And yes, there is no Rory figure which makes no sense because they have figures of all these secondary characters from one-off episodes like "Uncle" from The Doctor's Wife and The Winders from The Beast Below.

I had wondered if Arthur Darvill hadn't given permission for his likeness to be used, but apparently he has.

Uh yeah, I opened up the box and thought to myself (I WANT THIS). But it's hers, alas.

She does love little Amelia though so I have to order one. This whole thing ran me about 50 bucks on amazon believe it or not...

Hurry-only 2 left!

That is really really weird that there's no Rory. Something has to be up if they're making Winders figures but not Rory.

Maybe action figure Rory never existed because it fell through the cracks.

Does anyone know when season 6 will be on Netflix? I have watched them all, but my boyfriend prefers to marathon style watch shows so he is waiting.

Season 5 didn't show up on Netflix until right before Season 6 aired. So it will probally be about another 11 months or so.

Great, 11 more months of trying to talk about the show with out giving away any spoilers for the season. I tried to get him to buy it on Amazon VOD, but he does not want to spend $32 on something when it will come on Netflix in the not too distant future.

Buy the DVD/Blu next month and then lend it to him.

I might, I just do not typically buy a lot of DVD/Blu. Especially with such a short season and only about half of the episodes have any rewatchability. Honestly I can not even remember the last DVD I bought for myself. My collection is quit small.

Well, if he wants to marathon then he has to wait. :)

He should have to suffer like the rest of us. :)

The minifig versions are so cool. Started collecting the second series recently but blind bags wind me up. On the plus side, just got the 11 Doctors set. So much better than big figures.

Hmn, not sure if I should do this but...

Thinkgeek on Twitter is giving away five of the 10th S.S. if you reply to them with the #timeywimey hash...

The God Complex: I don't remember what was Toby Whithouse's other contribution to the show, but this was far more nuanced than I remember his previous stuff to be like. It helps that the direction is simply superb -it's very difficult to notice all the budget-cutting that's going around in this series, probably because of how the camera-work looks more professional. It is jarring to jump from Series One to Six. Like two different shows altogether.

Strictly talking about the script I don't think it got strong until about midway through when the monster starts taking everyone out. And it's when Amy starts getting threatened that it shines through. The whole climax and final arc are something I was expecting for her character since the end of series five. It's ballsy to ask the Doctor and the companion to "grow up". Moments like this one make the joy and sorrow of travelling with the Doctor magnificent.

Also, as much as I like Moffat, I am glad he let someone else finish Amy's arc. He is great at constructing intricate plots, but he's rather blunt when dealing with the small character stuff (albeit not on the level of RTD). This speaks of the writing team finally working together to deliver a consistent tone throughout this series. The dissonance in previous ones was notorious, although not necessarily bad. 10/10

Fake edit: Toby Whithouse did School Reunion? That explains it.

Good Luck! The contest is open until 5PM EST if anyone else on twitter is interested.

Thanks for selflessly reducing your chances to include the rest of us. I think my life would be better with a sonic screwdriver.

That reminds me, I once saw a CM at Space Mountain in Florida using Ten's Sonic to check peoples Fast Passes at night when it was dark. Needless to say mad props were given, lol

Yeah, I didn't win. But I already have the 11th's S.S. If anything, I want that damn Vortex Manipulator that never seems to be in stock. (note: It's not on ThinkGeek)

Congrats if you won, sorry if you didn't!

Closing Time: Can we have Craig as a permanent companion partner pretty please? He's like Mickey in Series One, but with an actual backbone. Although his size would certainly be a bit of a bother during the action scenes....

I loved The Lodger, and this episode was basically the sequel or an epilogue of that. It's great how they managed to fit all the comedy aspects with the character arc of the Doctor regarding his impending death -and of how he and Craig are basically being force to grow up, just like Amy did before in the The God Complex.

I wish those last five minutes had been moved to the following episode. The disparity in tone between the Craig stuff and the Kovarian shit (who, by the way, is an awful villain of the likes not even RTD dared to write). Make the last episode extra long or something, but don't make me go from the funny to the stupidly corny so abruptly. I understand the need for a cliffhanger, but surely there are better ways to come up with it than that. Every single aspect of that scene has been done before. It stopped being mysterious a while ago. 9/10

P.S. These past three episodes have been the very best streak of Doctor Who since, shit, ever? Stuff is actually happening character-wise and the stand-alone episodes have a connecting theme of responsibility in the face of adventure. Plus the direction has been simply superb.

Look at some of the shirts they have at the Doctor Who Exhibit.

None really blow me away, but figured you guys would want to have a look. The console one would be the only one I'd consider buying.

I'm jealous, Amir0x. Goddamn.

