Dragon Age: Inquisition |OT2| Leave the damn Hinterlands!

Mmm the mage specs feel a little underwhelming for me, necromancer is fun to hit and run also cool aoe animation kinda like the fire skills but purple, the rift spec is so ewwww and I didnt bothered to try the enchanter spec.

Any suggestions about which spec to use?

Knight Enchanter means you can never be killed and you'll transform into a melee tank. Rift mage is a bunch of fun, Pull of the Abyss ---> Fire Mine doesn't get old. Necro is the worst of the three atm, due to buggy skills.

Knight Enchanter if you want to be massively OP to point of being able to take on dragons solo.

I just discovered the prison in skyhold not sure how I missed this area the past 2 weeks.

I Have nobody to judge currently so I'm asking here.

Did I miss out on some conversations with the prisoners I judged previously assuming they are held there as they wait judgement.

Ok

Thanks for the quick replies.

It would have been cool to talk to some of them if that is were they end up waiting for judgment or imprisoned for life.

Ok, please tell me that
Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts
is the worst mission in the game.

I can't imagine a more boring quest.

Yes maybe?! I liked it it, certainly a change of pace but I can see why some people would dislike it.

I'm surprised how great this game looks even though I just started, I decided to pick this up for my Xbone because target was: Out of PC copies and then I heard about the issues with the tactical camera, shitty mouse/keyboard controls and to be honest it doesn't look that much better than the console versions.

And they were also out of the PS4 versions so...xbone it was because I had been out shopping and doing shit all day and all I wanted to do was buy the game.

Got it for $30 bucks(price matched with Amazon before it went up to $44.99), which is nice.

The xbone version is a little bit blurrier than the PS4/PC versions but that's to be expected, game still looks incredible though.

Combat feels like a weird mishmash of DA:O and DA2, it's better than DA2 which I couldn't even play past the beginning before I returned it for being so fucking awful.

The story is pretty interesting so far and the writing isn't terrible, but we'll see as I am not that far into it. I also thought it was neat that they added a cool thing where you can reply to characters outside of cutscenes and have banter with them and choose responses.

What engine is this anyway? Frostbite? It looks like either Frostbite or cryengine.

Thinking on my second playthrough. For some reason I don't get into the idea of playing a mage or a Rogue. I like getting stuck in on the fights.

I plan on a female Elf using a sword and shield with the Champion specialisations. What is the best recommended party?

I plan on using Varric, Vivienne but should I use Iron Bull or Blackwall as my 2 handed warrior?

I have read that Iron Bull dies quickly in that role but giving him the best armour for that point of the game prevent him dying?

The main problem with it is that it was a huge miss opportunity. It should of been a dialog heavy mission with choices, instead we get boring fetch quests.

182:24 hours, and I'm done with the campaign and the sidequests. Now I'm off to the spoiler thread to see what others thought about the story and its ending. I found both satisfying myself, and the game is definitely one of my GOTY candidates. I haven't put this amount of hours into a game since Final Fantasy X.

So for crafting does lvl matter? I've been holding off as I don't want to waste resources or get a lvl 20 item while still lvl 18. Also when some materials say "+x% magic defense" is this all types of magic or not?

I thought
the tension of managing appearances while also trying to investigate was great, it was VERY lenient so it's not like it was that bad and I think that it made you feel under the gun despite that which is entirely the point.

I'm pretty completionist, so while it hurts not to 100% every side aspect of the mission during it, it's also very much more true to a roleplaying perspective and the game forces you to actually earn the ending you're getting for the mission. I like that. I love these kinds of games for the decisionmaking process, if your decisions have no weight then there's no point, this is just an extended decision you're making. If it had no weight or consequences to do things in different ways, then it would be a huge waste to make such an involved quest.

Level doesn't effect crafting or the crafted items. Magic defence is just a general magic defence stat.

Among the inquisition perks, what's should I get first? I'm already done with Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts yet I haven't even touched my perks lol I guess I'll look into more on my 2nd playthrough.

As soon as you can, get Forward Scouts. Also consider whether or not you want Deft Hands Fine Tools, since you need to put 4 perks into the Secrets category before that one becomes available, so you'll need to plan it out well ahead of time.

IMO don't bother with the Forces perks that give you schematics, you can find armor and other schematics later which are just as good if not better.

Agents count as perks, so it's actually pretty easy to get Deft Hands without investing in some of the other awful ones.

I'd highly recommend getting the focus increasing ones from Cullen as well.

Oh really? Damn, didn't know that. How do you know what category your agent provides you a perk in? Or do they all count to Secrets?

It was complete shit. And I actually liked the Fade in Origins.

Managing appearances? I thought BW failed here with the BS approval mechanic. It goes down while you're exploring and then goes back up randomly?

