Is it okay to switch specs for your companions without hurting their damage? Like Varric started as more of an archer type, but I decided to respec him into daggers because he is my only Rogue currently and doe way more damage as that. I know I can respec whenever using those accessories, but will it hurt Varric to just make him a full time dagger rogue? Like does he have better stats for archer?
I have ordered a bout 6 AMD Dragon Age Inquisition packs with my raptr points and I have only been able to collect the multiplayer chests. There's no Avvar quest on the war table map, or a amulet in a special chest at the home base. Is this thing only for Canada or something? I'm on PC, and play in the US. I normally wouldn't mind as I'm still using my normal horse and have yet to unlock any other mounts, but I've been using the horse lately to farm greater bears and I want it to work before the raptr DAI item is removed.
Where/When do I get the options to specialise? I believe I fulfill the level requirements and am at the correct location - where my throne sits in other words.......but I don't see anything to do to activate them?
I also have a quest to speak to an arcanist in the war room. There's a question mark in there on the map, but every time I enter the war room I just cut to the map. If it's a mission, which one is it?
Last one - I created a staff grip earlier in the game at Haven but couldn't attach it/upgrade it onto my staff.....is there are sort of logic as to why this would happen?
You have to complete a war table mission to get the trainers to skyhold, I think the war table mission appears at level 10. Arcanist might be the same thing.
Not sure about the grip, maybe your staff doesnt allow upgrades?

This depends on your gear. I guess he could probably have better cross bow stats because of his unique weapon, also his Artificer specialization may compliment ranged play more than melee, but it works for melee too so that also doesn't really matter.

God dammit. Just when I've been playing for hours with no major, game breaking bugs I somehow clip through a boulder, leading to my Inquisitor stuck in an infinite loop of dying. Can't even escape to the main menu and just have to close the program from Task Manager.
I had just killed a dragon too so I'm not sure how far back I'll have to roll back now.
My biggest mistake in this game was choosing Normal difficulty. I rarely need to use healing potions. I don't use any other kind of potion or throwable item at all. I very rarely ever die unless I'm fighting something that's way too high of a level. I don't even use the overpowered specializations and the game is still a total cakewalk.
I once went through an entire quest with none of my characters having any armor or weapons equipped and it didn't even matter. They were taking a lot more damage than normal but I still made it through anyway. I noticed after a boss fight that I never re-equipped their gear after the story forced me to wear regular clothes.
I really should have picked the hard difficulty. I played a decent amount of DA:O, but it had been a long time and I was worried I'd struggle with Hard.
I can't kill a dragon to save my life, not sure how to do 10 of them in one playthrough. I haven't looked very deep into the crafting system though. Quite possibly I am using the wrong gear/build.
Just craft some Armour/weapons and lvl a bit. I waited too long to start fighting them (lvl 21 lol) and steamrolled through all of them in around two hrs. I didn't even have the best schematics/dragon forged gear. Didn't get the trophy though.

Happened to me in fallow mire, got stuck in some rock crevice. Luckily the game had created an autosave 5 minutes before so I was able to reload and not lose too much - good luck!

Same thing kinda just happened to me...I went to far in the border of a map and my guy died but stayed there in an infinite loop...I had to quit the game via the PS4 button and the continue option landed me in the same place...thank god I have an earlier save, just about 30 minutes before...or maybe the load option will give the auto save saves, that's like 5 minutes before...

