Digital Foundry vs Xenoblade Chronicles X: "A Wii U Technological Master Class?"

I'm glad we are getting a game that really pushes Wii U to its limits. It's always fun to see what Nintendo's hardware is capable of when they develop games specifically for that weird hardware.

Edit: not even worth it.

Game looks great. The Wii U still has some horsepower yet.

actually didn't even go to school in america, learned english from the internet and friend's but as long, as you understand me right, or are you in your feelings, cause i'm not impressed.

Hey, I might not like the guy but there is no excuse for this maybe English inst his native language.

It's not that weird is it?

It's basically a GPU focused Xbox 360 (Power PC, AMD) with more RAM and a lesser CPU.

At least, that's how I've come to understand it.
 
Very great that the Fps is stable and up to 30.
Too bad about the pop-ups ..those are really bad.
No collisions is jarring , but i can live with it.

It's a real shame about the shadows but i can't even imagine what would this game would be on performance if it had dynamic shadows for the maps. A shame but understandable.

But damn if this pop-up isn't annoying to see.

It must be more taxing to render that than gently rolling lands and pretty much every area in X is like that with huge structures jutting out which can actually be visited (even flown to).

Yeah, I think some people tend to forget about the verticality, which is a huge thing for any 3D game. Even Zelda Wii U, from what we've seen, is way more "flat".

It's some weird tri-core extension of the ancient PowerPC 600 architecture. It has 32MB of fast eDRAM to somewhat compensate for its slow main memory. And of course it has a screen built into the controller, with some truly impressive ultra-low-latency streaming tech.

Nothing super exotic I guess, but I would still call it a weird product of compromises (for low cost, low power consumption/small footprint, and hardware backwards compatibility).
 
Xenoblade X combines technically great graphics with great art design. Something most western developer not able to achieve in their desperate and always unsuccessful attempt to make "realistic" graphics.

Gorgeous graphics aside it is worth mentioning that Xenoblade X has no bugs anywhere. An achievement no western open world game in recent years could complete. Most where bugfest even month after release.

I wouldn't doubt this release coming a half a year later has some of the hot fixes applied. I ran into some wonkiness with some of the online components for a bit after initial launch (resulted in issues with load times and recruiting), but all those got ironed out pretty quickly. Also, it doesn't have the universal interactivity of say, a Fallout game, so it has fewer points of failure.

It's so nice to see when games companies consider the hardware and work within those limits. So many games this generation have crappy performance because the developers are pushing the hardware too much or not optimizing the code enough.

I do wish the Wii U had better hardware but they have showed time after time that you don't need the most powerful hardware to create stunning game worlds.I can only imagine what they could do if they had more horsepower.

The game looks beautiful, one of the most unique and impressive games out this year. Monolith are masters in terms of scale. You have the right to your own opinion on the game, but don't think for a second that anyone is going to mistake it for anything other than extreme negative bias.

RDR runs at "This entails a full 720p resolution on Xbox 360 along with 2x multi-sampling anti-aliasing. Am i missing something? You were championing that RDR looks leaps and bounds better than X.
 
Regarding the zeno/zeeno thing: Isn't it largely down to where you're from? As a Brit, I'd only heard 'zennophobia', 'zennomorph', 'zennogears' etc. growing up, but now when I hear people in North America speak, I hear them say 'zeeno____'.

A bit like 'Nez' and 'en ee ess'.

I never said the game is ugly, i think its looks good, nice art style, its just its missing some important things to me graphically, and i feel red dead and GTAV look better graphically, is that so bad?
