I don't know what happened but it seems like the AI decided to show me it can indeed be even dumber. They all refuse to use skills now even though AI is on and I don't have it set for them to save stamina/mana.

Gee I can't wait for the romance scenes.

lol, there's a lot of weirdness that occurs when you play as anyone that's not human height - really reminds you that the game is meant to be played as a human. I remember my dwarf burying his face in Florianne's bosom. Playing as a Qunari now and there's a few conversations where the camera centers square on his chest, others where his size obscures the whole conversation.

Got Cole for my final companion. So far, I think all of the companions are alright. There is no one as irritating as Merrill. Not even Sera, at least for now. Top tier are Cassandra (I would trade Sera for her to be my wife in a heartbeat), Vivienne, and Dorian. Cole is a bit disconcerting, but I enjoy talking to him. He also looks like Rupert Grint.

I think Blackwall may be in love with my character. He got awfully chummy with her pretty quick. Although, it could be his fanaticism over Andraste showing.

Iron Bull seems fun, but I don't have a feel for his character yet. The same goes for Solas and Sera. Looking around the forums, I'm missing a lot of character development because of the banter bug.
Hawke walking and talking on her own is really weird. She was violent and dumb as a bag of rocks in DA2 and she seems almost competent now.

How are people not in love with solas? man, he is the best character bioware has produced in my opinion. his voice actor is just so subtle and his dialogue lines are just superb and consistent. The way he involves himself is so soft yet important... and he does this without feeling intrusive. When he gets upset, you have a very clear understanding of what is upseting him. and his stories are the best... his delivery of the stories are even better..

he is like that 100% cool guy who will tell you what needs to be heard in a non abrasive way. not to mention rift mage kicks all kinds of ass. I haven't done his companion quest yet, but he is very easily the most level headed person in the party.

Sera isn't necessarily my least favorite, but I do love to be confrontational with her. Her proletariat sensibilities really attract me to her... I don't appreciate the fact that they try to give her punk rebel londoner motif with the jack boots and the slight cockney talk, but i got used to it...

I love all the characters(though i'm kind of growing weary of Varric)... but solas is literally the best.

wasn't gunna start this til I beat some other games, but I was bored of story-less games and out of hulu plus so I thought why not. 3 hours in and it's very pretty. Playing on hard and it's kicking my ass, but hopefully I can make it through without switching.

Im level 15 which dragon is the one i got the best shot at beating? The hinterlands dragon has tore our asses up for 5 straight times now. The team i used was my mage, cole, cass and blackwall. Not my best team, but i just like playing as double daggers cole.

Sorry if it's already been asked and answered, but is anyone else having trouble using a controller on PC? Everything was fine until the patch. I've seemingly tried everything to fix it. :|

More like the worst character ever. I couldn't stand him. By the half way point I just stopped talking to him all together. He's a whiny, moody, fucking creep who watches you as you sleep.

This game has waaaay too much to do to have to also juggle inventory management on top of it all. :( I'd love bioware forever if they could patch in some storage at your keep, bleh. i'm collecting so many purple accessories it's getting hard to prune it down to under 90 items as i reach 100hrs of play

BioWare is forcing hoarders to face their affliction. It's OK, it's not your fault. Just let go.

Im havingso much fun with this game. Seeing the gorgeous world and characters come to live i really wish for a remake of Dragon Age Origin with the current graphic engine and gameplay / tactical camera on the ps4.

I would so fall for that.

I got spoiled on the whole
Hawke
thing. It's interesting though. Why was it so important that he get an appearance but not the
hero from the first game
? They go as far as to let you customize his sex, appearance and voice? That's a lot of effort on Bioware's part. Never played it myself, but I thought people didn't care much for DA2? Seems odd they want it so closely tied to rather then start over with a somewhat unrelated story.

Plenty of people like DA2 is only the Neogaf consensus that generally doesn't like it.

Yeah, this is definitely a direct sequel to DA2, which sounds horrible but it works. To be fair, since they wrote that Blights only happen ever millennium or so, they really had to rework something to make an open world game work. They did alright on that end here. Still, I'm never not annoyed by having limited party space taken up by a returning character (who was only interesting because he was stuck in a cast of complete garbage). The
Hawke
appearance elicited precisely zero emotion for me, as well, because frankly,
Hawke
can go leap off a bridge.

It's a small complaint though, as the game is overwhelmingly good. Hopefully, they break from DA2 more thoroughly in DA4.

Plenty of people like anything, but no, it's not just "NeoGAF" that dislikes it.

Making the decision in (Here Lies in the Abyss quest spoiler) to
Pick Hawke or Loghain to die was the easiest decision to make based solely on my lack of care for Hawke.

