Since we're talking about other things now:

I have been thinking about fantasy WRPGs lately and how they are based a lot on Tolkien's work... and I've begun to really appreciate the size, scope, and lore of Elder Scrolls.

Didn't fully care to finish Skyrim (had on PS3, then bought on PC) but I may go back to dabble today. I know games before last gen versions were supposed to be a lot deeper and less streamlined (CRPG focus), but I think it's amazing how they have this whole continent full of all kinds of different areas and species, and ones who seem very different from those in Tolkien's established world. It's something I've never really appreciated about WRPGs before

I also begun to wonder why we see elves so prominently in fantasy games, and wonder if we'll see games utilize unknown mythic species/creatures in a Tolkien sort of way.

We have all these typical mythical races, but I imagine there are so many others that no one has ever tried for.

Personally, I think I would love some RPG set in Indian myth/lore. It just seems wildly different from what already exists in both Japanese and Western inspired RPGs.

This is why I desperately want a Codex Alera game. Very much a departure from your typical Tolkein.

I dont know about you guys but knowing that enemy is the first boss makes me want the game more. I want to see how that comes up.
Is it? He certainly makes an appearance but the guy is not a actual boss fight there and we know nothing about him before delving deeper into the thing.

I feel sorry for Dawg, all those juicy discussion points and nobody to talk about them with lol

I heard this spoiler that
nobody expected the spanish dragon age inquisition

I'm torn between PC and PS4. If I went PC I'd like to run on high but don't know if my rig can handle.

Running on an i5 3570k at 3.4GHz, an HD7950OC w/ like 3GB of VRAM and 8GB of ram.

o_O

They released OST with minimal compression or non existent compression and in .wav format. Main theme alone is 30 MB in size. I like this a lot...

Edit: OST is 980 MB and 39 songs total, not bad

Spoiler boxes everywhere? Time to abandon thread, it's only a matter of time before someone fucks up let's something slip.

Spoiler boxes that aren't actually spoilers are unfunny as fuck

In fact, if it was a decision I could make, I'd make them bannable

Well aren't you Mr. Fun?

You remind me of the guy in the Guardians of the Galaxy thread. Where a bunch of users and mods started posting spoilers of different stuff because he considered out-to-public information a spoiler.

Almost a gig of awesome.

I'm really liking what I've heard from it.

Seems like a no-brainer for PC to me. Not only do you get mouse and keyboard support, but there's just about no chance that it won't perform and look better than PS4 version on hardware like that.

You can also get it for like $50 or less and no tax over on GMG.

Listened few songs and this is great stuff imo. Really makes me wonder why they didn't use this stuff in latest trailer.

This really is how you are supposed to release OST. All tracks high quality without compression making it muddy.

I wonder if remote play will be even somewhat workable for this game.

I haven't really used RP much at all since getting my PS4. but for a long-ass RPG it might be fun to curl up on the couch and just explore. My guess is that all the text and icons might be too small to parse on the Vita screen, but I'll give it a shot.

Do all the buttons get used? I also don't love using back-touch on Vita.

That's a great story

I dunno, I'm chuckling.

I got a pretty good chuckle.

I wish I could find things done to death as funny as you guys, but I can't.

Honestly, I really do. I browse imgur when I'm bored and that place is filled with stupid overused stock comments everywhere

I would absolutely love a well-made Codex Alera RPG. Something similar in gameplay to Dragon Age, or even better, Dragons Dogma. Imagine that combat system in Dogma, tying movesets/abilities to furycrafting types instead of weapons? Sooooo gooood

Don't worry, some day soon you'll just find life completely dull, uninteresting, and not worth living any more.

It should work, right? I mean, at the very least you should be able to enter tactical mode to make sure fights don't get away from you. I'm banking on being able to play on my vita on breaks at work. OTherwise I wont finish for like 2 years.

Don't remind me about Dragon's Dogma. The pain of never getting DD2 is too much.

Wolves hunt in packs :'(

You know what killed Bullfrog, Ensemble Studios, Westwood, Origin, Lucasarts and many other great Pc developers? Big AAA Publishers. You know who filled the PC market with always online games, micro-transactions, invasive DRM, anti-consumer practices? Publishers. You know who hiked pc game prices? Publishers.

Big publishers have done more to fuck up PC gaming than pirates have ever managed.

I don't think we should say one is better than the other.

They both suck.

Boy, am I glad I went to the pub for a couple of hours this evening. Plot spoilers in a review thread are not cool guys and girls, not cool.

No matter how much this is becoming our de facto OT thread until Shinobi can reveal the greatness of his.

Yep. Much easier to make people put in their achievements in the Keep that trying to read save files. A plethora of things can go wrong with that.

I would hope they coded Inq to export all the decisions that matter to the keep, plus the decisions you imported in the first place. Then it's a seamless cloud syncing service.

i have the dilemma of having specs greater than the minimum, but nowhere near the max (amd phenom II quadcore @3.2ghz, 2GB GTX 660, 8GB of DDR3), and having a PS4. I want to get the PC version, but i'm worried it'll perform a stinker and i want to get the PS4 version to build up the library, but i don't want to give up mouse and keyboard. One or the other.

At least i've got a week to decide.

For those that have played it, do you tink I'll be able to balance Farcry 4 and Dragon Age? Farcry is out on Tuesday and Dragon Age is out on Friday... I have a week off work, but I need to know if 'll even have time to touch Farcry in that week before finishing DA. No point wasting money.

It was my fault, forgive me guys

DA will be a huge time sinker. I wouldn't recommend playing the game alongside anything else. But I guess it depends on your level of hype. I know that I have ACU today and I still only really wanna talk/play DAI

They had a proto-version of that for DA:O but man it was wonky. I wonder if it's still online anywhere.

I think I am now as excited for this as I was for DA:O prior to release. Too bad there's no 12 hour streamed competition this time like there was for DA:O. But it's nice to be excited again about a franchise I had followed for years during DA:O's development then dropped in days after DA2 released.

Doubt it

Goodness that's stupid. You don't find something funny, so you'd prefer it to be bannable?

Nah, that's not why. Visit an OT or a similar thread some time that has people posting funny non-spoilers in spoiler tags and other people posting actual spoilers in spoiler tags and you'd want them banned too. Better yet if the funny ones are labeled with "omg spoilers" and the real ones aren't labeled at all.

Granted, I haven't seen that kind of behavior in a while, but I've seen enough to get annoyed by any non-spoilers now.