Try the one in Westen Approach first or the one in Hinterlands...try and be at least 3 level higher to make it easier if you have problems...also,go tactical, just to see what he is weak against,if your party is not ideal(fire spells against a Dragon weak to Ice)run away, warp to a camp and change party
Thankfully, I had an autosave right before I fell through the world so I didn't really lose anything. That'll teach me to explore by jumping around on rocks.
Trying to kill the dragons in Emprise du Lion and oh man, the party AI is really pissing me off. I have one of the dragons down to a sliver of health with just Blackwall and no potions but Blackwall is about dead. I have him revive Vivienne who I was going to have cast Resurgence. All of this is in Tactical view. So instead of casting Resurgence, Vivienne decides that she has to pathfind around a bunch of rocks first and charge the dragon.
1) The areas were massive and graphically they looked beautiful. Each had a distinct look and feeling so I didn't feel like I was going through tons of recycled content (except for my endless attempts to scale mountains, which were usually futile or useless in the first place).
2) For the most part, I really liked the characters themselves. Varric and Iron Bull were my favorite to talk to. For most of the game, I took the "Bro-Team" with me, which consisted of Varric, Dorian, and Blackwall/Iron Bull. But once I realized how amazing upgraded Viv and Cassandra were, I took them along instead and the game got significantly easier.
3) I really enjoyed the interactions with the characters. One of my favorite Skyhold sidequests has to be when
You find Cassandra reading Varric's book and you get him to write another one and embarrass her.
. Also the whole
Poker Scene
was one of the highlights of the game for me. It gave almost every character a memorable moment.
4) In Hushed Whispers is still the best quest in the game and one of the best missions in any game this year.
5) Capturing each Keep was awesome, especially the one in Emprise Du Lieu.
6) It's really mindblowing how much content there is in this game (though that isn't entirely a good thing). There's still a lot to do after beating the game. I should be able to get another playthrough from this game at some point this year.
7) Multiplayer isn't as bad as people are saying. It isn't as good as Mass Effect 3 but it's a decent distraction that will get better as more (free) content is added.
The Bad:
1) The overall Side Quest design wasn't good. There were so many useless collectathons. And many of the side quests had nothing to do with the overall story. Closing rifts and killing Venatori were in line with the overarching story but the fetch quests were not. Finding rings? Collecting books? You're supposed to be the Inquisitor, not a glorified errand boy (yes this kind of stuff is in many RPG's but it was really prevalent in Inquisition).
2) The overall story was pretty average at best with a very weak villain.
3) The repetition. This might go with (1) but although the environments were diverse, the tasks were not. Even the quests that had to do with the overall story weren't that great. It really felt like a Ubisoft game. And many of the quests for your party members were also collectathons, instead of something along the lines of the loyalty missions from Mass Effect 2.
4) The limits on my party members. Why couldn't
Hawke or Morrigan
be in my party again? What about Cullen or Leliana? Yes I know they have armies/networks of spies to run but don't other characters in your party also have very important tasks?
5) Many of the boss battles were pretty bad. Some had just too much health and the enemies they spawned made the fight annoying rather than challenging. Although that may just because I only finished the game at level 16 and the gear of my party members wasn't that great. But most weren't incredibly difficult, they were just tedious because they took so long (yes I played on Normal, the bosses are what's turning me off Nightmare mode).
6) The bugs. I had a worse time with this game in that aspect than both Skyrim and Assassin's Creed 3. Characters (particularly Cassandra) would go down in combat and just disappear or remain standing. This happened to me a few times during the final battle. During a few conversations, my character would start floating. This would last after the conversation and go on until I fell somewhere. I brought this upon myself but once when I fast traveled while on a ladder, my character was still climbing when I arrived at the new location, I had to reload my last save to make it stop. And worst of all, the game crashed twice within the first 27 hours, both times during main missions bus hasn't since. At least I didn't run into the corrupted game save bug that other people have.
7) The Final Mission:
It was just underwhelming. I expected this big face-off that would utilize everyone that I helped out but that didn't happen. The first and third phases of the battle were complete jokes, which didn't help with my opinion of Corypheus. But his dragon was a pain in the ass. I couldn't swap out party members or use anything from my inventory once I realized Varric would be useless for it and the thing took forever to kill since it wouldn't stop buffing itself. The game didn't even show any other fighting going on, just you and the party members that you picked.
Overall, I have to say that Dragon Age: Inquisition is a good game but there's a lot of room for improvement. Hopefully Bioware will focus on quality over quantity in the sequel and make it a priority to create an excellent main questline before they focus on the side content.
I'm at the trebuchet part in Redcliffe and this is never going to happen. There's no place to replenish health between waves, and for some reason Bioware decided that unlike the other games you don't get your health back in between battles this game. Which is beyond fucked up, especially since you're limited to a small number of flasks. Playing on hard, level = 8

Can anyone explain to me what constitution does?
I have some amulets for it.
Also with mages how can they have more magic power or whatever?
Is that bumped up via getting more willpower with with rings?
I'll be in a battle and I'll think to myself Ok time to my mage guy to hit that enemy with an ice spell, oh wait I can't he is out of power or something and cant do any attacks.

Hit the character select menu,on the third section, after tactics, all your stats are there, scroll and just hit Square(on the PS4) to examine and it explains it.
I agree w/ many of the criticisms rendered in this thread, and I'm no uber-fan of Dragon Age (couldn't even finish the last one), but DA:I has surprised me like no other game in recent memory. Some of the mechanics, the battles, the locales... I'm constantly being surprised - at times I can't believe how impressive this game is. Bravo, Bioware.
Really wish this game had mod tools so someone could make a balance tweak mod. Tempest, KE and Champion is just ridiculous. Blackwall literally cannot die on nightmare.
There is basically zero chance Bioware does a comprehensive balance patch right?

