When the hype around Peterson Joseph as the 11th Doctor was in full force I didn't quite get it. Since then I've seen his performance in Peep Show and I'd love to see him get his chance as the 12th.

I thought this when his name had been thrown out there. He'd worked with Moffat before on Jekyll too, so while it did seem perhaps a bit of an odd choice I think it could have been possible and definitely interesting.

I think the guy who played Simon on Misfits is quirky enough to be the Twelfth Doctor.
This guy'd be awesome too- i'd have never made that choice before reading this though, good shout.

Iwan Rheon, he was one of the more interesting Misfits characters and he's doing a stint on Game of Thrones at the moment iirc, he could be an interesting Doctor, if only because his character would probably be nothing like 10/11 and their own brand of quirky.

if Iwan Rheon's corny ass gets cast as The Doctor I'm gonna stop watching. nice character in misfits but i just did not like his performance for the most part.

hell I'd rather they just get Rudy/Woody instead if we're talking about Misfits actors.

Hey peeps a couple of weeks ago I finished watching all the nu-who episodes, and I want to know if the Doctor's clone/Daughter Jenny would ever be shown again?

She hasn't made an appearance since that episode. Can't really say for sure if she ever will.

Martin Freeman needs to be the Doctor. He has already played Arthur Dent, Bilbo Baggins and Watson, he only needs to be the Doctor and Bond to become the biggest British legend of all time.

I hope the next Doctor is at least in his late 30s, if not in his 40s. I don't want another young pretty boy.

He's going to probably be busy with Game of Thrones for the next six+ years. I don't think there's any way that he could manage to fit in a starring role in Doctor Who (which is a pretty demanding role).

Can you explain why?

Sure. It was a dumb story. There's no need to revisit it-much like I don't need to see the villainous Cassandra return or "The Wire" from the Idiot's Lantern. Those stories had their time and there's no pressing need to return to it. The show has evolved since then and taking a dip back into a random one off episode would be a waste of the potential of a better story. I'd much rather the focus be on new characters at this point instead of rehashing something mundane.

Same could have been said of River....

Same could have been said of River....

But with River, her character from the start had a past with the doctor that was a mystery. You knew that she would come back and there would be this shared history and past between them. For some reason-mostly because the actress was "cute"-people seem to think that Jenny will have to come back. There wasn't really anything at all memorable about her character other than the fact that she was an attractive actress.

When the central conceit of a character is "we're gonna learn more about her", the obvious solution is "let's not reveal any more about her". At some point, all you're saying is "I didn't like her so she shouldn't exist"

If she was wouldn't they have kept her dead by the end of the episode?

Key fact: The original version of the script had her dying. After Moffat agreed to take over, RTD sent him all the scripts for series 4, including the ones by other writers, so that Moffat wouldn't start building anything for Series 5 that was too similar. It was Moffat that had that final scene injected. As long as he's in charge, and as long as he's having meals with her dad and her husband, I'd say she has a fair chance.

Other than she is a clone of the Doctor, and there aren't exactly a lot of those running around, even at the end of the universe.

Why aren't there anymore Doctor Who spinoffs?

There were three.

Torchwood
Sarah Jane Adventures
K-9

Torchwood had a good run, currently nothing happening with it after Miracle Day, which apparently people weren't happy with.

Sarah Jane Adventures was primarily for kids. Unfortunately, Elisabeth Sladen passed away due to cancer. Can't have a Sarah Jane Adventures without Sarah Jane herself.

K-9 is still going on, I'm pretty sure.

I know about these, but there should be new ones.

Craig and Stormageddon sitcom!

Miracle Day might be the single most horrible thing to be associated with Doctor Who. The fall from Children of Earth to that is astounding. We're talking heights that Red Bull wouldn't sponsor a jump from.

Can't tell if you're kidding or not.

Well, it all turned out just fine. It didn't happen.

Why do you say that?

I personally agree. I'm glad it was scrapped.

I think having Rose's two-part re-appearance is the lesser of two evils compared to a spin-off series based on her in the parallel universe.

The idea was Rose works with Torchwood in the parallel universe. Sort-of happened in season 4.
