I may or may not be able to watch live today. I'm in South Carolina right now and we might be leaving while it's on. So I might not get to watch it until after I arrive back in Pennsylvania at like 4am.

On the one hand, I'd hate to miss it live, but on the other hand, I just want to go home so. The earlier the better. That's what DVRs are for. I guess I'll have to stay off of Twitter during my ride home too.

There are those who said this day would never come, what are they to say now?

Those people have a very confused notion of the progression of time. 50th anniversaries are inevitable; we'll get the 50th anniversary of Eldorado at some point.

Eh, BBC Worldwide have issued a Copy Right claim on my Eleventh Hour Panel due to it having a clip in it from The Time of Angels.

Looks like I'll need to edit it.

Nevermind all those other videos out there though eh!

Watched AISAT last night, loved it. Caught the feels at the Tennant line. Turns out my kids are having a playdate tonight and it just so happens to be around the time the special comes on. GOOD NEWS! Some of the parents are really excited to watch it. Impromptu Who Party at my place tonight.

XCOM getting in on the action:

In honor of the #DayoftheDoctor , nickname your gene modded soldier after your favorite Time Lord. #XCOM #DoctorWho

Oh man I can't wait. It's really amazing we made it this far without any major leaks!

Knowing Moffet there has to be some big twist at the end....I wonder if the War Doctor regenerates or might come back next season?

Made an agreement with another GAF member, refused to honor it because he was broke, but then had no problem continuing to buy video games.
I haven't watch Dr Who in about half a year, do I need to catch up to something to understand the special?

Ugh, really bummed unless there's a mobile link somewhere. If someone makes a new GAF thread with major spoilers in the title I will go ballistic.

BBCA doesn't seem to have any kind of mobile site (nor do they seem to stream like BBC proper does). Your only option might be going on social, media, and social media blackout until the second showing at 7pm est.

Edit:

To clarify, in the North America, Day of the Doctor airs at 2:50pm EST (Live simulcast) and then a second airing at 7pm EST (will have commentary/comments from Matt Smith and David Tennant).

FUCK. :( I won't be able to focus on anything until then. Maybe I might be able to drop by my friends house and watch his DVR.

You should watch the second half of Season 7 (or just the finale if you're in a hurry) and then The Night of the Doctor.

I'm going to go against this and say that while watching the finale of the last series - or indeed the whole thing - is preferable, you should be OK. This doesn't pick up after the cliffhanger at the end of the series directly - it's set months later, in fact - and the production team will know a lot of people who don't usually watch the show will watch this, so it'll probably stand strongly as a standalone story.

OK, guys, I'm about to hop on the bus into the city centre.

I'm gonna have a swift pint then make my way to the cinema. I shall be reporting back after, if I survive.

Having no context at all for Hurt might cause problems though, no?

They're going to re-explain it. There's no way they won't. It's the same way they dumped flashback stuff and explanatory dialogue about Ood and Prophecies and The Master into The End of Time - they know this episode will have 10+ million viewers minimum in the UK where the send of Series 7 and more like 7 million, so they'll build stuff in.

Especially abroad, this episode and the fanfare surrounding it is a chance to make new fans. They won't mire that in tons of required backstory, they'll explain stuff. I mean, Series 7 doesn't really give us any context for Hurt anyway.

There's already a line in the trailer - "I've had many faces, many lives... and there's one life I've tried very, very hard to forget" that ALREADY basically explains everything you need to know from Series 7/Night of the Doctor in one go.

I think this was my favourite bit from Adventures...

Deliatastic!

PS; this post is 50 years to the minute that it started, if I'm correct.

Not gonna be able to watch this until 7:30pm PST - gonna bail out as soon as 11am hits, and basically go into internet lockdown.

See you on the other side, ladies & gentlemen.

There is a difference between being active and inactive and indeed Dr. Who has faced oblivion on several occasions.

My hype is so goddamn high for this. I've never been the hugest Matt Smith fan so I can't wait to finally get a bit more Tennant. A little over two hours, hype hype hype.

What are a few good Smith episodes from seasons 5 and 6? I have only watched the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 7th seasons. Feel like watching some before the special starts.

Since we only have about two hours until the special, I'd recommend The Doctor's Wife and The Eleventh Hour.

Series 5:
The Eleventh Hour
The Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone
Amy's Choice
Vincent and the Doctor
The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang

Series 6:
The Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon
The Doctor's Wife
The Girl Who Waited

But if you're just killing time until the special airs live, I say just The Eleventh Hour and The Doctor's Wife too.

Haha so according the announcer after Return of the Jedi ITV are celebrating the 10 year Anniversery of the X Factor tonight.

Also Doctor Who Pointless is on, with Sylvester McCoy and Bernard Cribbins, and K-9

Anyone know if the BBCA airing will have ads? Need to know if I can just watch it live, or wait like 15 mins before I start so I can skip them.

Yeah, Cowell purposefully scheduled that for today to try and take away from Doctor Who