Also it sucks knowing that they pretty much can't do anything really cool or drastic with old characters that could or could not be dead. Namely
The Warden
whom I will basically never get to see in the flesh again because Bioware write themselves into holes constantly.

why is this here
why is this here
why is this here
why is this here

Because they want you to play the multiplayer that no one is playing so they can make money of you from the casino-style microtransactions. Or maybe that's just the cynic in me talking.

My choice was between
Stroud and Hawke
. Unfortunately I hardly know Stroud, so yeah.. was an easy decision.

Loghain is alive in my second playthrough, so should be interesting to see what he has to say.

Welcome to BioWare, where the choices don't matter and we write ourselves into holes.

Crestwood dragon is easier than hinterlands one.

Uhhh....yeah, I'd say that. Hinterlands dragon I prepared, had Fire Resistance potions ready, changed my character (she uses fire magic) around, the whole nine before I decided to hunt him. I just kinda ran into the Crestwood dragon while exploring and killed him in around ten minutes. Without the helpers and that stupid dizzying cry thing, he wasn't the same threat.

Knight Enchanter partially feels like a mistake, because I'm just running over everything, but I also love those moments where you game the system and come out on top. Hinterlands dragon couldn't even get past my barrier.

The sad part is, they stopped trying. I was tense at the end of ME2 trying to make sure I didn't get anyone killed. In DAI, I sit on my throne and judge people based on what option appears to give me the most gameplay benefits, because I know none of the decisions I make will have any weight or consequence outside of MAYBE a single slightly different dialogue string later on.

Well what the Warden is doing could be huge for the lore in the series.

It might tie into what's going on with the Warden order at the end of DAI, remember they even had a cured Warden in this game essentially confirming that it can be cured all be it not knowing how its actually done.

You can sell your junk to any vendor you find. There one at Haven and there's one at the Crossroads if you can't find any. Main quests will be marked under Inquisitor's Path. The rest are essentially side quests.

Need a 2 handed warrior build suggestion for a nightmare run. Is a 2 handed warrior a viable option for nightmare or is it going to be a pain to get through?

I really hope so, since a lot of people would like to revisit that part of lore. With the Grey Wardens
almost extinct
and 2 more blights to come I'd imagine either
The Hero of Fereldan or the Orlesian Warden
could be the main character for the next installment.

Having such a important character off screen didn't sit well with me, at least Bioware acknowledged him though.

I have Cassandra and Bull on 2 handed. At nightmare it is hard to stay alive initially, but gets easier later. Make sure to use Parry to generate guard, and use masterwork materials to generate guard with either your gear or weapon. It can be quite fun to play.

The Hero of Ferelden being your returning character would be so badass. It would be unprecedented - playing a character-created character twice out of differing installments?

Edit: Nevermind, top of page doesn't need DA2 talk.

Just got to the second half of the game and boy there are a lot more options all of a sudden.

I haven't really been having much success on getting any male to male dating action yet. Is there anything that's easy to miss and locking me out of that option for good?

I was experimenting with downsampling and DSR and my resolution got stuck. WTF?

First of all, I was following this guide to downsampling:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=509076

I had created a custom resolution (2560 x 1440 for my 1080p tv), then set the GPU to scale the image. That worked fine initially, and was a notable graphical improvement without too much of a hit on my 970. DSR, or dynamic super resolution as Nvidia calls it, is really just another way to downsample as I understand it. Thing is, once I turned it on, I lost the ability to change resolutions within the game. I set it to 2560 x 1440? It stays at 1920 x 1080. I set it to 1280 x 720? It stays at 1920 x 1080. The option sticks in the menu, but no actual change ever occurs.

Seriously. WTF have I done? :( Not having this problem with any other game, so it's an issue specific to DA:I.... Has anyone else had their resolution get stuck?

Oh great... the dragon bane trophy is glitched. This has happened to many but I thought it'd be fixed with the latest patch but apparently not :/

Apparently I have to rekill a dragon for it to unlock. Meh.

I think I'm starting to get fatigued doing all the shitty side quests so I've stopped doing them.

Developers really need to understand the difference between fun and compelling. I don't collect a zillian resources because it's fun, I do it because I feel compelled to. I do it even though I don't have to (yay game design?) Being inundated with terrible side quests is not fun, but definitely compelling.

Yeah this is a good distinction. I keep playing this game, and every time I want to save and quit, I travel to a new location and am like oooh one more objective. I'm 40 hours in, which is considerably longer than almost anything for the last years. But it hardly ever amounts to anything meaningful and, even though it's definitely compelling and nice to look at, am I having real fun? It feels more like a continuous diversion. Though it's also kind of my own fault, I only just started looking at the quest journal and finding out that I should just do the inquisitor's path and inner circle and not bother with anything else. Even then though, it's mostly collect 12 of these (red lyrium), kill 6 of them, etc. and not having enough power to open up the zones.

Maybe it's also because I'm coming off Bayonetta 2 which is the complete opposite. No bullshit, hundred percent fun.