Earn? I don't think so. With the wonky mechanic you don't really earn anything as you loose points for running around. However, if you do the mini fetch quests it's nearly impossible not to get 100. I mean trying to complete those are really annoying because the eavesdropping points sometimes don't trigger. I had to run around the place and sometimes I'd get "Boring," while other times I'd get, "Hrm, Interesting." It made the stay in that place even more insufferable.

It was a terrible mission all around.

In the end I just told them to get their shit together, so I spared all their lives, even though by that point I was ready to kill everyone and become the Emperor of Orlais.

Extra healing potions (going from 8 to 12) is the most useful gameplay-wise by far. It can be a lifesaver on higher difficulties, and if you have party members (like Iron Bull or Cole) with low defense.

After that, I don't remember many being essential. The Deft Hands perk is nice to get early if you like exploring everywhere and don't want to bother having to travel back to an area later in the game just to unlock one room in a dungeon (most locked rooms usually just have loot, though some have mosaic or other collection items).

The "knowledge" perks in all categories, which give you conversation options and extra XP for codex entries, are good to get early too. They open up more conversation options and let you resolve some quests in different ways. The XP bonus is minimal though (25XP for each codex entry for each perk you have; they stack).

I got the Antivan Tailoring perks relatively early too, because I like to loot everywhere and my inventory was constantly reaching the limit, and I hate deleting gear.

After that I got a mix of Advanced / Master Focus, carrying a third potion, and various experience / defense buffs. Never bothered with schematics, store discounts, or materials.

I think by the end of my run I'd reached Inquisition level 17, so you should have lots of points to play with to pick and choose.

EDIT: I forgot, if you tend to gather a lot of herbs for upgrading potions, etc., get the Optimal Cutting perk. I think it has a 10% chance of triggering when you gather an herb, but if it does trigger you usually get anywhere from 1-9 extra herbs, which can save you a bit of time.

So the mission I am about to do next says recommended level 16-19 but I am only 15. Is it still possible for me to do it? Kinda getting burned out by the game now and wanting to finish it asap.

It depends on your equipment. It probably won't be too much of a problem, but keep a save from before you try it so you can rollback if necessary.

I had no problem rolling around Emprise du Lion when I was three or four levels below the recommendation, and I am no min-maxer or anything.

I cleared Emprise Du Lion at level 13/14, sans the dragons, So I'd say it's possible but likely challenging.

Just finished my nightmare playthrough (even on nightmare the game was way too easy, I finished at level 14 :/) and got the platinum. The game has its problems, but overall I loved it.

Hey, for the Winter Palace ball mission:

Anyone know what are behind those last two Halla doors that stood side by side with each of them requiring 5 statues to open? Since you can only have 10 max so that means if you want to open that last two doors you need to actually forego opening all the previous doors?

I am curious what stuff are hidden behind them.

There's 11 statues.

The 5 statue door
has a man that's tied up that you can use as evidence.
I used this guide and if you do it right you should have the perfect outcome

So the Red Jenny Caches...I don't remember ever getting a quest for those. I've found a couple and they seem to give me experience and Sera approval but it's weird that they're never mentioned by anyone.

Just finished on XB1, loved the game. Don't know how many hours I put in because of the broken timer issue on XB1, but it was a lot and I am pretty close to 100% completion. My Inquisitor is Lvl 24 and the Inquisition is Lvl 17.

Skyhold
glitched out a bit post ending, one character
Cole
can't be spoken to, and one
Blackwall
is not appearing but they are marked on the map in their usual position. Oh well, no final chats with them!

Who is that
Lord Minutae guy behind Blackwall's barn who has the quiz? I assume he appeared post completion. Is there a good purple for doing his trivia or is he just there for fun?

Man why are all the cool looking helms(and armour in general) npc only? The tevinter mage stuff looks sweet and I want the tribe chief's goat helm or the gallows skull hat from (companion spoilers)
Blackwall's quest
.

Anyone know if the armor penetration stats on a 2h sword applies to the warrior's (reaver) dragon-rage ability? Technically during the animation my character doesn't use her sword.

Any consensus on which voice actors is better for the male Inquisitor?

It's hard to judge from the small voice clip on the character creator.

One seems to have a stronger voice than the other, right?

The American one has a more gruff sounding voice while the British one is a bit higher. I have only played a little with the American accent one, but I prefer the British one.

Im 30 hours in and I still need some help with things:

1. Im a warrior and what skill gives me the ability to block things with my shield? Ive attacked guys before and I just bounce of their shield. I want that.

2. How do I unlock more / new potions and grenades?

3. What are those little silver boxes / bars that appear on my health bar?

4. Whats happening during an attack when there is slowmo?

5. How does focus work? Is it that round circle bar?

6. How do I know what upgrades like grips etc.. go on what when im browsing them to buy?