At Fan Expo, there was a vendor who sold mostly Doctor Who stuff. Looking through it, I couldn't decide what to get, and I didn't want to blow most of my money there, so I kept saying that I'd come back again to look, and four days later I didn't even get anything. :(

And I almost bought a Tom Baker scarf a lady knitted, who was selling it just outside the doors to the showroom, but $100 was a bit much, and I figured I would try to find it for cheaper.

On another note, I just placed my order of the Doctor Who season 6 blu-ray on Amazon. Can't wait!

Anyone know the kind of coat the Doctor was wearing in the second half of this season? He was wearing it in LKH.

The Wedding of River Song: I don't know how to feel about this. I like the imagery, I like the themes around it, I like the pay-off... but it feels off. Both direction-wise and writing-wise. It doesn't make sense to have a story with the Doctor
tricking death immediately after one where he readily accepts it
. It seems to me that Moffat, in his eagerness to tie up the remaining plot strands (even when opening plot holes by doing so), forgot the character arc he had set up throughout the second half of the season.

I guess it was inevitable considering this is a show which has to always go on, but the suddenness of the Doctor's change of heart cheapens his character as he's been built for the past two years. This episode is structured like a two-parter in forty-minutes, but by doing so Moffat is skipping on a bunch of character drama that is necessary to convince us about the Doctor's switcheroo. Instead we skip all of that character drama and get a glimpse of the big picture. Realities colliding! Familiar places with strange images! Cameos! Live Chess! They make for a nice background, but they shouldn't be more than that. It's like Moffat is trying to distract you with all the curious ideas instead of actually developing the character in the path he is supposed to take.

Re: direction: Tons of "here's one face/now here's another face" cuts. It's boring and predictable. The God Complex in particular had outstanding camera-work, masking all the budget cutting and making the Minotaur look menacing. All the effects in this episode are awful except for the shots in London, where it is obvious they spent all the money allocated. Right now it's the moment where the direction should be helping the underwhelming script, not backwards. Oh well, 7/10.

Series 6 is probably my favourite despite the disappointment in the finale. The show is a lot more consistent now quality-wise than before, and the great picture plot is actually tied into the character drama that made RTD's run worth watching. For all my complaints about Moffat, his tenure has brought a greater sense of quality on the show. Everything looks shinier, the acting is more convincing, and, generally, there's a greater sense of dynamism and causality going in the episodes than before. If I had to rank them right now, it would be 6 > 5 >> 3 > 1 >>> 2 >>>>>>>>> 4

EDIT: Also, just because it's late and I can't sleep: The God Complex = The Girl Who Waited = The Doctor's Wife > Closing Time > The Impossible Astronaut > Day of the Moon > A Good Man Goes to War > Let's Kill Hitler > The Wedding of River Song > Night Terrors > The Curse of the Black Spot > The Almost People > The Rebel Flesh

Disgusting. Doctor Who in name only.

Moffat continues his disturbing trend of tossing a bunch of garbage at the wall in order to see what sticks, and this episode fetishizes the Doctor even more than any previous episode. There was no subversion, we just get a bunch of discussion about wonderful the Doctor is and how every single being in all of reality is creaming their pants at the thought of him, while the Doctor runs off making googly eyes at a crazed murderer. The resolution to the season long story arc was both disappointing and poorly executed. It was, in a word, cheap. Amidst all this, we got more of Moffat sticking his right wing views down our throat with the Doctor palling around with Churchill. Genuinely a disgusting bit of television with no narrative structure or purpose.

This was the worst episode of Doctor Who since Flight through Eternity.
I woudn't put it quite that way. I tried to be polite though.

I'll be honest, Closing Time and the Doctors Wife are the only eps this year I really enjoyed. Closing Time was fun, but felt a bit cheap with the cybermen being defeated so easily.

The Doctors Wife was great. I want more of that quality please, guys :D

I look at things differently. He always planned on cheating it; the apparent acceptance of death and big farewell tour were a big sham to try and make it look convincing.

There was another guy selling Tom Baker Scarves at Fan Expo for $30 (long) and $15 (short). Good quality too. I bought a long one and a short one.

No. We need to begin a twitter campaign to get Moffat to put Craig on Who.

EDIT: I sent a tweet to Moffat with the tag #GetCraigyFergOnWho. It won't go anywhere, but it is worth a shot. Matt Smith seems to really want it. And tonight's interview was really fun.

I wanna shoot my DVR... It was saying Maria Bello instead of Matt Smith, then I saw CBS's website and only caught the Big Cash Prize bit :/

You know what's fun?

Going back and watching the library two-parter now.

You know what's more fun?

Going back and reading GAF's speculation on who River Song is. :D

As I said earlier, watching it for the first time after watching season 5/6 is an amazing experience. Great episodes.
