Dissidia Final Fantasy NT (PS4) announced (early 2018)

How else are they meant to handle 3 v 3 UI the screen includes all the main required info for all 6 characters, I imagine the 1 v 1 would be less of course

But her mechanism changed quite a lot (kinda).
I heard that she was pretty bad in Dissidia Arcade which is quite disappointing.

As a Shanttoto main in the PSP days, I think this new play style will make her more interactive and rewarding to use. But it is true that I barely see her used now in comparison to the early days, cant remember if she got nerfed or just got left on the shelf to get some dust a bit. I never heard of her being bad though.

The following is a list of characters that are playable in Dissidia Final Fantasy. Upon the game's initial release, its cast of playable characters was only 14[12], however, through updates, the count is increasing towards the developers' goal of 50.[7] Usually, one character is introduced into the game every month. The developers have even stated that once the goal of 50 characters has been reached, they would like to include even more as to them, "50 feels like a small number". They also wish for all characters playable in the previous Dissidia titles to return.

We have 24 confirmed characters (including Noctis) so it's high likely that we would get all characters coming back which would push the numbers to 34 characters since we have 10 more veterans left. Oddly enough, I do think Minwu is likely to become playable character since someone really want him in, and there are few numbered final fantasy that are still lacking the villains (like 11, 12, 13 and 14)

That's great, More and more characters is only a good thing for a game like this, especially with 3 on 3.

I think Minwu would be a great addition from FF2. FF12 -does- already have a villain though: Gabranth. I'd rather see Balthier or Ashe if they're going to add another character from that one.

I wonder what FF14 villain they would be using though honestly I'm unsure about who they would be using.

Is Gabranth or Vayne not in Dissidia yet? XIII has a huge lack of any decent villain to pull from so you would have to go Caius from XIII-2 if you want to get any sort of villain from that series. XIV would also be hard to pull from. Maybe Gaius van Baelsar, but his design is really not all that distinct from XII judges so I think they would want a more original design from XIV. To that end it would be probably best to grab one of the Ascians even though I know they are not popular with the XIV fanbase here on GAF.

Fun fact: when picking a FF14rep for this game, they almost went with Minfilia or Gaius, but opted for Yshlota since she was a fan favorite in 1.0 and they felt that OG FF14 players would resonate with her more.

EDIT: mis remembered the info but close enough:

Y'shtola was chosen to represent Final Fantasy XIV because she is recognizable, can fight, and has some individuality in her skills. Minfilia and Gaius Van Baelsar were also considered to fill Y'shtola's position, but she was selected because she has not appeared in many games

I'm actually getting much more interested to think of who else they would add if they are really aiming for a 50 character roster.

If Dissidia 012 had 30 characters (and if all 30 will be added into the game at launch or later on) and we have at least 6 new characters in the form of a FF14 character, Noct (who I think is still unconfirmed at this point), Ramza from Tactics, Ace from Type-0 and two other "new" characters just for NT, that still leaves up another 14 that could still be added.

If that's the case, I wonder who the last set of characters would be. Personally, I'd go with Edge from FF4, Auron from FF10, and Seymour from FF10. Bonus points if Sazh from FF13 somehow finds his way in (But point deductions if Snow get in instead of Sazh... Mind you that he would make a good test dummy).

Forget Noctis , we need the real best FFXV character, who was criminally underused:

I hope the maps they're announcing later on are FF4 and FF8 related, seeing as they're some of the only mainline FF games to not have a map yet.

I'd love it if Balamb Garden was a map for FF8.

I've been looking forward to this game for so long, but the UI is literally from hell. It looks like a junky ass cellphone game. There is no way this game will gain the audience it should if it stays this way. What the hell is that? For that to be the one thing bringing this down is nutty.

ahahahaha

is this really a thing

Absolutely. They somehow make a fighting game look like an MMORPG. How the hell did they manage to stuff so much crap in one screen is beyond me.

Is there an interview or something that indicates 50 character is a thing? Seems way too many for me.

Gabranth was in both of the previous games and I am sure he'll return for this one as well. Just one of those veterans who haven't been announced yet. For a XIV villain they could go with Hydrus, the new Stormblood badguy. Or just not do a villain and like with the XI reps pick another protag, like Thancred or something.

Really dodged a bullet then. Y'shtola is awesome, but Minfillia is the definition of awful.

a poster mentioned it but why is there so much flying...dont get it wrong its definitely a nitpick on my end but it seems more floatly.

i always imagined these games like an intricate power stone, final fantasy edition but this looks much more promising than the PSP releases. online should be pretty dope if done right

That seems like a weird justification as Gaius and Minfilia have only been in the same amount of games as Y'shtola.

That said she's the best, though, I wish they'd use her Heavensward design. The ARR design was one of my least favorite designs in the series.

I would go Ascian because it's clear that they are the "end goal" bad guys. Not the Garleans.

Kaine Highwind needs an Estinien skin in that sick blood-red armor.

If cross-game skins are viable, when cloud of Darkness makes it it better get a XI skin, to play up the impersonal force of nature factor.

Shantotto is villain enough for XI (like Kain she can swing both ways, only through self-interest instead of brainwashing), but Lilith would be a great "pure" antagonist from XI.

That's an insult to elegant MMO GUI designs.

Helloooo? Caius?
One of the few chosen ones who actually did turn the world into chaos

Do you have to memorize lots of combos in this game? I'm really bad at that.

If you mean like in street fighter then no.

Its like
Midair: Attack + Forward,
Midair: Attack + Backward
Ground: Attack + Forward,
Ground: Attack + Backward

Midair: HP Attack + Forward,
Midair: HP Attack + Backward
Ground: HP Attack + Forward,
Ground: HP Attack + Backward

If it is still like the ones on psp.

The system is also not a typical fighting system. Normal attacks dont do HP damage, they increase your damage value you can do with an HP attack. So in order to do much damage with an HP attack, you first have to increase the power by hitting many normal attacks. Getting attacked by normal attacks will decrease your HP attack value and increase the one who hit you..... if that makes sense

He might be one of the other fighters coming along though I'm not surprised if he doesn't.

I don't remember if XI and XIV had their villains, but with XV they should at least have Ardyn, since y'know, main villain of that and it's not an MMO like those two are. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't include him though, but they should.

I also wonder, what part of Eos, if any, would they have as a map?

Nice, very nice. I know its an arcade game but I hope they can add things to make it similar to the obscene depth that the original Dissidia titles had.

Ariana Grande or Genesis? Really
SE, please keep them out of Dissidia!

There are better and more important characters to be included.