There is a chance they might tweak the balance of certain classes.
I just remember back when Origins first came out the game was legitimately tough even on normal and they made everything much easier in one of the first patches.
This game is just begging for mod tools though. If BioWare and EA are grasping for Skyrim levels of longevity and popularity, mod tools would be huge. Just imagine modders making new zones and fixing the tactical view? That would be great.

The modding community do exist, but most of them are still busy with texture modding.
Not entirely zero chance, but not in the near future, I presume. They did nerf KE a bit on the first patch, in fact.
So did anyone else doing a nightmare run find any quest to be tougher than In Your Heart Shall Burn? I've always regarded it as the most difficult part of the game on hard, but I wasn't sure if I was out of the woods yet.
Do we have any indication at all on the next patch? My play through is paused as I'm suffering from the Dorian bug where his main personal quest that starts with mother giselle never starts up, and I'm putting off advancing the game until that gets sorted.
So what the deal with load screens having a ton of stuff for me to read, but then switching to a black loading screen afterward for 80% of the remaining time?
Well crap, I completely misread the Knignt-Enchanter class and thought it was basically the Arcane Warrior from Origins. Now I'm mad I sunk 40 hours in to a Mage.

One of the Mage specialisations, basically a melee Mage. I thought it would do the same as in Origins, just allowing me to slap on some heavy armour, equip a sword and start slicing stuff while also being able to cast spells, but KE seems a lot more mage focused, relying on a barrier instead of heavy armour and a summonable sword (which you have to hold a face button to attack with?)
It sounds like the same core concept but I loved being able to run around like a warrior with spells way too much. Holding a face button to melee doesn't sound like the most appealing thing either. Ah well, looks like I'm rolling Necromancer. Warrior'll be my second playthrough I guess.
A leaked early video from PAX or GDC, cant remember which, showed much more destructible environments, regional choices(Save Crestwood or not) and the Keep system. Each of the Keeps were somewhat customizable if you wanted it as an outpost for your spies, soldiers, or something else(probably diplomats) with agents as a currency. They probably streamlined it with the system now with Cullen, Josephine and Leliana with power as the currency. Would have been nice if it was a Total War kind of War table, but I guess that would turn off the casual gamers.
I haven't seen anything yet about why it was cut from the devs themselves, although I was mostly not watching the press stuff before the release.
Does anyone remember what video or event they showed this stuff from? I distinctly remember the Keep stuff in particular.
Playing through Inquisition and taking the Keeps definitely feels like its been a victim of massive cuts. What is the point of them really? They're just slightly bigger outposts but they don't really change anything. Really the whole War Table system feels like its been gutted. And since this is BioWare, they probably won't iterate on it in a sequel but just cut it completely.

I'll be shocked if they don't fix the Tempest specialization. While the other two classes need to be nerfed, the Tempest is straight up broken thanks to the FoF + TC exploit.
Terror Demons.... god fucking damn. Im at a rift here where 3 of those pieces of shit spawn, insta pop to either one of my mages or Varric, bypass the tanks taunts because fuck game mechanics and AoE spam the shit out of that slow spell. Im sick of closing rifts, they just feel so cheap some times.
77 hours in, it never ends and never gets boring
Still can't beat a dragon. The wing flap decimates my squishy team in a heart beat. Is there any indication its going to do that move so I can pop a barrier?

Not that I can remember. I just got used to positioning my rogue at his 10 or 3 oclock as everyone else could take care of themselves (Vivienne, me as 2H with Block & Slash, Cass as tank).
Which dragon are you trying to fight? The Crestwood one is the easiest once you realize you can dispel the lightning circles.
Just finished the game, clocked in at 130 hours, level 24,my companions all level 23,missing just a few things and the 10th dragon lol, cant remember where he was...maybe its Stormcoast, when you see him for the first time,he is
fighting a Giant, but I didnt engage them there, and when I go back now,he is not there with the Giant anymore...?
...
Anyway, awesome, awesome game, loved everything about it...did they announce any DLC for this...? it would be awesome and there so many ways they can go with it...
Just a few things about the ending I am not sure about but I will go in the spoiler thread to see what happened to others.
