the bar is what matters here.

Everyone will know if the third-party gave a shit or not.

the Steam Deck is hard to pinpoint down when it comes to raster performance.
it is a PC, and it acts like one. the theoretical peak GPU performance is 1.6 TFLOPS when it runs at its full 1.6ghz.
BUT, it rarely does, at least if CPU power is needed. so if you run a modern AAA game you'll usually hang around 1.2 TFLOPS (1.2ghz) on the GPU, while the CPU gets more juice.
manually locking the GPU to 1.6ghz is possible, but you should not ever do this basically, unless you know exactly how much power the CPU needs and if you tested the performance.

so the Switch 2 in handheld mode and the Deck are essentially head to head, and who's ahead depends on how much CPU power a game requires on the Deck.

it is very much at a disadvantage as soon as raytracing gets into the mix yeah.

the Deck almost always however has a CPU advantage. the Zen2 CPU it has is far superior to the Switch 2's CPU... but since you're almost always GPU bound in modern games, it doesn't come into play all that much I'd say.

in the last 20 years? mhh...

Lego Star Wars The Complete Saga,
Force Unleashed,
Fallen Order,
Battlefront 2,
are all better than this.

This is what happened when the dev didn't lazily port the game to Switch 2, games like SW Outlaws, Cyberpunk 2077, NMS, and a few others are the testament of what SW2 capable of when using it at full potential.

Meanwhile this guy
