Why does he wear the mask!?
Must be confusing for new readers though

New Hulk
Two Captain Americas
Two Thors
Two new Iron Man/Woman's
Miles in the 616

Probably more I'm forgetting, but still, for those who are coming off the movies, it must be confusing.

Franklin: Hey dad what about this this one?

Reed: hmmmm I don't know let me think......

Molecule Man: oh just throw that one away

We will never find out what the deal was with Ultimate Peter Parker seemingly coming back from the dead and eloping with Mary Jane. What was the point of that story, Marvel?

It was Bendis pandering, giving Peter and MJ a happy ending because he got wind of Secret Wars.

Expect nothing of it.

naw, sans all that shit.
It's part of its greatness.

Christ even I don't care.

Pete should've stayed dead. The only issue I have with the Ultimate Universe, honestly.

That and when Gwen dated Peter.

It means more when Captain America speaks out against social injustices.

I guess.

No. Why does he need the downgrade anyways? What's wrong with there being two?

Downgrade? I'm just saying that having Sam 'Captain America' Wilson and the real Captain America running simultaneously seems to undermine the position of the former...

No because Fox will never say "He isn't 'Our' Falcon"

...but maybe it's a story point, as this implies. It's just something that annoys me in comics, like Dick Grayson getting the Batman mantle and it being taken away as quickly as it was given. Having two Captain America seems like hedging their bets.

"Franklin raises his hand, ready to sling a new Ultimate Universe into existence. Reed stretches over and gently puts it down."

"Naaaaaaaaahhhh"

remove the fuckery and millar from the equation and it would be interesting to see what could have been.

put that in the playbook with 616 miles and what made thor unworthy in unsolved mysteries

New readers aren't really a thing that much anymore anyway

They haven't been a thing for a while. Corporate synergy is useless.

Yep.

At most the comics and movies allow for sharing of some ideas be it movies using skeletons of comic plots or comics bringing in skeletonish versions of movie characters.

Neither really need the other.

The barrier of entry into comics is soooooo overstated. I mean every comic reader out there started just by picking up a random issue and going with it.

Comics need better advertising. Billboards, bus stops... the works. I don't know how much that'll work though.

I went in to Sinestro Corp War as my first true entry in to comics with a basic comprehension on what it was and I didn't know what was going on. But it was fucking awesome.

And I'm talking basic, I didn't know what a trade was, or what an ongoing meant, and had no knowledge on what a creative team did.

Wasn't there a whatif of this? Where doom was ironmam and visa versa?

uh, its really common for comics to have multiple people have the same hero name at the same time, like the 3 spider man currently running about, or the two Captain Americas.

It's comics. There's two of a lot of people a lot of the time.

There's two Spider-Men and two Thors and two Captain Americas and two Beasts and two Icemen and two Angels and two Cyclops.

Man, comic books sure are dumb.

This double character stuff looks wacky to nonreaders but this isn't even in the top 1000 wacky things to ever happen in comics. I've read enough Jack Kirby and Mark Millar.
