Dragon Age: Inquisition |OT2| Leave the damn Hinterlands!

So i'm up to
Temple of Mythal
and I havent bothered with any of the class specialisation missions, I just forgot about them. I heard knight enchanter is a good class, is it too late for me to get that? How much of the game have I got left?

Got Cole for my final companion. So far, I think all of the companions are alright. There is no one as irritating as Merrill. Not even Sera, at least for now. Top tier are Cassandra (I would trade Sera for her to be my wife in a heartbeat), Vivienne, and Dorian. Cole is a bit disconcerting, but I enjoy talking to him. He also looks like Rupert Grint.

I think Blackwall may be in love with my character. He got awfully chummy with her pretty quick. Although, it could be his fanaticism over Andraste showing.

Iron Bull seems fun, but I don't have a feel for his character yet. The same goes for Solas and Sera. Looking around the forums, I'm missing a lot of character development because of the banter bug.
Hawke walking and talking on her own is really weird. She was violent and dumb as a bag of rocks in DA2 and she seems almost competent now.

I'm at an impasse, one because I'm having a blast, and two because I'm on nightmare and want to beef up doing random stuff as much as I can.

I will move on eventually though!

That is my solution for Nightmare. I do as much as I can in Hinterlands before moving on. The only weird bit would be if you're playing on Nightmare on your first playthrough... And even then, if that is the case then I'll assume you're willing to grind a bit.

Not much at all. The next story mission is the last. You can still get the specialization. But unless you been saving up your skill points, then there wont be much you can do with the class.

Yes and yes. I love it! 8D

Man, I can't believe I'm still playing this and still having so much fun... and still finding compelling content 80 hours in! I realize there's a lot of chaff in there for quests, but it seems every time I feel like I've exhausted it, I find another worthwhile quest. The pacing is working very well for me. I just did that whole Samson quest line, and that was pretty cool.

She took way too long to get her act together. By the time she smashed the mirror, my patience with her was gone. I got tired of her constantly trying to control blood magic and failing. Her stupidity got people killed.

Merill was a great character who to me was analogous to someone struggling with an addiction. In her case it was blood magic. I kinda feel people didn't get her.

I think I'm starting to get fatigued doing all the shitty side quests so I've stopped doing them.

Developers really need to understand the difference between fun and compelling. I don't collect a zillian resources because it's fun, I do it because I feel compelled to. I do it even though I don't have to (yay game design?) Being inundated with terrible side quests is not fun, but definitely compelling. Fun content is like fucking your SO, sometimes deep and intimate and sometimes hard and fast. Fun content is always compelling. But compelling content without the fun is like masturbating for the 10th time in a row. At that point you're shooting blanks and it actually hurts.

Honestly I would've preferred half the zones, but with more cutscenes and interesting choices/dynamics/character interactions.

Lol and here I was dating her and supporting her blood magic. And then
we were forced to killed her clan because she used blood magic.
Hmm, maybe I should've put my foot down.

When I played SP the collect quests just seemed like options to increase power. Like if you needed a bit more power for something you could do these quests. I just did them if I had a ton of the item to spare or if I was going where they needed me to go anyway. What I spent a ton of time doing however was mining metals, and I loved it.

Any idea where I can find some high level schematics or gear for a Qunari Warrior? I got a tier 3 schematic but it's human only. :(

I like most of the characters in this game, but does anyone else feel they are written to be a bit too... modern?

Like their values and morals and level-headed decision making capabilities. None of the main cast really feel like they fit in a medieval fantasy universe. I didn't really get this impression with the original Dragon Age, where they seemed to be going for more of A Song of Ice and Fire-style gritty feel. Obviously they can do whatever they want in their fantasy universe, but it feels a bit off to me, personally.

No, you need to leave the Mire until your level is high enough to fight the monsters there. Fallow Mire is sufficiently creepy and all, but it shouldn't be difficult if you go in there at the right time.

Okay. Lemme ask.

Is anyone else loving the dragon battles as much as me? These have been legit some of my favorite boss battles I have fought in fucking ages in an RPG. Each one is unique and interesting and tough. You can't stand around and wail on them unless you're super over-levelled and each has different tactics you have to use to avoid taking massive damage from their breath weapons and unique attacks.

I've killed three of them and fought five and I just can't get over how much of a blast and "FUCK YEAH!" moment it is to finally kill one.

Annoyingley there are no Qunari only armour in the game that I'm aware of. As for Tier 3 armour the merchant in The Canyon in The Hissing Wastes has some good stuff.

Dragon Age always felt more Wheel of Time than ASOIAF to me, the anachronistic attitudes don't really feel out of sync with earlier games. The world has a church run by women, it's expected that things would be much different socially.

Welp.

Just got to the Hinterlands and explored a bit. Now I have like 100 things in my journal

I'm never getting out of here am I?

I'd suggest you leave the Hinterlands once you reach late lvl6, early lvl7 ish. Then go to the Storm Coast.

( you can unlock the storm coast in the War Room in Haven).

The thing to remember is almost every area has different leveled enemies, so it's not wise to just stay in the hinterlands. keep doing the side quests and the main quests in keeping with your current levels.

Haha, I'm the same. I just love exploring. Just got a Horse so I'll be doing all the side quests a little quicker now.

I probably should focus on the main story now as I'm Lv5.

Restarted what pride had wrought (was perhaps ten minutes into the temple) to get Solas in the party. Was definitely worth it, there's a ton of dialogue you don't get from the other party members, or at least my original bro crew of Dorian, Bull, and Varric.

What is the meaning of these perks from Cullen?

How will they actually deliver the schematics?
Will they give them randomly on fields or should I buy them from merchants?

For anyone who has discovered the Temple of Dirthman...how the hell do I beat the boss? I'm a level 11 mage and my main party consist of Cole, Blackwall, and Solas. The boss is really annoying with his barrier spell but even that wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't for the ENDLESS FUCKING ARMY OF CORPSES. Should I just come back at a higher level?

Ugh, okay. Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah, the schematics are worthless.

The ones you want are:

Act 1
- Arcane Knowledge
- Underworld Knowledge
- History Knowledge
- Antivan Tailoring
- Enhanced Studies
- Massacre's Method
- Extra Potions
- Extra Flasks

Act 2
- Nobility Knowledge (or really, anytime before you do the Winter Palace is fine)
- Deft Hands, Fine Tools
- Optimal Cutting
- Sterling Reputation
- A Favor For A Favor
- Elite Clientele
- Eagle-Eyed

lol, corypheus has to be the worst villain since the collective of scrubs in diablo 3. The end of what pride had wrought was comical.

Just over 100 hours in. Just finished the main quest. Really wish there was a war table app so I could start and finish war table quests on the move!

Yeah, the end of act 1 was a brilliant introduction.

Then for the rest of the game,
he's basically just another dude with an army. He could be Loghain. The conversation options about him are more interesting than he actually is. And at the Temple? His only "scary advantage" is that he gets killed a lot but always comes back to life.

Great beginning but horrible middle and ending for the villain.

I haven't finished the game just yet, I've just completed the
Well of Sorrows
, but yes I agree. The end of Act 1 was brilliantly done, after that some of the momentum the Villain had was defalting. Still, it's an incredible game so far.

I actually thought Far Cry 4 did Pagan Min, their villain, incredibly well for their paltry amount of time onscreen.

But that's because they gave him a goddamn amazing personality.

Cory was given the exact opposite.

His motivation was really, really cool, but not even that was explored. And from the looks of how things go by the end of the game, it's the end of the Original Tevinter Magister Darkspawn storyline as well.
