Dragon Age Veilguard, Non Binary character

These are the same people who are furries. Of course they're horny for bull people. They're horny for all animal people. It's disgusting.

Fuck off

We have a bunch of games with sex and stuff that should not be in games whatsoever. Why stop there? Let's all have a bit of fun.

Seems like you have a problem, not the game (at least not this problem) There is a character that identifies as non binary? Deal with it. This happens in real life as well. Why should this upset you? Cause you don’t want other people to not be straight? Is it really a problem for you? Does this bother you so much? Really weird…

Based on the reviews I've seen, the game has much bigger writing problems than a character being non-binary (which I don't really care about, either way).

Using the term like that is a bit weird, but there are fantasy or sci-fi settings where the concept of sex or gender does not apply to certain individuals or races.
Yep, writing and characterization is atrocious.

Hell, Hogwarts had a binary character, so did Cyberpunk. But unlike this game it’s handled as a matter effect and game goes on.

This game - not so much. Crap writing and single sided characters galore. Plus the “new and improved” design of different races is just terrible.

In real life I don't have to pay 70 bucks to have to deal with pretentious helmets role playing.

I bet it is a comprehensive list. Even that wiki page you posted (lol) only list a handful. What am I downplaying? What counter examples do I need?

One user claimed that tribes in Africa would find this insane but didn't give hard examples.
I gave hard examples of cultures, some native, that wouldn't find this insane.
Your contribution to add to this is... "Nuh uh!"?

Its a comprehensive list. The vast majority's of cultures don't recognize it. What more info do you want? Some native? Is that a plus? Should I be impressed by that? Two spirit lmao

Yes I know that, and neither of them have counterpoints that are relevant to the original point. I'm assuming we're all following the same line of discussion and logic here, right?
I sure am and really, we should have more conversations like that. I enjoy that a lot. Most people just want to be inflammatory and use the most basic arguments to invalidate something they don't like. I'm here for a good laugh at those.

Imagine thinking this shit belongs in a videogame
I guess it's understandable that you're mad with this, but I don't think we get to decide really what belongs or not in a videogame. If this is the way these people are gonna express through this art or creative work it's their utmost right. I find it a little arrogant perhaps, or you know, like demanding games be the way I like them, demanding artists please my views, etc. In this particular case, play the original or something else, don't support it simply. Again, I think we demand a bit too much when we try to decide what someone's expression should be like.

Does non-binary mean you’re gay?

I thought it was to do with identity not sexuality?

As long as devs don't cry that not enough people bought their shittx game than its not a problem. But those devs belong so the most toxic one so I can't wait for their crying.

Okay, I will keep it within the same species. What if they're white and call themselves black or identify as black? Where is the line drawn?

The slope has already fallen off the cliff and is not a fallacy. Newspeak and denial won't change that.

That's still not the answer to the question that I asked you but I will answer your new question - There are generally accepted ways that people accept the label "white" or "black" based on either genetics, heritage, outward appearance, or cultural upbringing. Sometimes the line is clear and sometimes it is blurred. You can find real world examples of pushing these boundaries that range from the absurd (Dolezal) to the "odd but makes more sense" (Clinton being the first "black" president based on his contribution to black advancement). Since we use the same limited vocabulary to talk about a range of subjects that include both physical and mental traits, we need to be sure of the context of each conversation in order to make sense of each assessment.

The issue I have is my wife loves Dragon Age, so I've no choice but to get it for her. It's an annual tradition for her to replay one of the previous entries.

I'll get it for her, even though I don't think she'll like the combat changes, but I have no vested interest in either playing or watching it.

That'll be an interesting conversation. Wish me luck.

I can give you one single example, but this should not be necessary as your posted Wikipedia page explicitly states:
Most cultures use a gender binary, having two genders (boys/men and girls/women).[3][4][5]

Imagine feeling the need to point any of your sexual preferences out in a video game

but don't forget the "it's just fantasy" defense card in case people throw at you reasoned arguments.
I never got this argument tbh.

It's "fantasy" in that every weird thing can be possible and we don't need to question it?

So it's not realistic or logical then? They admit it's weird in real life?

He should and EVERYONE should. These people have a mental illness. Fucking non binary and trans people are the weird ones.

It's an excuse to justify any bullshit, from plot holes to woke nonsense. It pisses me off personally because I write fantasy and invest a lot of time in worldbuilding just for some idiots to say "Consistency doesn't matter in fantasy".

These people are beyond stupid, it's a miracle they don't shit their pants.

How is that not necessary? I wasn't claiming that there aren't any cultures that reject multiple gender categories in their culture. I already acknowledged that quote from Wikipedia from the outset. It doesn't counteract anything that I've said.

As far as your video goes, cool you have one example of a tribe that doesn't really know about what Matt is talking about trying to make sense of what he's saying using vocabulary that doesn't normally exist in their language in the same way it does in ours. If their language and culture doesn't have the concepts of separating sex and gender as two distinct things, then we're just talking past each other.

'I know we've got a world-ending situation on our hands and many of us will likely die along the way, but first things first we need to make sure everyone's clear with my gender and pronouns.'

Do these people genuinely have the types of conversations they've written into this game, or is this more a creation of the fantasy world they want to live in where people talk like this?

Is this really in the game? Especially the one where she annonces she is a non-binary?

That looks fake - is there a movie of that?

It seems way to much like a lecture to be true - even if you support this there are better ways to promote it than.. this
