DIRT 5 | PlayStation 5 Special Look | Gameplay and Next-Gen Details

Playing the Amplified version on One X and the new patch that came today seems to have much improved performance. Not noticing any screen tearing anymore on the One X version at least.

I'm curious how it will feel on the DualSense. Might make multiplats a tough choice where to play if it's really cool.

Dont act like you have xbox friends.

I'm happy this one doesn't have any tearing. I don't know what's with Xbox games and tearing. Does MS hate Vsync?

The impulse triggers on the X One was already a huge step in immersion for racing games.

I hope the DualSense holds up to what it promises. It can be an even bigger jump in feedback than impulse triggers.

This is a promotional video by Codemasters, did you really expect they'd show footage with tearing in it?

Yeah, that's the one I was using, and downloaded further files in the system to merge both audio and video. It got blocked by youtube maybe few days back, sadly. I was trying to download the new spiderman gameplay with that cartoony suit to extract some screenshots.
I just downloaded this very video in 4K as a test. Strange it doesn't work for you. :messenger_neutral:

Screenshot (yeah the compression is bad, but that's just how it was uploaded on YouTube originally):

I think it's something on your end, because the software itself is not blocked by YouTube.

Anyhow, here's the downloaded video shared through WeTransfer if you need it :messenger_smiling_with_eyes:: https://we.tl/t-tOBO6JIkFW

Now checked it again and it's working now! WTF! Checked it like 6 times with no luck.

Not really, no where near as bad as the last XSX version.
I don't know how bad it was on XSX but there are crowds of people and stones appearing out of the ether in that video aswell as fairly obvious texture lod pop in.
Not terribly distracting but it's still very much there.

I think this will force them to implement it on the standard one. Being an elite feature with a controller that's extremely expensive won't make 3rd party devs do the extra work for a niche minority. I think Xbox will make a new revision down the line.

The ground looks the same as the XoX version I am playing now. Low res but uses mesh displacement mapping.

But it was in the Xbox videos. They gave them the material no? And this isn't just Dirt. There are plenty of Xbox games I played with tearing and the same games on PS don't have it. I don't get why they don't turn on Vsync.

Nope I watched the crowds and they are drawn in distance and dont pop in magically. Please time stamp and show us.

6gb patch today for the Xbox versions, was playing on X1X yesterday and 60hz mode had loads of screen tearing, after the patch install it's all gone and asset streaming is greatly improved.

It actually looks pretty nice and it's not the next gen version.

Thanks for the feedback!

The DualSense alone makes for a lot multiplatform games the PS5 the best version for me!

It's not "only" about graphics anymore, but immersion.

I actually agree somewhat. More so for this game I could see adaptive triggers working very well letting you feel the groves in the track.

It's one of the only 3rd party games to really use the Xbox's rumble triggers as well which also gives great feedback but adaptive triggers would just take it to the next level.

One other thing for the first time in a long time I really noticed the feedback in the Xbox controller on a racing game, maybe because of PS5 controller devs are putting a bit more time into this feature.

That's good to hear. I hate screen tearing. Gives me headaches.

Imagine feeling ABS working through the trigger. That would be crazy in Gran Turismo. I am not sure if Dirt 5 comes with abs.

Video only shows 720p max setting for me on YouTube, so there's no point in watching it.

Something wrong with your device, it has 4K mode. But the video itself shows pixilation at some point, maybe they've used the internal video recording of the PS5 which is most likely compressed (up to 4K@60fps with HDR, but doubt HDR in this footage as it would make it look worse when shown in SDR) instead of using external device for higher quality footage.

Yeah I know what you're talking about, and it's not funny to feel ABS in our wet season as you might get fucked. :lollipop_tears_of_joy:

That's why I pay for full insurance + offroad insurance. If I feel the slightest danger, would simply jump off the car.:lollipop_fearful:

Ask and ye shall receive

2:17-2:19
Crowd pop in

0:44
Texture lod texture pop in castle

0:48
Rock texture in background lod pop in

2:43 rocks on ground appearing in front of car.

2:01 rock in background lod loads in.

When he was talking about graphics it was like meh but then he started to smile when talking about the Dualsense like a kid. The experience must be special.

Checked them all, you are right. But this is the 120Hz mode, would need more videos of both versions 4K@60fps and 120Hz mode for comparison.

Funny how people were saying that only 1st party games would be taking advantage of the PS5-exclusive features (haptics, adaptive triggers, 3D audio) and 3rd parties wouldn't bother making the effort for just one version. So far it seems like almost all of them actually are, and that they're pretty excited about it. Very promising!

True, it's not ideal. A proper comparison and head to head is needed rather than comparing random videos from random stages from random points in development.

Both look similar, which is shit looking. Only clear 100% to me so far is no screen tearing and stable resolution with no apparent jaggies on the car on PS5, but that happens at the beginning of the race on XSX so we need a beginning of the race on PS5 as well.

It's because those haptic feedback, adaptive triggers are standardized, and probably the tools to optimized for them seem easy to do according to how many are taking advantage of them. Same goes for 3D audio, it's available for nearly any headset/headphone and might be emulated later on for TV speakers and surround systems.

The majestic African fish eagle!

You mean the elite controller? Does the standard one has it?

I'm not sure. I've checked other videos today on the same browser on my laptop. Other videos are giving me up to 4K option, but for some reason this specific video is capped at 720p

Well in performance mode on the X1X there is a part in the quarry where a massive wall draws in right in front of you, reminded me of Daytona USA on the Saturn😅
